My sentiments exactly. Consider the shear number of names out there already. Chances are the name that you want has been taken already anyway. Also, if your name has been censored, you should be able to change that, I know that I have seen that done in the past. Usually came with a 48-72 hour account suspension (punishment for censored name) but allowed you to change and continue play after the suspension.

I love this concept, but am wondering how it would affect my friends list? Since the names kept in your friends list is that of the character's name at the time you add them, what happens if they change that characters name? Maybe have some sort of account name that isn't changeable that goes along with this for friend list purposes?

srry for 2 posts in a row, but

it problly wont effect it. i met some1 on my first guy, and delted that character... they still ahve me under the same name and i appear fine

OK, now what if someone else comes in and tries to use a name that someone previously had? Now what happens to my friends list?

Me and a couple guys actually tested that.

I removed him from my list (I already knew him) and added him with a temporary character he made. He then deleted the character. Still on list. The second guy made a new character by that name. Original guy is still on list. I then added the second guy. No problems.

It is account based.

Being able to change the hair color and style is an awesome idea. If there isn't a thread for this in the GW2 area one should be started. Don't know if they'd be able to put it in the original, but should definitely be in GW2. Maybe they could implement the base for this in GW....

Yeah i agree if it isnt FREE :f there should be things how change skin color, hairstyle or color etc But not free ingame money or real cash :P

I don't really support the name change like others you should think before you type a silly name for your character.

If they did this they should be like the other MMO's and charge real game money like 10-20 USD. This is Because of the time needing for a staff to go through the database and relink everything to your new name which requires time. Even if they develop a program for it, that won't be free. It's a good potential for some extra revenue cause in game gold is 0 revenue for the work they did.

Also someone did post a link that Gaile stated there will be no name changes programed into the game. which is why this thread is 2 years old and still nothing has been done.

If you dont want a char name Noobmonkey of Poo or some other lame ass name dont name them that. take a little time. name your char. OR DELETE NOOBMONKEY OF POO and start over. or live with it.

I would love to change the name of my first character. Since all the names are account-based, it would require zero staff time and shouldn't cost "real" money. It should come with a price, though, perhaps 2 plat?
