New Type of Armor
In the olden days of Guild Wars prestige armor used to mean something. It meant you were rich and skilled enough to farm the harder Prophecies areas. But, now, because of power creep, farming has become easier and easier. This came apparent to me when I taught my 6 year old sister how to smite in a 600 team. She was addicted to it for about 2 hours, got me around 80k,(child labor ) and then got bored.
If a 6 year old can make 80k in 2 hours, this truly shows have worthless elite armor is. I am proposing a new type of armor. It can be as expensive as obsidian but the defying factor is that it requires skill to get it. Like if you had to pass some "tests" based on your profession. IE a ranger would have to prove their interupting skills and maybe a warrior his knocklocking. There could also be a predetermined build to prevent gimmicks. The armor would have to be hard to get and flashy, to show that you are not just mindless farmer, you are also skilled.
Now I know people will say that it's not fair and everyone can't be skilled enough. That is the whole point. You don't need the armor. It is to prove you ARE skilled enough. What do you guys think?

Well I Still Think Prestige Armor Is Well 'Elite'.... Maybe Thats Cuz I Dont Have Much Money Lol!
And Im Pretty Sure Even If There Was A New Kind Of Armor With Your Suggested 'Tests' So Get It There Would Be Suitable Builds On Pvx Wiki Within About 5 Mins Of Launch, So It Wouldnt Be That Hard !
If You Want Proper Elite Go Obsidian Lol
Just My 2Cents...

i think this is an amazing idea! i remember when playing this game had a point and pvp was fun and people had to do things with parties of other people. now its just "hey ill go solo every enimy in GW at one time and make infinity money!" and i RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOing hate pvx wiki. i hate all the wiki builds in pvp. sorry i strayed from the topic its just my ranting. but yeah i definately think there should be a new armor like you mentioned

Letting anyone use your account breaks the rules, also, the game must not be plaid by children under 13 years old. Please report yourself to NCSoft Support.
Now, there are several places like the ones you ask:
- Gamer title. Shows skills in areas that have fixed builds.
- Dwarven Brawling
- Polymock. AAAAll about interrupting skills.

Isn't this kinda what we already have?
To get Elite Canthan armor, you have to beat Factions, etc etc etc
No test would be unfarmable.
Plus, armor was never really elite. Guys who go "LOL I'm rich and you aren't noob" never proved anything.

I'm not sure your idea will work.
There are builds that can easily achieve what you have posted.
Plus with things for like the interrupt suggestion, some people lag enough to where they can't do it.
This essentially cuts off people who can't spend lots of money on a computer or internet, you've slashed many players in the face.
I can relate to this because I have nearly a constant 250 ms ping on Guild Wars (networking issue). It's incredibly hard to interrupt with a quarter second delay, and one of my friends who loves this game has the crappiest computer known to man, he has to deal with frame by frame playing (can't interrupt, KD, or chain with now can you?) but he still likes it.
Now why would anybody want to support an idea that totally isolates many players? That's just not cool.

First, I don't like the idea, if you want to know why, read what the others have already said.
Second, it is WAY too late to be asking for something like this. Anet has MINIMAL resources on GW1, and armor takes a LOT of time from the devs to get done correctly. Even if they added new armor (which they won't) they would need to program your 'test' and test it for bugs.
Armor is a PERSONAL goal. People who want armor to impress OTHER people are wasting their time. Should be getting armor that impresses yourself, and forget what other people think about it.

I agree with this statement. It's like titles, if I ever bother to vanquish Joko's Domain (never tried it) and so get Legendary Vanquisher, I'll be really satisfied. However, I couldn't care less what other people would think if I was to show it, especially since there isn't a way to tell whether I actually got it myself or paid for it.

Yeah but what if those tests would actually recuire skill. builds doesnt have anything to do with skill. by skill its right timing, teamplay, focusing etc. not pushing skills 1,2 & 3

Heh, It's not like elite armor means anything to me anymore. I've seen enough copycat monks with Ecto gloves and obsidian armor that I want to see in my lifetime. (Isn't that the most dull combination ever? Jesus talk about a waste of money <_<;).
I like the idea, but theres too many constraints, and elitism is something is something we could use less off.

Before I'd want Anet to even consider new armor, they need to fix all the glitches with the current armors.

Hmm.. I've played the game for 2 hours a day for 4 years, and trough my FoW/UW adventures, I have had a total of 1 ecto and 1 shard. I got so tired of looking at them alone in my storage, that I just sold them to the Mat trader.
I'm no where near getting FoW. I really just want the Rit teapot headpiece. :P I can live with the rest of the cheap armor. But I can't really afford the tea pot anyway.
That said, I don't mind the armor being expensive as it is. It makes getting FoW armor an interesting journey.

Meh, I disagree. Prestige armor is still prestige. Even if you buy all the mats, you still have to GO to fow and get the armor, which is sorta like what you're saying, and if they're gonna add new armor quests and stuff the armor would have to be REALLY cool (not another boring reskin) but if they're gonna spend the time doing that, there's more important things to do.

...I can just imagine people demanding that you display x set of armour just like you display LB in DoA or the various GWEN titles in the appropriate areas. I personally think it'd kill the whole point of armour being just for looks. I know GWEN armour requires you to get r5 in the relevant title, but at least you can achieve that just by playing through the game, if armour's all you're going for.

QFT
I have a friend on Guild Wars who recently got chaos gloves on a male warrior. He told me to be completely honest about what I thought. I said that it just didn't match, but that it was just my opinion. He just couldn't believe that I didn't think it looked good just because it was expensive I personally can afford elite armors but I have 1k sets on some characters just because I like the look better.
