Perhaps it should cost something like a platinum and have a time limit for another change like 72 hours to cut down on abuse and scamming. I have a couple of characters that I would love to change the name of but only once. I don't feel the need to change the character's name with my mood or the weather.

Since the beginning of my play on guildwars I have always been upset with the limitations the game had on character customization. I have seen too many look alike characters and even similar names as mine that I have recreated my characters deep within each series to become more unique. It seems like the more populated the game gets the more unoriginal the character creation scheme exhibits. I think the name change with a fee and a quota will help others who want to relive there veteran characters a new way and more importantly it will help get rid of bad names. This is more of the game developers benefit than it is for the players though. What people really want most is not only a simple name change but a full facial change and a broader selection than the oblique and option limited selection which the game first came out with. Compared to the newer games that are coming out and prior to guildwars you can go so deep in character customization you can start off as deep as the skeletal structure and even add in scars and freckles along with shades of different skin pigments and they will have a direct effect in the motion engine of each individual character. I hope you do this with gw2. As for gw1 I think for the veterans and other players a wider selection of facial patterns should be incorporated to us players. It can be something like a special weekend event or one day only per year just so at least we can relive our characters in a different perspective.

I see where you are coming from, hopefully GW2 would be exactly like that. In the meantime though I really think that we should be able to have access to every hairstyle in all campains, such as a Tyrian with a Canthan hairstyle. That would certainly broaden variations.
Like is it so hard for Anet to implement something like this, a simple hairstyle change? If anyone else can recall during some of the earlier Nightfall events some Tyrian characters suddenly had their hair changed to Nightfall variations. Added onto this there was that April Fools day thing, so the ability to change the way our characters look is certainly out there. Players just have no control over it yet.
I mentioned this before about name changes, we should be able to request a name change through the online store at maybe $4.99 and perhaps limit the amount of times you could do that to maybe once every few months. Anet stated before that someone has to initiate the name change, so the physical labor of that would have to be compensated with this fee.
Argued like before, ever angle of a name change type thing could end with someone exploiting it somehow, so some kind of reasonable measure would have to be taken to keep this at a minimal.

What a great Idea, Because I have a couple character names I regret making. But refuse to delete them due to the time/effot I put in!
Come ON ANET.

but (as mentioned by others), charge a fee for it.
Also, if it's not too hard, to cut down on name-change spamming, limit the number of times a name on a character can be changed. Maybe 3-5 times per character.
Also, also, as mentioned by others, I would like to see some features changed on some of my players. My Ele needs a tan and a new hair style (and a new dance, but that's a different subject!).
But I would be thrilled with a simple name change option. Whatever else you throw in with it would be icing on the cake.

Most definately. I think that a fee should be applied though, maybe like 1K per change? Otherwise I can see this being abused.

i no longer like my characters name, it was a novelty but now when i talk, dumb asses make whitty remarks saying im a general, i dont need any assistance, EVER!! I thought once i saw a person in my guild hall that could change my name, but i only saw him once. so, i agree, 300 times over.
AND, i think it should cost 4k, and only be able to do it once a week.

Charge me 100k to change my name, that's enough to discourage scammers
Charge me 100k and let me change my name, that's way more than fair.
Seriously, the fee has to be pretty high to discourage people from doing this:
Scam X ecto
change name
repeat

Well i agree with the fact that there must be a limit to how many times u can change ur characters name on ur account... and maybe there should be a NPC who charges a small fee...
