Was this how it was during the preview event?
I seem to remember making 20k Norn points without really trying in the preview, and getting req9 golds with useful mods from chests, (because i'm a Ranger main and having 3294634 bows is my birthright dammit,) and thinking that actually maybe the title grind wouldn't be so bad.
And then the actual release came, and i looked at my ten characters, and thought actually maybe i won't take them all through, or maybe not even many of them.
Summary: i'd really like for Dungeons to give the fixed first-time faction points every time. Faction points for actually playing the game? Yes, please.

The problem is that the LOWER tiers of the titles right now require far too much work. It should be those top 2 or 3 levels that separate the pack, the ones that should require hours of dungeon crawling and hunting. The first 5 levels or so should really be a breeze that get covered through doing normal quests and the primary story chain. It shouldn't require clearing explorable areas for 90 minutes a time. That stuff should be saved the the real top-level titles. It would at least allow casual players to have some sort of title to be proud of for following the story and not spending hours farming reputation points.

After completing the game and all quests I was short on every race title. I had to exchange my hero book for points to get lvl dwarf for crappy armor which i didnt know wasnt going to go into the HoM. I spent 3 times vankquishing falls, and two times vanking stones to get lvl 5 in those. I am currently working on vanking the valley to get lvl 5 ebon.
I would say that unless you really worked at getting the points through the game you would not have the points at end game to get even lvl 5 without farming.
Not that that is a bad thing. Consider their point of view, why give every pleeb your armor. You would want to ensure they were of some type of quality before you gave them access to your armor.

I hate to disagree, but achieving rank 5 on all races in GWEN isnt hard and cant be done by just doing quests and dungeons. I know because I did it!
I admit there was a tiny amount of points still left to push me over rank 5 (5-10k which isnt alot), but that only took a very small amount of bounty hunting in some areas.
And drawf ranks are a piss take to achieve with the snowman dungeon!
The ranking system to get to 5 is fine. Its just that its not a huge amount of fun to get there. Not all the quests and dungeons have that same level of playfullness to them as the snowman dungeon.

Dwarven, Asuran, and Norn are easy to get.
Just why didn't they have a minigame/more quests for Ebon?

I agree that something must be done too. I actually did take the time to max out all the points on my necro, and by the time I was done, I dispised the game. I have 6 other charicters. Do not think I will be maxing points on those any time soon. After vanquishing all the areas and still not having my points maxed...I wanted to scream. In fact I did, just ask my husband. I was not a happy camper. I just cant see myself bothering with that again. The repeating of the quests and the vanquishing of the same areas over and over and over......no, not again. Something must be done.
Dwarven points are easy to max, but I would rather have my asuran points maxed then dwarven.
As for the mini games, polymock is a bite in the a.., the one in gunnars hold, I have never been able to beat. And besides, so little points for success....and yes, I suffered my way thru polymock as well.

Well honestly getting the titles doesnt seem all that hard to me. So far I have filled NM heros handbooks about 5 times. Only 1 or 2 quest in it that require more than heros and hench. Also I have worked on fillling the Master Dungeon book (which is much harder and I dont plan on doing it more than once in NM and once in HM per char.) Ive been playing GWEN for a little over 3 weeks I think and ive already got Norn and Vangaurd titles at lvl 7 and Asuran and Dwarf titles at lvl 6 getting to lvl 7 quickly. Ive used 2 of the heros handbooks toward Norn 2 towards Vangaurd and 1 towards Asuran titles. Once I finish Master dungeon I will probably do 1 more NM heros hand book and if I havent gone over 60k in Vangaurd I will use it on Vanguard then use the master dungeon book reward on Vangaurd which should put me to high lvl 8 or even lvl 9. Filling NM heros handbook only takes a few hours. I had done 2 of them in 1 day on last Sunday. Each one gives you 20k points in your choice of title. Still dont know how many points you get for a full Master Dungeon book but it seems like its going to be alot considering a half full books gives like 24k in title.

It would be great if at least 1 dungeon in each area was revamped to 'elite' status, and would give greatly increased points in HM. Say: Shards of Orr, Frostwurm, Rragar's all get a bit of a difficulty boost but also a 10k reward for the respective area. Slaver's gets changed to dwarven title, with each mini dungeon giving 4-5k reward.
That way good players can get it faster through hard areas with nice drops, people who can't handle these are free to grind varajar/magus/whatever people use for vanguard.

I think it was rather odd that doing dungeons is probably the worst way to build up faction (Dwarf aside, of course). I've already maxed all my titles, but I'm still all for upping the non-Dwarf faction of the dungeons.
'Course, that would make that CoF run even more popular.

While I sympathise with the opinion that it should be possible to grind points while playing the game, it's really very easy to farm norn etc points by filling in HM books and turning them in. Much easier than clearing dungeons.
Basically the whole mechanic is broken, and norn/vanguard dungeons isn't going to fix it.

Not to mention doing norn points by repeating the final cipher quest in HM.

Those repeatable quests are quite pointless right now: no reputation per kill, no spawning chests, just 100-300 reputation at the end and 2,500 for a full book. (And, the linear play of these quests is actually more boring to repeat than going with guildies and rampaging the $%#@ out of an explorable, but that just my opinion.)

The books were 2.5k. This thread was from back when GWEN was just out so obviously there are some changes since this thread was ressed. Once of the biggest changes was the rewards for books.
