8 avatars, 8 books per avatar, and they can't be stacked because they're personalized... A tab in Xunlai wont cut it, one'd need a special npc to stack them all.

Just balance the titles so that they don't require books.

GW as a grindless game died when titles came out. Anyone who still thinks GW should have no grind is just too idealistic, because a game without grind has no reason for people to continue playing it.

Why do you feel people need to keep playing GW? After you finish the game and had your fun in PvE, play something else. Its not P2P where Anet would be wanting people to keep playing anyway. If you have gotten at least 30 hours of enjoyment per campaign you bought you should be happy, because anything more then that is pretty rare these days.
Also, Titles really weren't bad for PvE back when they were purely cosmetic and were achievement based instead of grind based. Looking back though, you can tell it was Anet who was intending to make them grind based from the beginning. Nice bait and switch there.
As far as holding books are concerned, let me quote my idea from another thread on how a change could be implemented:

No need for a book at all. Then any complaints about lack of server space would be voided since the needed information (mission completion) is already stored. It would require quite a bit of work to overhaul a system they JUST put in though.

One can buy more character slots.
It would be nice to have it - but considering one can only play one character at a time - one can always fill up the remaining guys with the crap one can't throw away.
I think I have 7ish guys filled up with crap I "desperately need". Which I mostly keep for a few months then sell it to the merch for it's fantastic value of a few 10 gold.
I want more storage. I just don't want it enough to shell out a few € for it.
Which then poses the question - how much do I REALLY need it?

True, but then again GW did start out as a game that wasn't meant to be played for AGES. As soon as they started modifying it to suit our (PvE-ers) needs of waiting to get a few thousand hours out of a 30€ game - the game pooped. The increased difficulty could actually be reason enough to continue playing the game. Of course this then means that not everyone is able to complete the game on their first try, with their eyes covered by a blindfold and one hand tied behind their back.
And some titles aren't REALLY that bad. Stuff like protector/cartographer are in reality quite decent ones. Because you get them by actually playing the game the way it was designed. You do missions, you explore the world. A questing title would be superb also. And that's what they should be looking at - crappy ass titles that are fairly easy to achieve because they pretty much only serve as an additional character description.
The problem is crap like PvE-skill-titles which SCREAM for grind.

This is exactly why this feature is desperately needed.
16 books * 8 chars = no fun
Anet is totally discriminating against people who like to switch it up between campaigns and difficulty levels. Why should I get penalized if I want to kill the Lich, hop over to Frost gate and beat it in HM, go show Kunnavaang whats happening, maybe BMP it for a while, and then reread my Golem User Manual to make sure Im using MOX correctly? Thats right, I shouldnt be.
Really though, I could see this feature being somewhat useful, but hasnt Regina already claimed that it would either be impossible/impractical? My solution is only take two, maybe three books per char at a time. If you dont see yourself using any of your ten different varieties of scrolls within the next five months, the scroll trader has a place for them. Again, decent idea, but I dont see it as being all that necessary.
And for the storage tab idea, how many people do you think would actually use it for books, honestly.

I'm sort of amazed that no one has really mentioned the skill books in all of this. They're books too and I have more of those than I do questing books. If you take into account that there are ten professions and each of those professions has two kinds of books, Regular and Elite, then you could have up to twenty different books that can't stack on each other... If they could find a way to store both in one area it would take a load off of my storage and out of my pack/pack mules.
I think in theory a librarian NPC is a good idea, but in practice it would just be one more freaking NPC loitering around in every major outpost that are already filled with some many other NPCs that makes it a bother to find the freaking merchant. Personally, I like the idea of a popup virtual library that you could open in towns and outposts with a tab for customized books, specific to each character, and then a generalized portion for skill books and maybe even runes and insignias that all characters on an account can get to. -Shrugs- Or Anet could be lazy and just combine all books into one giant book full of all the other books...

Wow, constructive. *rolls eyes*. They have given perfectly valid reasons for it. Their current servers could not support such an addition. Anet certainly have listened to our concerns, so to me they are far from lame. Just because it's not feasible at the moment doesn't mean it's not something they're looking to remedy.
I do hope however that they realize that storage is something that people are more than willing to pay real money for. I've said it before, i'll say it again; the money they would make from adding extra storage to the online store would probably pay for new/better/upgraded servers many times over. While I would never agree with adding in game content like weapons, armours etc to the online store for real money, something that needs extra server space, and that Anet currently doesn't have, I'd be more than willing to pay money for. Hell, if they set up a page for donations, I would DONATE money to them so they could upgrade their servers if it meant storage additions in the future.

I dont see why we need books at all. It should have been implemented like the sarrows furnace quests (sorry for the poor spelling). Each quest for (example) vanguard goes into the quest log when you pick them up from the HoM, and when you have finished said quest it says completed in the quest log, you can still get your XP, but until you have xx amount of any done you cant get your final reward. When you go see (example) the vanguard Hearld and get your 10,000 (just a number) vanguard points, at that point all the quests completed disappear and you can get them again from the original quest getting point. Yes it would mean a special tab in the quest log......
And with that said....
I do like the library idea a lot better.

I like the incubator idea...there would be ONE space for each book (either the hm or reg, not both and the young tyrian one as well--since there is no normal mode for it)....if you are carrying more than one copy of each WHY???? you can only fill in one at a time anyways.
so not quite a library (cause with 16 active characters thats just tooooo big)....

i dont see the need for this to be a unique npc. i prefer the idea of adding a storage mod for it but, feel that this is something that really shouldn't be a high priority. adding armor storage would be much more useful.
