It occurred to me earlier when I was messing around with my necromancer. Why are some hair colors limited to just one class? Her hair style is the same as a mesmer hair style, and their color options are much different.

I would like to see all hair colors available to all classes rather than the limited selection each class gets these days. Would such a thing be possible?

Such a suggestion would also benefit the non-core classes, who currently have far more limited options than other classes.

Which leads me to the second part of my suggestion/question.

As it is right now, the non-core classes have far less face options than any of the other classes. Will there be any attempt to add more face options to classes in the future? Some faces that already exist could also work for more than one class. That way you wouldn't be locked into one class only if you want a specific face.

I think its because necros are more macabre so they have much more gothic/punk hair colours and styles.

Whereas mesmers are all theatrical and have much more styled hair (necros are abit messy) and "respectable" colours.

Eles are just eles lol, i think blonde is more their theme, but i haven't actually made one in ages so i dunno what the majority of their colours are.

And to your question will there be new faces, thats pretty much a definate no.

It would take time to model new faces, and then to impliment them.

Unless theyre lacking money and want a new reason for you to all use the stylist i don't think they would add new faces.

Which is abit sad because they lack uniquity (if thats a word lol) I was kinda hoping with the stylist you could say have ele hair on your mesmer, or whatever. To make your char more unique.

To base the profession you choose on the physical attributes of the character's face is an odd way to choose your method to play the game.

Many of the facial characteristics don't suit the rest of the physical attributes of many of the classes, i.e. necromancers tend to look deathly as a result of their interactions with death, warriors have a large physique suited to their faces.

Other characteristics are suited to a particular region, Catha, Elona or Tyria. If you want a particular face, you're probably stuck with the particular class. Unless there's a huge demand for this, I don't think Anet will invest in additional functionality.

Different models are built up differently.

For example, Mesmer Gloves cover only the hands, and many caster classes change the earpieces when you change the chest armor.

To make a profession use the hair or the face of another, they must be adapted, and it seems that take some tim they don't have for now.

What I see is that the non-core professions could use some new faces and hairstyles.

There does seem to be an expectation that necros are all dead and rotting for the most part. People comment that my necro doesn't even look like a necro, because she's not that way.

That was part of my idea, actually. Some classes are similar enough that they could share. Eles, necros, mesmers and maybe monks could share. All the caster classes. Or another division if that works better.

It doesn't seem an odd choice to me. I liked the face, and I hadn't tried the class. I was lucky, and the class suited me very well. I can see why warriors and casters would be hard to switch faces for, but there's still a large choice of other classes that might switch faces without looking bad.

I'm thinking from the perspective of a female anyway, and there the difference's not that big.

I see the part about a certain region's faces suiting the natives of that region, of course. But even so, there's always features that could pass for belonging to several regions, or even suggest a mixed heritage. Morever, there's nothing saying that a member of one native heritage can't grow up in a different country/region.

True, those changes must be taken into account. Still, I reason that the bodies would remain unchanged, and the ears should be in the same spot pretty much on different heads.

The non-core professions are really my biggest concern. As I play with several members of non-core professions. Some of them have even said they would spend money on the stylist if they could mix and match. I can definitely see why, as assassins and ritualists in particular have the fewest options of any class out there.

I can live with not having cross-class features for every class there, as long as those non-cores get some extra options, really. I'd consider that a fair trade.

I wish they would, though. My Guild Wars characters are almost all based on roleplay characters from another setting, and sometimes the class that'd go best with their personality doesn't have their face or hair. I work around it, because I know it's not all about me, but sometimes I have to wonder why some classes get certain traits and others don't. I can't make a black-haired ranger, a caucasian ritualist, or a redhead sin. They allow blond sins, so it can't all be about the genetics.
