I cant remeber exact build details, but back when [the current guild] didnt own cavalon the other major luxon guild did there was an incident. This involved someone from the [opposite] alliance getting into the other huge alliance and pretending to be someone he wasnt. He pretty much made friends with everyone helped everyone wasnt a pain in the arse and was pretty much exact good officer material. So the leader promoted him to officer said his goodnights the following night, and awoke to find himself in a empty guild except for the officers. This new person had infiltrated and pretty much took down the entire guild and a hell of a lot of faction by just kicking everyone (80+ people) and couldnt be punished.
so while your statement way well be very true, there are also incidents where an option like this is needed.

QFT!
Why would you choose to make someone an officer and then limit their powers?
Why would you choose an officer that you don't trust?
This doesn't make any sense.

So Arena Net should waste company resources to implement changes that would benefit 1 guild?
I am certainly glad you aren't in charge of ANYTHING.
Arena Net should spend time developing things that benefit the most amount of people AKA the majority.
Once again this suggestion isn't needed LEARN TO CHOOSE GOOD OFFICERS!

If you read back you can see there are people from 2005 saying that someone kicked every member of their guild etc. i dont recall saying that areanet should stop it JUST for that one guild. I was making a point that you might promote someone who you think you know and trust and all the rest and actually your wrong.
I'm so sorry that not everyone is as perfect as you.

well sucks to be that guild. if your in a spot like that dont promote people. its very easy i think. and its not that complicated who cares if some one dispans your guild. you could just make everyone officers and then only the guild leader could kick them. this is a worthless idea. other things like makeing old skills useful and or moving of some of the core skills to balance out the skill base.
there is already so much stuff in this game that you can do to say "hey im better then you" we dont need any more ego boosts.

I have had an issue where a druken officer promoted an inactive account to officer instead of kicking whilst I was away.... not funny to then get phone calls about this needing me to log in and demote....
Also I dont want all my officers to be able to kick people, just the ones really trusted and known. A new officers being able to kick? Erm no thanks.
So I really want to be able to choose who can kick and I sure as hell don't want any one other than me as guild leader promoting officers.

promoting good player, / bad officer
Wow, some folks must only promote their personal friends. I had the kick everyone incident a few weeks after i promoted someone who had been in guild over a year. This was a player that we had trained, helped, and supported until he was a really good player, however, he had a friend in another guild who convinced him to leave us and go to his guild and he told him that it would be a really funny joke to kick all my members before he departed. So even though he was a trusted member, he became an untrustworthy officer. You can try all you can but pretty anyone can become a rogue officer if he has friends to encourage him.

Hear hear. Don't forget we are dealing with humans in an online setting, sometimes not everything is what it seems.
I suppose I've already signed somewhere in this thread, but it sure would be nice of we could have more options in the guild privileges.

It would benefit every guild, and the vast majority of players that are part of a guild. I don't see why there are more guild options in a game called Guild Wars. Even something as simple as an internal ranking system.
If you would like a lesson on paragraphs and how to make them, let me know, Toxage. Also, CAPS LOCK is much like makeup. Used sparingly, it can be quite fetching, but use it to excess and you just look dirty.
