Damage Meters
In WoW, the addon Recount provides an account of a DPS Character's effectiveness.
Such technology would be...helpful in GW.

master of damage is useful for finding a character's potential dps but not for finding their actual dps.
fortunately, knowing your average dps isn't particularly useful in guild wars. knowing that you're averaging 15 damage every second in a match isn't going to change the way you play.

If dots or dps was really important in GW, I could see asking for this. Otherwise not really.

Agreed. In a game where shutdown and hexes have so many elaborate and devastating effects, and protection magic provide such great damage mitigation, raw DPS isn't that important.

Yeah, because every enemy you fight stands still and has 60AL. Real helpful when you want to know how much damage you're doing.
Anyways, I'd like this, but it would never happen.

While it would be nice to know how much damage I'm actually producing, I would play around with it for a bit and then forget about it. Also don't know if it'll actually help either.

Damage meters really, really suck. As someone who healed raids in WoW for years, I eventually deleted Recount and cringed whenever someone linked them for no conceivable purpose other than to inflate their epeen. True, it can be used to point out that someone is slacking or to improve your DPS by 50 points, but more often it was used to brag in a game where, really, the only measure of success is, well, succeeding. If you brought the boss down, great. If not, try harder. Since WoW has been dumbed down to windowlicking levels of difficulty, trying harder is really never needed and meters are really just unnecessary and would be even more so in a game where the roles are often about shutting down or protting (which wouldn't show up on healing meters).
Plus, it would necessitate a whole engine change, counting degen as damage, adding a combat log, shit like that that nobody should care about because you should just be having fun fighting things.

No more UI, thanks. Just make a few more master of damages with different AL.

i'd like to see something like that in pve, for optimization purposes only. in pvp it would be nice to compare different skillbars (for example the - now dead - we with the old-fashionable eviscerate/shock), but as somebody said before, shutdown has very important role in gw, so a dmg meter alone is not that meaningful.
it would be nice, but it is no necessity.

Sadly you can't take him everywhere. I'm mixed about this because some builds are a mix between support and damage. Poor players may ask how much damage your doing, but not look at the whole picture.

I almost feel that if this was added, the general population would be wrongly pushing players to only use the builds that have the max DPS for their profession.
