Hey, one of my female characters is surnamed 'Asura'.
So you bet I agree with the suggestion.

Name change is already in place for "abusive" names so thats easy implemented. Just a matter of how to restrict it so people arnt changing all the time.
The only cosmetic change I agree with would be the ability to change hairstyles. Must only be a few lines of code to change for style and colour. I understand making a new npc is a big job so how about using the hat guy for hair too.

I have deleted a lot of characters just because of their name or how they look.

I'm sick of having a character named 'Vicky Vodka'. I was drunk on a few screwdrivers at the time, and I saw a Tila Tequila ad... worst naming process ever.

Maybe someone should create a name reporting system and charge people to get their name reported a bunch so that it has a chance of being changed.

Just make an "Edit Character" button on the character selection and let us go back into the character appearance menus. Obviously not allowing for class change.
Height, hair, hair color, skin color, face, name --- yes. Sex? That's up to them.
And as I said before, I'd even be willing to pay $5-10 each time I wanted to change a character, if it's come down to that.

I'm good with her suggestions, to be honest with you all. Everything except the sex, height, and name change. It's a very awkward feeling for me to have those options which makes me think it's not right. Especially the sex change part. I admit my reasons are just based out of feelings. However, as for the other changes why not do it better? In addition to all the original options for your characters appearance there can also be features that weren't available when you started out your character. Red radiant eyes or silvery white hair are examples. A thread about the cosmetic features has already been made, though. More on that is in the thread. All of this might not see the light of day, but they do seem nice, no?

If it comes down to paying real-world money to keep your in-game stats while making your character look just a little bit different, or have a more grown-up or appropriate name for what the character is about, I'll pass.
If it requires in-game gold...sure. people make quick characters to get into the game faster, and come to regret it later. They come across an armor set that would look better with a different skin tone, hair style/color, etc. They get armor that clips with their current hair style, why should they have to deal with a graphical screwup? Why should they be required to salvage that hard-earned armor just because it clips with their hairstyle they chose months, maybe years before?
EDIT: WoW did it...you can do. Admit it...WoW is the only real competition and they're beating you in the character customization options.

A quest as a requirement?
/signed
I agreed that it does have to have a restriction on the ease of its use, either limiting the times you can change it or having a fee for doing so. Or better yet, have it as part of quest or a hard to reach npc(much like the seers in prophecies), so that people have to at least make an effort to change it.
A time restriction between changes and a remote npc would be ideal imo.

I would love to see this, but as a gold sink, make it 100k and an out of way npc so that it is a pain in the backside to get to. Also have a restriction to one name change per 2mos or 6 mos or something
