A Traveler's Pack
Hi everybody.
Not sure if this struck anybody else, but I think this could be quite useful.
The Equipment pack was nice, don't get me wrong. I love the ability to place my armor and weapons in there, at a whim. However, it is rather rare that I ever have the need to have 25 pieces of armor and weaponry on me at any given time. I mean, most people will only ever use up to 8 different weapons at a same time, and maybe ( just maybe) a seperate set of armor.
Now, what is really clogging up my inventory?
Stuff that I have that I don't want to get rid of. Useful party stuff for doing whatever I'm doing. I'm talking consumables, sweets, booze, stones, candies, zaishen coins, handbooks and tonics. That stuff takes up a huge portion of my inventory, as well as my Xunlai Storage too. By the time you have 3-4 Handbooks, Honeycones, Consumables, Summoning Stones, Candy Canes, and other stuff, you've practiclly lost your main backpack before you even head out into an explorable area.
My suggestion is a traveler's pack, a bag designed to hold up to 20 of the following above items. The bag would be earned through Zaishen coins, and like the equpitment pack, would require more coins for the better bags. A bag like this would, in my opinion, keep the above items out of my main bags and give me more room for stuff I pick up whilst playing.
Just my thoughts anyway.

I have no problem filling up 20 (not 25) weapon/armor slots. Many people collect elite armor just to look good, not necessarily because they have different functionalities (My War has 4 sets, my Ele has 3; some people on Guru have 8+). There are heaps of reasons you'd have more than 1 armor set: looking good, farming set, high health set, high armor set, low health set (E/Mo infuse spam), etc.
Also, with your 'I don't need all of that stuff with me at once' argument, I could say the same to you about consumables. No offense, but if you need consets/summoning stones/DP removers for EVERY area you're doing something seriously wrong. You can leave that crap in storage and take out a candy cane or two when you think you're going to need them.
/notsigned. We have heaps of space.

Obviously I don't need consumables on every single area, I'm not retarded.

No one's saying your retarded. It seems that every time there's an addition like this in the game, people always want just a little bit more, especially with storage.
The storage isn't necessarily what we need more of. Changing the attitudes and habits of people is what needs to change.
Again, I'm not singling you out specifically, I'm just commenting on an observation that I've had over the last few months.

Books are not needed very often, and you don't need to carry one of each anyway. I have learned to not take them at all on most of my characters, and just pay the 100g to fill in the pages later. You don't need consumables, sweets, alcohol, etc. to play the game, but if you want to use them, you need to deal with the minor setback of inventory space. I can get by with 5 slots in my inventory for consumables (1 Armor, 1 Grail, 1 Essence), 1 Summoning Stone, and 1 Sweet (usually Red Rock Candy or Honeycomb). Then I still have room for my weapons and space to pick up loot.
As noted, it isn't a matter of needing more inventory, we already got more of that. It is a matter of learning how to manage the space you have.

If you have probs , merch summoner says hi !. More space , more junk . Imagine you only have 4 panels on Xunlai and deal with it , when you need space for real ( about 5 or 6 real good drops or mods ) youll have that space. Easy . So ...
/notsigned , junk cleaning ftw.

At first i thought he was retarded ... but on second thoughts i rather like part of this idear ... mainly the speciality bags ... im not waiting for another slot in my inventory with yet another bag ... BUT, it would be nice if there were more speciality bags that can be equiped on the added bag slot ... to mind come :
- Consumables bags for buffing items (5/10/15 slots - for Sweets/ConSets/Stones/Buffing consumables)
- Collectable bags for items that can be brought to collectors (5/10/15 slots) (farmers bag so to speak)
- Party bags for Party Items (5/10/15 slots - for Booze/Tonics/Masks/Fireworks/etc)
- Materials Bag for Crafting Mats (5/10/15 slots - for all the crafting mats farmers)
- Miniature Bag to Store Miniatures (5/10/15 slots - holds only miniatures)
- Bookshelve to store all the books (5/10/15 slots, since i doubt there are 15 books out there perhaps this bag could be combined with say miniatures, in which case it holds books and/or miniatures)
- Rune/Insigna's bag (although i still dont get why i have a pane of them in my Chest, but apparently i tend to hold on to them, incase i need them, so i dont have to buy them)
- Weapon Bag only for Weapons (5/10/15 slots)
- There is allready an Armor bag
- Any other catagory of items i forgot bag... 'Coin-Items' or Paints -perhaps
These bags should offer players a choise asto what they equip in the last bagslot, some will prefer to drag along more armor, others prefer to drag along Consumables, some farm collectables or others concentrate on materials. Miniature collectors like to take their minitures along, so they can pick the miniature for the occasion. Some just like to party when/where ever they can... So Not more bags, just a choise asto which items you want to 'store/drag along/keep away from your main bags'-bag ...

Ideally, the inventory would look like this:
Backpack
Belt Pouch
2 Bags
Large Equipment Pack
Rune Bag (for salvaged runes/insignias)
Book Satchel (for rep books/tomes)
Dye Kit (for dyes)
Goodie Bag (for sugar/alcohol)
But that's not going to happen, and it would be way too big and convenient. I'll settle for making equipment packs cheaper, because I don't want to waste time farming for a larger pack and the little one I've got is just not enough to hold my still-growing armor collection.

At this rate, extra storage is gonna be so high in demand that people are gonna ask for bags to put their bags in.
You don't need all of that stuff. You really don't need to be holding all of that stuff at once. Budget your space better, the amount of storage we have right now should be adequate for anyone's needs.

I think the equipment bag was enough. We don't need more specialty storage.

I got a medium equipment pack, I use it to hold three sets of armour.
Sure, they may each be for a particular build and thus theoretically only switched in towns (Elite Kurzick and Ancient for general spellcasting, Norn for Spirit's Strength, Vabbian for spirits) but I like to switch the set I'm wearing sometimes; say for screenshots, time walking around with no enemies in sight, and sometimes to use in combat anyways just because I feel like it, even if it's not optimal for my current build.

I'd actually take Zhed with me more often if he had saddle bags. :P

I have 6 sets of armor for healing specifically, and random other sets for looking awesome. :] I also carry around 25 weapons.
I kinda fail to see a strong argument for the traveler's pack. I understand being a packrat and wanting to carry around consumables, books and other awesome stuff, but I don't think it deserves a whole other bag. Leave some of it in storage, or go through your storage and mules and clean out stuff you don't absolutely need. I've gotten in the habit of not picking up bad drops in dungeons or pve too. I usually ID something and drop it for inventory space unless it has a mod I need or want.
This stuff that you don't want to get rid of can probably take the spot of something you can get rid of. All of us lived with minimal storage before, I'm sure you can find some way to manage now with increased storage.

what the game needs isn't more speciality bags for characters...it needs more of those sspecialized slots for the xunlai chest
Especially for al that stuff, that doesn't change its name due to upgrades ect, so everythign except weapons and armors.
The chest needs especially a special slot like the material slot for:
- MINIPETS (most important)
- Consumeables (keyes, dyes, eotn stuff, summon stones ect. everythign that gets 1 less of usage if u double click it ...)
- Salvaged/bought Runes/ Insignias/Weapon,Shield+ Focus Upgrades
alone these 3 Xunlai Chest Slots would help damn alot the players to reduce their exploding full inventories to a minimum

I always thought we should have a book bag of some kind. I tend to carry around 4 EOTN books at any time on all my characters, so it would be nice.
More storage is never a bad thing.

While I don't think a single person here would actually COMPLAIN if they gave us more storage, there's no doubt that for most people, the only thing they need to work on is their managemant of the storage they already have.
About the only form of additional storage I could see making a somewhat valuable addition would be one for minipets. I mean, we get given them every year we're here - for anyone with a more-or-less full complement of characters, that takes up a lot of starage, even for those that sold a lot of their duplicates. A Xunlai pane like the materials storage would be good there. If we could drop one of each minipet in there, (onto a little template perhaps?) then any duplicates we care to carry would be off our own backs. I wouldn't even mind A-Net chraging for the priviledge.
But storage for consumables and runes is a bit unnecessary. Sure, people are stockpiling stackable drops on account of Nic, but that's their own decision. We've only just been given four extra panes as an option. A bit early to come begging.
