I remember back when we only had one storage 'tab', people were whining about it back then.

They added 3 more tabs and a material storage..

People are still whining about it now... Maybe you should clear out the junk/stuff you never use instead of always wanting moar moar moar

They added 3 more tabs... almost 2 years ago. And since then, they added a HUGE LOT of entirely new items worth keeping, and still keep adding more and more.

Seeing them add lots and lots of new stuff worth keeping and not providing means to keep them is a big pain.

Pathetically small stoarge - 2nd most important PvE issue at the moment imho (only the lack of a solid LFG solution and the death of pugs beats that)

I rly like the dye tab, and maybe a armor tab, though it gonna be a huge tab then. Maybe only for elite armors / full armors.

But more likely I wanne say, please DO NOT PURCHASE MORE STORAGE ROOM! When I think of this, its gonna ruine the whole economy (as far as it hasnt been runed yet) Now people in the ventari's corner oftenly sell their stuff cause they need more room in their storage. This makes a lot of people happy cause they need it. If you get more storage space, people will just keep sitting on the items they got and not sell them, doesnt look good to me. It doesnt have to be a disaster, as there is a Buy section aswell, but still doesnt sound good to me.

I wouldn't really worry about that too much. people being what they are, those extra storage tabs will be filled before you know it...

People will always be selling their junk-good and bad-so there's no reason to fear for the GW economy...

There IS NO ECONOMY. There is a rudimentary trade system and some things you can buy that are very ROUGHLY based on supply and demand, but this does not constitute an economy. It's just a bunch of wankers bitching about prices.

More storage is win.

We've needed a larger storage space for a very long time, especially with the introduction of the Hall of Monuments. To add armor to it, you have to have the whole set (minus the helmet). And after spending all that money, who would just salvage it after putting it in the HOM to begin with? Same with the mini pets and weapons (even though only Tormented and Destroyer ones go in there).

If nothing else, give us special storage places JUST for armors, weapons, and minis. Those alone take up a crapload of room. So...yeah, definately fix the storage.

extra storage isn't going to help things. give it a couple weeks and people will once again be complaining that they don't have enough storage and start thinking that they'll need more again. use a merchant if you're that put to it for storage. there are few things of any use keeping any more.

what would be nice (and kinda cool if you ask me) is if we could get something like the PVP armor/weapon system. where instead of being able to create new ones we create bundles out of existing armor and weapons so that they only take up one slot in the inventory. so then you can double click and you equip all your armor and weapons that you have bundled. You could make an in game merchant (kinda like the hat guy) that would create a bundle for you. i'd be more for a system like this than plain old storage.

While I still want extra storage, I would definitely go for something like this. Maybe not for droped items, but for anything crafted, like armors or weapons. That way we could pay the big loot and materials to unlock the armor, and then it would be 'unlocked' on our account. The only problem might be if you dye it. I am sure they could come up with some sort of compact way to store that information though.

Another nice thing might be a crafter who mods your armor/weapons for you. That would allow you to have two or three sets of armor, rather than many sets, if all you had to do was go drop 100gp to switch out insignias/runes without having to worry about losing the armor or using a perfect salvage kit. Why keep 5 sets of armor when 2 will do (HoM notwithstanding)?

/Storage command is a quite strange idea. It's good to lazy ppl like me and Lex but on the other hand it's not most important for this while.

Runes should be stack-able. Like as up, my opinion about this idea is "yes or not". All runes i sell to trader if i don't need their.

Minipet storage. Oh yeah. I have to created new storage charr to keeping my 30 minis, which i bought in only one day. ;p

Collector Item storage tab, nah, i sell everything from this stuff.

Dye Storage. I like to collect any collor of dyes, then a half place with my one part of storage is full. Agree.

Have the ability to purchase more storage. Np! Even if the one slot will be cost ~100k. ;]

Armor Storage. Definitely yes. But i have been reading that is quite hard to put this into the game (runes and insignias problems). But we will see...

Key / Quartermaster Token Storage. Not important for me.

Green Weapon Storage. It will be nice, but i can exist without this.

Summary:
1. Have the ability to purchase more storage
2. Armor Storage
3. Minipet Storage
4. Dye Storage

/Storage command? we have instant map travel. That's enough. If an outpost has a chest too far, you can always go to somewhere else.
Runes should be stack-able.? No. They don't need to be the next ecto. Unlike materials, that may be needed in big bulks of more that 250, you never need more than 1..5 runes of the same type and traders usually have most of them available. Buying and selling from them it's a gold sink you may not like, but gold sinks are needed, and must stay.

Minipet storage. Most people I know usually go to the Xunlai Chest and use all miniatures with all characters. For that, the best option would be miniature unlocking. Go to the Xunlai Agent or toy maker and make a customized copy of your miniature, instead using the chest to store them.

Trophy storage tab, they are too many items, even if we made something like the material storage for them, they would still be too many. Faster trading it's better for items with so many variations, like trophies or weapons.

Dye Storage. They have a trader. Traders serve as market aid, a place to have items almost always available and gold sink. We have material storage, but we may use materials in bulks of 250, but never dyes.

Have the ability to purchase more storage. More storage will eventually get filled. As much as I would love more storage, ways to make storage less necessary are even more needed. Both would be the best option, though.

Armor Storage. Again, there are too many armors. So charater-based unlocking it's best. The main reason I don't buy more armors it's because I would have to ditch the old ones.

Key / Quartermaster Token Storage. Not necessary. An account-based keyring would be better than that. Drag keys and lockpicks to the keyring icon, and you get to use them in explorables.

Green Weapon Storage. Since they are all fixed items, unlocking would be better. Add a title to collecting green equipment, and you will ensure than even the training aras toy ones (Shing Jea and Istan) would get sales. That would be really good. Although we already have a title for killing bosses that can also be bought, this would be even harder and have even more merit, since no matter how hard you try, there are too many of them to get all of them from sales in a few days.

Summary:
- More storage, no mater how much is added, will always get filled, specially when new kinds of items are added over time.
- There are lots of armor. That would be a great gold sink if people could buy more armor without losing the ones they have. That can only be done with armor unlocking, instead armor storing, ince server space is limited.
- Miniatures, everlasting tonics, festival masks, armors... they are items people usually buy once and never need to get again, since they can use them as many times as they want. Again, unlocking it's the best part for them.
- Dyes, runes, scrolls... unlike materials, that must be used in big bulks, they are used in reduced amounts. You NEVER need 250 dyes the same day. So they don't need storage, they just need traders. For that, a weapon upgrade trader must be designed and added, with a fair way around the variable properties of weapon upgrades (i.e.: Selling only maxed, paying full price for maxed ones and a small percentage for unperfect ones, less the more imperfect they are).

Keep that in mind.

Well, a bookshelf/some kind of storage for all the new books they've come out with in the last year would be very nice. I have 8 books right now for 1 of my characters, and while lack of space might encourage me to the get the missions all done so I can get the books out of inventory, it's still a pain to have them either in my personal inventory or in the xunlai chest.

I must add 2 things here:

First: Unlocking = Storage, but done Wrong Way.

Unlocking takes as much server space as Specialized storage would. But it brings lots of hassle and lame item copying that woud feel really awkward. (customized minipets? need to make a copy for every character =fail)

Instead of unlocking do a simple put-in and take-out mechanism - instead of making bits of data go from 0 to 1 and staying that way (unlocking) do 0 to 1 when you put the item in and 1 to 0 when you take it out of the specialized storage. Simple, and no need for item cloning bullsht.

And how about designing the game properely and making the amount of storage in game appropriate to the number of items players would want to keep?
How about keeping storage issues in mind every time you add new kinds of items to the game?
Oooh but sadly, it's too late. Anet probably never thought about it, because we can just buy more mules or accounts, right? So it's now too late for right design and we have huge tons of items we want/need to keep but no means to do that.

Only reasonable solution - find the best ways to store data about specific kinds of items or ways to squeeze in enough data for universal storage slots somewhere in account or character files, and remove *unnecessary* need for storage, like for example:

all the different Mission Books - huge waste of inventory space - why not put that data in a Quest Log and save it just as it was quest progression?

This still applies, dye trader doesn't help here at all and 11 dye stacks are a mainstay in my Xunlai.
Dyes could benefit from a specialized central storage as much as materials did. If a several bits of data is a problem here, they could use smaller stacks, like 32 or 64 in their storage tab... should be enough for most people.

Or an entirely new idea, you hear it here first:

Add the Dye Preview feature to the Dye Trader NPC!!
-Preview dye mixes without actually owning the dyes!
-Make the npc useful for something other than checking prices!
-Save up to 11 storage slots and never need to keep any dyes!
-Just 1 new button [Preview] - click it, then item to be dyed to open the usual Preview window where you can drag dyes from Trader's window. Add gray dye to his inventory for completion (100g but if you need just buy from merch), disable Apply button -no need for complicated things like autobuying.

However cool it sounds, I'd still like a dye storage tab more, 2 reasons:
-Accessibility (now I can mix in any outpost, and I love it as a way to fight boredom when waiting)
-Money (to actually save storage I'd have to sell my big fat stacks of dyes and keep selling every dye i find for miserable prices like 10g/ea, and then have to greatly overpay (up to 10x more) for every single dye I want to use.)

Of course, when I say unlocking, I mean unlocking single perfect items. Unlocking is for things you usually get only once and never need to acquire again. Most people won't buy a complete set of prestige armor twice since the addition of insignia.
That is, unlocking armor won't save nor unlock armor upgrades, neither colors, just the armor. Then many ways to change the armor could be made, maybe by keeping the runes, and just change the appearance, there are many possible valid ways to do so.
If you save all possible upgrades for each possible armor, you would make things worse.
Needless to say, items with traders won't be unlocked, they are usually available in traders.

With unlocking, for every single maxed item, you only have to save one single boolean variable. Have it or not. 0 or 1. Nothing more. Nor the runes you unlocked for that armor, nor the colors that armor would have.
In one byte, you can store 8 booleans: FF --> 11111111.
I don't know how many bytes does one item use in GW, but I'm pretty sure it must be more than 2 bytes. Let's say one item uses 4 bytes (it's probably much more for many items, though).
So, with unlocking, and considering each item uses 4 bytes, in the room for 40 items, we could save 40*4*8=1280 unlocks. Wow, eh? Even if each item used 1 byte, that would still be 320 items in the space one slot uses.
Now, unlocking, done right, it's the solution to save server space.

In the case of dyes, for accessibility, you have Dye Traders in Guild Halls. They exist for something. For money, kill more stuff. We don't need to reduce gold sinks in the game so some people save some gold and increase inflation.

I do think that the minimum buy price of items in traders should be 50% of the minimum sell price they may be bought from (like already happens with scrolls), though.

Well, i'll jump in here with my $0.02. Storage is directly related to the commerce economy. I have a TON of stuff in storage that I have tried to clear out, but the existing commerce system is terrible. I post WTS R8 AM+16 Str Shield and I wait...and wait....and wait....and wait. I can't believe no one even sends an offer! So it sits in storage. I believe there is some value to many of the items I'm willing to sell, but unless I have an efficent method to sell the items I'll hold onto them.

I agree with something that someone else said. Limited storage does force players to make decisions about what to keep and what to sell. That is overall a good thing. However, once you decide what to sell it's a nightmare.

You mean It's a nightmare to sell them?
Yes, it is. The first thing a game with so many outposts, towns, districts and 3 regions to spread people, it's a way to go around that, with global trading and party formation systems.
I hope GW2 gets that, otherwise it would be hell again.

Being able to sell stuff as soon as possible it's also one of the best ways to keep storage clean and clear.

i agree with stacking armor pieces but have something to add

i thing wen you hover mouse over it should tell you what pieces you have if you dont have complete set and it should say complete/incomplete and you should be able to put a costom prefix such as to lable armor, so prim armor sets with costom prefix could be
"running primevil armor set (complete)" or
"survivor primevil armor set (incomplete)"

A few comments:

1.) Server Space - considering how many people hoard items in various characters on their accounts, centralising these items into one storage area is not going to take up that much extra disk space in reality. Granted there are lots of people who don't have lots held on their account but, if dyes, inscriptions, mods, runes etc were to be made stackable, this would make life easier all round for all. Therefore making server space less of an issue.

2.) Books - yes, a Librarian NPC is an excellent idea and should be part of the implementation from ANet.

3.) Mini Pets - another NPC please with the ability to take out/put back in. Cannot be a storage tab since there are a.) too many and b.) new additions on the horizon. But please, not a selectable list like we have for the hats. Split them into Years (1, 2, 3, N/A) so its easier to find the minipet. ANet can then add easily to this list dynamically for any new additions to the minipets available.

3.) Rare Materials are sold individually but stack in storage. Therefore why shouldn't dye and runes.

4.) Stacking armour pieces - don't know if they can do this since each item is customised to a particular character - therefore how can they stack?

5.) Auction House - would solve a lot of problems but this has been requested since Day 1. We will never get due to too much programming and testing required when the company has focus elsewhere (GW2). Shame though.

The majority of storage though for me personally on my many mules are weapons. Yeah ok I keep a lot but I have collected these over the years. I cannot see Anet giving us weapon storage though (Sword, Axe, Staves etc). Please prove me wrong though Anet!!

Some extra storage will help alleviate problems here and there but we will never get a system that will please everyone. Will be interesting also to see what they are proposing for character based storage. Rune of Superior Holding anyone? (15 slots!)

ive scanned most pages and didnt see a suggestion for tome storage. just like dye storage ect.. but if your like me, and do alot of HM activities, and hate trying to sell stuff, then you collect stuff, ive got a full storage unit full of elite tomes, norm tomes, ect.. that i will one day get around to selling.
