hmm?

EDIT:ONE way to make this work: Security Numbers on each person

Example: ICQ numbers
What I am saying is that I would like for this option to be available. If the devs feel that a time cap is not possible, I am willing to compromise. If the name change is not possible at all it's fine with me also.

Although I can imagine how this feature can be abused without some form of restriction it certainly is an idea directed toward creating a more user-friendly feature.

So, like I said before, you are WILLING to be able to have the ability to change names COMPLETELY scratch-free and lose track of a few people, get scammed by a whole bunch more, and possibly impersonated?

Names are just as stupid as they are in Guild Wars; you need to have to have the name change ON RECORD and go through a TEDIOUS process.

I can understand what you're saying, losing-track and scammers are really an exploit of an impersonator..but, "Impersonation" is an existing exploit, as long as a character is deleted and another created with the same name. This feature may just make it easier... and I agree that it's open to scammers and such, but the same way i can avoid impersonations now is the same way i can avoid impersonations when I change my characters name; by letting my friends or guild members know that I am changing my name.

hassle? maybe, but all features comes with give-and-take. Its better to have an open mind for feature-ideas than to lock in existing flaws.

Unfortunately, some people know people that aren't in their guild or are their friends.

The people who really know you can tell by the way you act; otherwise, someone else can go through a bunch of people who know your name and slander it to shit. All because you change your name on a basis.

its not opinion... it's true fact.

if you are neutral=impartial=dont give a shit=selfish

YOU MUST fall into one of those catagories if you say yes; if you promote mediocre freedoms at great risk, you still go under SELFISH.

That's true, changing name on a regular basis is a bad idea, but people will only hurt themselves if they do so. Certainly a notice to all players that such nuisance may occur if one does so will help. But those that are willing to change their name once.. are far less likely to become a victim of impersonations.

But why EVEN risk it? They'd be better off holding an event for ONE weekend or new people to guild wars to change your name during that time. No aliases. Too much confusion and maintenance.

Maybe they can put a limit on name changes like they do on switching servers. Oh...and only idiots get scammed. people who get scammed pretty much deserve it in my eyes.

Trust is needed for bigger trades...

Or have you not had to trade more than 100k?

I agree with adding this to GW. When I first made my ele long ago, I decided to keep a common name between my characters, to help with guild recognition, so they know who I am and whatnot. But now, 6 months later...I'm getting tired of the "Mynthe" that I chose. I'm not sure if I would actually change my names, but it would be nice to have it as an option.

They should allow you to change your name once a week, or once every 72 hours, that way it won't get abused.

I sign this if name changes can be only done after certain delay like once a week or something like that. This would prevent or reduce abusive usage. It should also cost maybe 1 platinum or more so some people don't change it just for fun but because they really don't like their current name. Friends/Ignore list should have that name what player had when he/she was put on friends/ignore list and new name next to it like this:

He/she was named as Old Name when he got to friends/ignore list but he/she changed the name to New Name so it shows as Old Name (New Name).

I like my names for both my chars so I'm alright... I sat down and thought about what I wanted.

Anyway other people might want to change their names and I agree with a name change event.

This could be easily abused. Someone could grief in some way, steal money, etc., then district out and change their name to protect their security.

If this is added (and I'd like to see it added), it should still be possible to track someone under their normal name, or some unique ID. Player #34,450 or some such. Of course, I suppose it isn't like this already because some people don't want to be tracked by people they don't like.
