Hard Mode in Presearing
How it works:
You are only able to go into Hard Mode in presearing upon reaching level 20.
Death Penalty does occur upon death.
Regular tomes do not drop, only Capture Tomes which allow you to learn Signet of Capture.
Gwen will be buffed to heal for slightly more health.
Hidden Stashes are replaced with Locked Chests, however the merchant will not start selling lockpicks, they will only drop rarely from hard mode monsters.
Hard Mode monsters will drop the same items as their Normal Mode counterparts, with the exception of Lockpicks and Capture Tomes.
What this introduces:
Weapons only through locked chests, which can only be opened with lockpicks rarely dropped by charr killed in hard mode across the wall.
The following skills are now attainable to presearing characters through the use of Skill Capture: Barrage, Favorable Winds, Banish, Heal Area, Infuse Health, Faintheartedness, Mark of Pain, Energy Burn, Illusion of Haste, Mantra of Flame, Conjure Flame, and Lava Font.
Prince Rurik will award you a gold helmet after vanquishing all 6 explorable areas of Ascalon as long as you stay in presearing.

95% sure Anet already said they would not do this. This has been suggested before, so why a new topic? +1 before close.

Cute idea, not happening. You want to turn presearing into a real game, go right ahead, but it's still just a tutorial that people are supposed to leave relatively quickly.

It's a nice idea, but A-Net doesn't really want people to stay there, it's intended as a learning grounds for newer players and that's all it will stay as.

1. Pre-Searing was designed as a tutorial
2. Takes FOREVER to get to level 20.
3. Same as 2. - Cause getting to level 20 from Death Leveling is just O.O

LDoA is the lamest, most counter-productive title in the entire game. It encourages you to ignore 99% of the rest of the game for an extended or infinite amount of time.
Perma-Pre =/= cool. Use it for what it is and move on.

have you run out of things to do in gw? go read a book! it's been four years running and it's been a great game throughout those years. we don't need a means to alienate any newbies by presenting them with hundreds of over-powered gear boasters.
if you wanna boast of your accomplishments don't do it in the noob area, go off and complete DoA solo or something...

Buffing Gwen in pre just doesn't make sense for the storyline.
Lockpicks would suck with no gold items in pre.
Access to HM would have to be carefully managed, or it would become possible to earn both legendary survivor and LDoA.

If ANet never intended for people to stay there or get to a high level, they wouldn't have added LDoA.
I think this would be a great idea, but the number of people it would affect is extremely low. Also, I feel it would be more important to look at changing the functionalities of LDoA and LS before giving people with LDoA more benefits.
