Weapon of Combustion - Ritualist skill idea
Hiya,
I just wanted to share my idea of a skill that I think would be a nice addition to Guild Wars.
Weapon of Combustion
Weapon Spell. (16...41...48 seconds.) Your attacks deal +6...16...19 fire damage and cause burning (2...3 seconds). While under the effects of this enchantment, you suffer from the burning condition.
Energy Cost: 5
Activation Time: 1 second
Recharge Time: 25 seconds.
I think that this would be an interesting skill and would provide a usefull addition to Guild Wars. This skill is ideal for an assassin because of its high attack rate. This weapon spell would allow the character to deal massive damage and cause the foe to burn, while paying a reasonable price.
Feel free to comment: critisizm is always helpful
Thanks,
~ ><> Fish

This is insanely powerful.
5e for easy +15 DPS and non-removable. This is in every possible way better than any Conjure, notwithstanding the constant DPS from burning. The stipulation of Burning while under the effects of this weapon spell are terrible whether you do or don't have healing. If you do, they'll simply heal you while you destroy your target. If you don't have healing, since you can't remove the Weapon Spell, you'll straight die.
Tone it down, in every way.

Might want to take a look at http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Conditions#Thematic_ties
You'll see that ritualists aren't meant to have such easy access to the burning condition. I'd rather have them bring back the old rit lord than this to be honest.

Much better, I'd say 30s recharge and 1s cast. Plus, Spawning Power linkage means only primary Rits will run it as support.
Anything that behaves similarly to a Conjure skill but has stronger benefit should be either more expensive or not as maintainable. Honestly, the time would be more like 0...7...10 so it would stick around for a spike, but not for near-constant DPS and burning.
Also, I'd change the clause to "attack skills" not "attacks."

This might be fun to play with. 16 sec would be a reasonable penality for having the weapon spell on you. I would put this in channelling instead of spawning, or better yet since we are talking about a very overpowered skill-make it a PVE only skill tied to Sunspear rank.
Now lets imagine an A/E perma with [Frigid Armor]. Throw weapon of combustion on them and then throw [splinter weapon] on them, not sure it would stack but how overpowered would it be if it did....crazy.
Anet would nerf it. lol
