Mounts would be kind of cool, but only if they were only usable in explorable areas and didn't give any kind of bonus, and if map travel was still implemented.

QFT.
ive got 1 friend thats a WoW-aholic, and one thats a LOTRO fangirl. they argue CONSTANTLY about which is better. i usually stay out of those arguments cause they BOTH think GW is a ripoff of BOTH of them, even though it came WAAY before LOTRO.

Only?
- Area-exclusive events. Like:
*A pillar that can be only pulled down with a certain mount.
*Or an island or floating rock inside an area only reachable with a certain mount.
*Or an enemy that can only be damage with the attacks of a certain mount.
*Or a mission that must be done while riding a certain mount.
There may be a lot of reasons. You only have to think a bit.

MID AIR BATTLES!
Can you imagine it? Flying around on a dragon/pheonix/unicorn/other cheesy animal and having to dive and soar in order to dodge attacks!
In my opinion though mounts should be raised, find an egg/pup deep on your treks and you raise it much like a hero, i also enjoy the idea of being able to buy armour for it or take it to a groomer and get its hair cut and dyed or scales glossed.
Just another outlet for our creativity and a chance to say,
"Do you like our matching 15k norn armour?"
"Its lovely! Now can we please divebomb that charr regitment?"

If any green migrates into GW2, it should be that one.

I like that idea of raising a mount. You get liek an egg, and (either a random mount, or certain mount for certain eggs) would hath. And you do sort of a scavenger hunt quest , or wait a week or so for it to hatch / grow.
The only solution to having mounts be cheaply available (and not liek current mini's) would to have them Customized at birth (as soon as it hatches, you can no longer sell/trade). Of course if unhappy, you could "dis own" it, and restart process, or keep the one you got.

GW2 Companions
The system of companions and allies is being reworked. Companions will have customization similar to Heroes. Players will be allowed to bring a single companion with them, who will not take up a party slot and are considered an extension of the character. When a player chooses not to bring a companion, their character will instead be buffed so that they will not be disadvantaged by not bringing a companion.

I'd go either way, but I don't see this as something we need. Seriously, if you're just looking for a game that implements anything that's just "pwnage", you're in the wrong franchise. Can't there be one game that doesn't add things because they're "l33t"?

Basically, the argument that mounts could double as sieges or things for PvP battles is completely irrelevant, because there's no way it would ever happen. So, there are only 2 logical reasons mounts would be added.
1. Traveling
2. Really big minipets
Since we already have map travel, that eliminates option number 1.
I think you get my point.

Maybe that Monument (the one u put pets and heroes in) will provide you with a special "mount" or "companion" . Just for those of us that played GW1 .

You right, your (personal) mount would not double as seige units, but thats not what we are getting at.
Mounts would be added for the sole purpose of Seige units (that would be mounted during that battle like a seige devourer. not somthing you own, but that is out there for anyone to use).
However mounted pvp, is Not completely out of the question. GW team said they wanted to add crazy new things to guildwars, and that its just a waste to add to GW1. That alone leaves anyone's (constructive) idea's possible.
Saying "These XXXX so and so, Will Never be Added" is simply unprovable at this moment in time. You can be "Destructive" and take down everyone's new ideas. However you'll look like an awful jerk-off when gw2 comes out with whatever ideas that you put down .

1) excluding what the stone summit ride....what is there to ride? there are no horses seen or anything in the game, unless I have just not noticed.
2)in a way, we already have 2 mounts, Siege Devourers and Junudun Wurms.
3)pointless with map travel, although for gw2, might not be a bad idea.
4)to many noobs will try to show them off.
/notsigned at least with the suggestions I have read.
