Actually only guild leaders would get a commission off what members buy in off the npcs.

Terrible idea because I bought my guild's merchant, and I'm not the guild leader. If you are in a guild where other officers bought the features of the guild, it is unfair to them.

The idea is perfect. Of course Guild leaders should get a profit. They bought the npcs. Let the leaders get a 10% commission of items purchased and let the rest go to cantha.

Well I recognize the value of the gold sink, I'm not completely opposed to the idea. The major problem is the huge commission you're proposing. 50% of all sales? A good guild leader would turn around and give the gold back to his members, effectively giving everyone in a guild a half-off on all items.

If your guild is full of broke people, just do what mine did. Start up a "guild fund" and hold money on one char, or somebody else that's trustworthy, and every so often people donate a little cash toward a particular NPC. If somebody wants that particular NPC bad enough, they'll put some cash in. 5k every other couple of days from 3-4 guild members adds up. I'm sure that's nothing to all the uber1337 3ct0 f4rm3rz, but with those of us who aren't afraid of sunlight, it's pretty sweet.
If you have problems picking out an NPC... then you're in the wrong guild.

The guild leader isn't always the one who buys the NPC.

It's bad enough now with lots of people wanting to be Guild Leaders ... imagine what would happen if that was implemented...

Signing your own suggestion ?
I'm not a leader, not even an officer. Still some of my money was used to buy those NPC's. Should I get some commission too?
This feature is not needed. You bought those NPC's for yourself to use too.
/notsigned.
PS. If you are in good standing with your GL, you would just buy stuff for the full price, the GL would receive the commission, and port that 10% right back to you. Cheap stuff for everyone, yay.

For those who don't know it costs a lot of gold to get the npcs. 10k to 100k for all the npcs.
|
Buying a npc for a guild hall is just not spending gold on anything else.
When I formed HML as split of LotU I got the sigil from a guildie and bought the npcs myself (I did not allow others to donate, do the math on how much that set me back...).
I know that we would also had a full hall the same day as the split if my guildies had been able to buy the npcs.
It's my investment in the guild besides my spare time.
I think that's what a guild is about. Team effort.
If you can't afford a full hall as guild, so what?
Not every player has the 100K for the most expensive npcs but do you really need them? And if so, why not have 5 guildies donate 20K each? Or 10 guildies 10K each.
I don't see any reason why I as leader should get gold for something that is not even needed.
My first guild had a completely empty hall and still I managed to get everything I needed from outposts and towns.

It's a comission and 10% isn't much either. You guys the npcs, great and then when a player purchases (for ex: an ecto) automatically a small percentage would go into the account of the guild leader. Whatever the GL decides weither to split it among others should be his decision.
Plus this should take the idea of most guild players trying to pull illegal gold purchases. I certainly don't believe in buying gold and this idea is a great way to discourage it. 10% isn't a lot. To actually make guild members donate gold is terrible, especially if they might not have it. Think of commissions of the npcs as a fund raiser for your guild, yourself, whatever.
Many players decide to not buy all the npcs for his hall because it does get tiring to always come up with 100K after a few other just to get them. Guild leaders should get them.

You guys are taking this topic way out of hand. You are just talking about a Weapon Smith and Merchant. How about grinding to buy every npc including the 100k ones.
I put my time and gold nurturing a very good guild with a fully loaded hall. There should be a reward and commission. Making gold these days isn't easy anymore and this is a nice way to to go on about it, period.

Id say thats your own damn fault for not asking for a collection in the guild and a vote as to which trader should be bought when.
Im not a GL, but an officer in our guild and I bought about half of the traders myself, the rest were split between a guild collection and the GL buying them herself.... Who gets the commissions for purchases then?
Your idea to have even the mat, dye and rune traders throw off commissions is so extremely lame it hurts just to think about thinking about it.
