Brain-storming
Hey guys, i'm gonna throw out all my gripes and ideas for this awesome game we call Guild Wars!
First off, in many other online games and such there are undeniably superior graphics to skills used..what i mean by this is the skill animations in GW are severely lacking..like RoJ looks awesome but when i use..say, clamor of souls..i can barely see the animation in combat. This may be silly but i want to actually see some environmental effects and more animations to skills/ spells. (can i see a gosh-darned dragon when i cast rodgorts plzzzz)
I believe they should introduce more core skills to the dervish and paragon classes..i want to see a more diverse array of classes used in the pve & pvp metas and not just one sided gameplay.Just giving the dervish some more skills or un-nerfing some paragon elites like defensive anthem to not end after attacks..jeez.I think it's agreed that a-net could add more skills and make GW better rather than putting so much focus on GW2.
Ritualists need to be buffed, it'd be nice to actually see some in game rivalry between players who can take advantage of ritualists maybe better than some players can use monks...if you catch my drift. Perhaps a create and name some skills contest for GW is in order? Rits definitely could use some buffs.
Paragons need to have some useful elites and uses rather than imbagon...i wish more people would play these classes and integrate it into the current trends of the game...this is true for most classes that've been horribly gimped.
Warriors i think are fine for the moment..even though i'm still fuming from the pvp nerf of warriors endurance...maybe introduce some skills that help the warrior avoid all this melee hate the class gets (empathy, insidious, blind, etc.)this is true for all classes but maybe some new armor skins.
Assasins i think are the best executed idea for a class i've seen in GW.
They have good armor selection as well as diverse skill chains. although i have taken advantage of shadow form through the course of my playing..the nerf of it and introduction of new dungeon content could really boost the player grouping and increase the fun factor of actually playing HM areas with guildies/ friends..(don't hate on me for this plz..just a suggestion not what i want to happen lol)
I think monks are fine...like said above, maybe implement some better skill animations (make them larger) to increase their appeal to newer players and renew an interest from long-time users. Like when i use word of healing maybe some canthan (oriental) lettering streams from the sky and embraces my target. or when patient spirit is cast..a celestial being (angel) holds hands up to mouth in a "shhh" kind of way...and flies up releasing the healing...kind of weird typing this but the idea in my head is much cooler.
Mesmers for the moment are right where they need to be..maybe some less-odd armor skins(males) for the class and shorter skill recharges with slight debuffs to skills may make the class more...noob-friendly.
Necromancers i think are implemented well too, their armor is wicked and good skill names and lots of uses for them..can't think of anything for them..but again, bigger skill animations that look more..colossal for lack of better words. and maybe buff minion base damage.
Elementalists, in my opinon, are strongly swayed into the fire magic attribute...it's really the only majorly effective type of magic in most areas.
And for goodness sake...this is a mage class, the animations for the skills are weak..i mean honestly? maelstrom should look like a tidal wave or rip currents...not just like a mud-puddle...and the armors and weapons for this class? WTB Creativity 100k+250e.
Rangers i think are right where they need to be...not much to say for this class..but i strongly feel the attribute system screws me on being able to use a pet...not enough points to allocate into many areas to be honest...either you run pet build or bow build...it's just unfair, i want to be able to use my pet effectively and not have to micromanage all the time. someone out there knows what i'm saying...zzz
GW needs more skill buffs, more integrated classes to support the party rather than the current meta, more competition in the area of healing...rits vs. monks...more weapon / armor skins...and my biggest peeve, the weak skill animations.
Post discussion on my ideas but please don't flame me if you disagree on small tidbits of what i said.
Anything i may have missed feel free to discuss, just felt the need to get these ideas out into the open.

This made me smile
A lot of skills need to be looked at, but I don't think updating armor and skill animations would be worth the effort. Rits and paras could use some love, perhaps just reverting some of the old nerfs that were done for pvp purposes.

They were deliberately kept simple to keep minimum requirements low. Besides, if they were all made big and flashy it probably get annoyed after a while. Sort of like how fireworks everywhere is annoying.

To making crap skills better, there are some skills/areas that need buffing but it's not just as easy as saying 'lets just fix all the skills'. To the bolded part, you couldn't have possibly been more wrong. More skills = fail.

Non core classes tend to suck at times, Rits especially. Agreed that they need a buff, but they've needed it for years now and nothings happened.

They do, it's just that PvE skills are so stupid and gimmicky that there isn't any reason to use anything other than imbagon for Paras. Saying thats the only viable build is wrong though.

Hmmm, they don't get much use at all in serious PvP and run through PvE with more stupid skills like SF. I wouldn't say thats a well executed idea.

Definately not true. Each element has a purpose, and there are times where its useful. Fire sucks hard in HM, whereas Earth is much more useful. Also, I find the armors to be fine.

There are 2 threads for this, just pointing it out for the mods incase they have not already noticed.
Anyway, my thoughts on the subject:

No, A-net should, and will focus on GW2. GW is over 4 years old, its a dying game, im sure many people will believe that getting a new game out is far more important than attempting unneeded additions to the game (do we really need any more armour skins, the core classes have about 30).
The game should have stayed at 6 classes, trying to get 10 perfectly balanced is nigh on impossible. As long as those 6 classes maintain at balance in PvP, I am happy. In PvE it doesnt really matter, just because I have a sin doesnt mean I must use MB/DB or permaform. Im sure alot of players would rather play what they enjoy over a gimmick in PvE.
