Anet needs to focus on more imporant things like:
- Personal build templates
- Ability to edit your PvP character without having to delete it
- Storage stuff
- Shutting down bots
- etc

You have just said it. Rerolling a PvP character takes about 20-30 minutes if you try to come up with a build yourself or if you are modding a build for your style, idea. If you already have the build in your mind then it takes about 5 minutes not more. When you reroll a PvE character it takes you about 3 minutes + about 200-250 HOURS to get it into a state you actually want (having the armor, weapon(s), skills, quests and missions). Of course you are free to mod the skills with your PvE character, but still... I also agree that rerolling a PvP character on a regular basis can be a pain in the *ss but if an edit feature can be solved for PvP then why can't PvE get a simple rename feature?

its not a hard feature - its already there for people who have offensive names. Just charge an obscene amount of money and only allow 1 change a month, or have 5 max name changes (like changing server area), to prevent abuse.

Put a short quest with it as the reward.
Something that makes sense... Like finding a book of records or something.
I support this initiative.

I made a R/A planning to be an assassin when factions came out, but after I realized people didnt want assassins in their groups, I started using ranger skills, but since I had Assassin in my name people wouldnt let me in groups, not that I care, hench ftw, but its still annoying on missions that are hard to hench like gyala.

Now that the next chapter, Nightfall is coming NCsoft and aNet would have a good opportunity to add a rename feature. This would be the only thing to make me buy the chapter actually....

Changing a character name would be great, as long as there is a limitation to it.

"What should my IGN be today?"
Seriously... you are the only people I've ever seen that complained about wanting to rename your MMO characters... it's ridiculous. Anet shouldn't have to worry about people naming their character something stupid and wanting to change it. Like I would of never even thought of this. I can't possibly see a company supporting this. I can't think of one game where you can just go and rename your character like this.
And IF this was implemented, the only way I wouldn't see it as a terribly lame addition is if everything became account-name based. Instead of having "Blah the Blahblah" as a name, you would have their email adress (save the @something.something). So if your email was theawesomestpony @ hotmail.com, on the guild member list and friend list, it would show up as theawesomestpony (character they are playing with).
I still think it's dumb though...
Sorry 'bout the whining. I just couldn't hold it anymore.

Uhm, everything already is account-name based. You only add one character name of a friend to your friend's list, and all of his characters show up there.

Although I'm happy with the way my characters are, I think it would be a nice idea to implement...

First of all, I didn't name my character "bla bla bla" and never would...
I simply want to change the last name of my warrior so 3 of my main characters would have the same last name. Like being from the same family... And I would like to do this without starting the whole game over...

The tricky bit of name-changing is all the customised stuff out there. Would your armour still work? Customised weapons?
If it's viable, I wouldn't mind a limited name-changing ability (limited so it can't be overused or abused... like the server changing ability is limited).
I don't think it's that important, though. I'm fine with my char names.

That's not what I meant. You know how when you add someone to your friend's list, the name you added them as always shows up, no matter which character they are playing? Well I would like that to be their account name, so that if the rename that character, it's not stuck there.

I agree with the change name cause if not, half way through the game if u dont like ur name, thats it. Especially for new player that hv a bad name.
However, imo is bad to hv unlimited name change. Maybe limit to 2 or 3 times.
