Material prices changes the more your buy.
It will change if you yourself buy a large number of materials, so I think that's why they won't sell rare materials in 10s or allow an X number.

Yes x 1,000. Maybe for every X amount you buy the price increase Y% to prevent abuse. While we've seen that it's mostly impossible to spike the price of a Rare Material, a small amount of preventative action could be in place.
But seriously, this has needed to happen for a long, long time.

Buy 999 ectos at 4k then sell 999 ectos at 6k when the price jumps...
Trader prices adjust when people buy and sell, rare adjusts with each item, so if you can choose how many you want to buy, you can buy a bunch at once at the low price then sell once at the high price.
I know you can't buy 999 ectos at 4k a piece i'm just making a point.

Price is less trouble than having to click hundreds of times.
We should be able to ask the npc to sell or buy a specific amount of items.
The npc will then try by reiteration to sell or buy such an amount of items, one item at once.

/agree for 50%.
If you need 13 Steel ignots(or w/e). You need to buy 20. So you got 7 spare ones.
They can better say how many you like to buy.
So :
Steels Ignots [13]x ???? Gold
That would be better, otherwise you will throw some money away. You dont use the other 7 steel ignots. Maybe later, but if you can fill in what quantity you like, it would be better imo

This was my response last time this topic came around. Generally I try to buy my mats from players so that I CAN get multiples at a time, and for less.

Simple. Buy X would only work up to the price change, in this case 5 and then stop. Compared to current system it would still be much better. Besides price doesn't change that often anyway. If I buy/sell 50 Steel it's usually same price from start to end.

Grand Ecto Bailout idea needs a help? /doh
But seriously, an option to buy 10 would be enough (10 times less clicking when bulk buying is a huge improvement), and for technical reasons it would probably need to be selected BEFORE the price quote, so the price was correctly calculated. It's important because of how the prices jump, like the infamous 4,800 -> 5,500 step -- buying 10 at once shouldn't save you whole 6.3k if you bought them when buying 1 would cause price increase to the higher step.
If traders need anything, it would be a better price adjustments engine so they could respond to the market quicker and wouldn't get bought out of an item without significantly increasing the price.
