Wrapping Paper
The title says it all really, my idea is simple to implement wrapping paper into the game so that you can wrap items/stack of materials/etc.. so that you can give them to people to open or open yourself if you have no friends! Call it stupid but currently there is a lot of stress in GW with all the debate on balance, is GW 2 blah blah whatever...
I'm keeping in mind Guild Wars is a program run by a company (basically) and as a company they want something that is going to benefit their product. This is simple and there are many ways that you could make this work (certain paper types only drop in 1 area or make a wrapping paper trader) During holidays he can sell different types of wrapping paper, you get the idea and how simple yet fun the idea can become.
Discuss!
(Real easy thing to do too eh?)

So basically fill-your-own-Festival/Wintersday/Birthday gifts? I like it a lot actually! Especially if we could get a few re-skins for different paper tastes.
/Signed. Gift giving is fun, and even more so when you have something to open!

If it's cheap and easy to do then it could be fun, but I think the novelty would wear off quickly unless people actually gave meaningful presents. Also, people will probably sell presents (with 1 gold/other insignificant item in them) to new players for heaps of cash saying they've got gold items inside. A bit of common sense would prevent this but common sense isn't as common as it used to be.

Great idea, but I can see people getting scammed by it. I'm all for it though.

It would be a lot of fun. But sadly, there are sleaze-balls out there who would turn it into a scam fest - trying to pass them off as Gifts of the Traveller and what-not.

So this idea basically.
Scam City as far as I can tell. I'll leave this open though, for now. In the future always make sure you search the forum before posting a "new" idea. Thanks!

Rather like this idear, as there are so many occations for presents ... and scamfest why? Just dont buy presents that say they are "Personal or Wrapped" presents. (so naming them correct is a first )
And I liked the idear of a wrapping kit alot (die would make it more prone to scams as presents could be died to look similar), so a different design would be nice...
Also special holidays could have special wrapping kits as (buyable) rewards (different from the holidays presents) so you can give a special holiday gifts also ... all these wraps would fill our chests in no time and make us buy more storage panes :P

Good idea, and it seems like it would be pretty easy to implement.

This idea would be nice. I remember some guilds I were in, members (myself included) would sometimes gather several members and give away items they weren't using. Generally they weren't particularly good items, (except if it happened to be something you needed in particular) but it was a fun sort of event.
Wrapping paper would enhance this sort of thing somewhat, particularly if it costs no more than, say, 10 gold per wrapping.

Make these function outside of the normal trade system and there is no problem. Of course, this involves more coding, but it's a terrific idea.
Even modifying the existing trade setup would work, basically allowing one player to put up what they are giving away, and have the rest of the trade be automatically completed, meaning the player receiving the gift would click Accept Gift(s), which would automatically force their submit and accept. Give a warning to prevent people from using this instead of trade by accident.

This would definitely work. There would be no reason to trade a gift wrapped by a player in normal trade anyway. At the very least they could disable the ability for the receiver to trade money or items back while they are getting a present.
