City of Heroes has one of the most amazing and fun character creations. I would love to see a more involved character creator, along the same lines. I spend hours just making characters and not actually playing the game.

If guild halls operate the same, I feel it would be handy to have a sort of drop down menu to choose where you leave to from your guild hall.
E.g, instead of going to your last oupost, you have a choice of your last 5 etc.

Anywho, just a thought.

Something small that I would enjoy is that on your friends list you can see where they are, what district it is, if they're involved with a quest which one.

Just something neat. :O

OR just put guild halls on the main map like they used to be before the Battle Islands addition! Therefore you wouldn't need to do so.

But yea that's also a great idea.

Default day/night toggle

I'm not entirely sure how this would work, but I had this idea while playing The Sims 2. Some games allow you to choose between day and night, or they automatically change at a certain time. There are a few ways this could be implemented:
  • Have an option for the player to choose between day or night
  • Give the game its own time period, and at a certain time for the game the sun sets and rises
  • Based on your time zone when you register your account, have the Guild Wars environment change to night when it's night where you are, and day when it's day where you are. (This may not work since there are so many different time zones and this is a MMORPG, it's just an idea).

This way the game would have a little more variety, not to mention the screenshots you could take and videos for those of us who enjoy that as well as playing the game. And perhaps some quests could only be completed at night or something.

I know it's premature, cuz the dev's themselves probably don't know, but it would be great to know exactly what titles/pets/armor/weaponry/etc is going to count for cool stuff in GW2 BEFORE the launch (or even beta), so we can catch up on whatever we need to. I just can't see myself grinding every imaginable thing "just in case". Or, even worse, splitting my play time between GW2 and the original(s) to get stuff caught up.

I apologize if this subject has already been discussed ... I did not have time to read all 67 pages of this thread.... I'm at work (shhhhhh). I'm not really a forum reader/poster, although I do know the dev's get a lot of ideas from them, hence the post at all.

i had this craziest idea the other day: making our own elite skills.
I imagined it as an option gained pretty much the same time when u got the signet of capture in 1st playing proph (Magi Malaquire or something like that)
It would be like a window, with a nicely written algorythm to balance these self-made custom skills. Like for example...only attributes from primary prof->certain attributes have given chosable effects (so a monk healing skill will not steal energy from nearby foes and stuff like that), max 5 effects, some would be drawback to make it more balanced(exhaustion, condition on self, negative effect on self)...you could also alter EITHER the e-cost OR the casting time OR the recharge...unaltered things from this three would be calculated by the algorythm.Imagined cost in GW1 money standards is 3k each and 3 skill-points(fixed, not effected by the final skill). These skills should be elite (so you can only have 1 at a time), but also be less pwerful than elites captured later in the game from bosses. (for example: a custom made version of [enraged lunge] would have its max bonus dmg capped at 60 instead of 80). this is to balance the chance of making very pwerful skills in certain (early thought) circumstances.
I know skill-balancing is hard enough in gw1 alrdy without custom skills, but if given consideration this would be another unique thing in the series. You guys who could write algorythms to AI of heroes and foes and all should have no problem with this i guess...

It would be very hard to balance such a unique trade. I don't think it's yet possible but otherwise it would be a good idea

Tactical/strategic spells! Elementalists should be able to conjure up a Wall of Fire, or Ice, to block a region of the map. Necros could create rolling clouds of poisonous or disease-causing vapor. Mesmers can summon illusory mobs, or cause confusion making the enemy: stand still, attack a friend, run away, etc. Would make PvP battles more interesting, too! You'd have to do away with shadow-stepping, I suppose. Just a thought!

Default Jecht's Big Post of 10 things he wants in GW2!

Much of what I'm about to post will be regurgitation...be advised.

#1.) Character Customization Overhaul
Things to help with this?
-several customizable facial and body shaping features. Think The Sims 3, toned down a bit. Not quite as many options, but still a viable amount
-over 100 different hairtypes + several colors.
-Choice of voices. Possibility of giving our character a selection of voice actors. This feature is less important.
-Tatoos and piercings - I for one wouldn't use these as much but it would be cool to see other people use them on their characters. It adds to character customization and a feel of uniqueness.

*EDIT* - The character creation of AION or something similar to that would be perfect I think. Truly stunning video found here:
http://www.aiononline.com/us/media/video/video.html

#2.) More Emotes
I love to take screenshots of my characters and use the ingame emotes. I just wish there were more. Some ideas of more would be:
- /cry (show a character doing a crying effect)
- /w* (replace "*" with an emote. The character will wield their equipped weapons while performing the emote.)
- /playdead (player will act as if it has died)
- /wink (character winks playfully)
Also, a selection of different weapon stances and attack animations would be cool as well, but less important.

#3.) Skill-rewarded quests
I thought the way A-net gave the player extra skills in the Bonus Mission Pack with Gwen was really creative. Buying them from the skill trainer would be good, but an option to obtain them through quests would be good as well. Perhaps allow the player to choose? Also, while I'm on the topic of skills - beautiful customized casting effects for each one would be appreciated. (Think Paragon and the Wings.)

#4.) Roaming Badasses
Randomly I'd like to encounter a random foe of whom I have no information on prior to attacking. The foe could be neutral with a chance to completely be so powerful that it could beat the living piss out of you for attacking him. A sort of "neutral adventurer" of sorts, like the player.

#5.) Hud-Based Effects
Skills that could mess with the Hud of other players. Assassins that cloak and are not detected by the mini-radar, Mesmer skills that darken your skillbar and force you to guess when your skill has recharged, Necromancer skills that hex your character to force them to mouse their target instead of just hitting the "c" button. Things of that sort.

#6.) Hair-dresser and Auction house
At least you'll stop this from being a re-occurring topic in threads if you do it.

#7.) Make Title-Based items Droppable
Every now and then when I kill something like a corsair I'd like to get booze in a drop. It doesn't have to be frequent, so long as it happens every now and then.

#8.) Storage Overhaul
I have so many different armor sets thanks to the Hall of Monuments, that if something like this occurs in GW2 it's going to be the same Annoyance all over again. Tabs that give us:
-Dye Storage
-Elite Armor Storage
-Max Weapon mod storage
-Event Item and Consumable Storage.
would be greatly appreciated.

#9.) Switching Primary Professions on the Fly
I love my primary characters so much that I wish I could use them for everything. My other characters are just...meh. I'd like to be able to switch my primary profession as well as my secondary (If indeed that is the way the system will still work). This also goes along with armor. I'd like armor in GW2 to not be class-based. I'd like to be able to put all types of male armor on my male character and vice-versa.

#10.) Less-Cluttered HUD
At the moment, guild wars is cluttered with all sorts of different windows. From the Party Window, to Scoreboards, NPCs talking, the Damage Tracker, Chat Window, the Skillbar and the 3 Hero Panels. I'd like for GW2 to make this interface more intuitive in that it takes up less space without all the clutter. That may be a difficult challenge, but a needed one none-the-less.

Lightbulb My take....

I would really like it if Anet put more realistic touches on GW2. These would include more realistic armors. Don't get me wrong, as a heterosexual male I like looking at pretty women wearing skimpy clothes. However, the runaway supermodels wearing strippers' clothes in Guild Wars make me think that the game was made by a bunch of adolescent, hormone-bound males. I would prefer more realistic, protecting armor rather than the strips of cloth that have an armor rating of 80. As soon as I saw this picture(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:G..._box_cover.jpg) of the Guild Wars N.A. presale cover, I started thinking that the women in this game were really getting unrealistic.

Also, a blood/gore toggle would be nice. However, make the wounds actually conform to armor instead of just having a bloody spot on armor that quickly disappears. After spending some time in an Explorable Area, I want my guy to look the part (i.e. scabbing wounds, dirt, torn armor, blast marks, etc.). Wouldn't that be cool?

It would also be neat if the quests in GW2 were more creative and less stock. Most of them are "run out, kill something, get experience for skill points". Speaking of which, make the skill points worth something (i.e. take away the 1 platinum cost for new skills [except maybe Elite skills]).

Also, mounts (like conjured dragons), more epic-looking weapons and armor (along with animations like the Fellblade's clouds), and more epic and unique-looking spells (rather than little raindrops of Fire Storm) would help. When an Elementalist conjures up a Meteor Shower, I'd like to see the land getting ripped apart in an area by huge, firey, intimidating meteors.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

I would love to see an improvement for the Necromancer in Guildwars 2 to have a scythe for a weapon instead of a wand/focus/staff. It would be pretty cool to make the Necromancer an actual Grim Reaper proffession, which this is why it is a good idea.

I would also like some unique pets to charm in Guildwars 2 like a scorpion in the desert along with a lizard, or even have a horse to ride through town/explorable areas.

About the classes.
I dont hope theyre gonna make new classes, the current ones are good. They might even remove dervish and paragon. And only change some things at the current proffesions which could be done in a better way. (eg give the warrior the most armor, like it was in old-skool gw).

The atmosphere.
One thing I love about Guild Wars is the atmosphere, they actually hired a componist to write music for the game. I hate other MMO's like warhammer, wow, aoc, lotro for not adding good music, it feels so dead! If there wont be any kind of music in gw2 I probally wont like it. I just think atmosphere is very important in a MMO.

i agree on the better spell-animation part. Though not clearly on the spells that was mentioned. for example Fire magic has the best spell animation on the elementalist line, but i was pretty disappointed with..lats say: earthquake, mealstrom, deep freeze and the like. Can you see these? pathetic compared to firestorm. I actually use earth becouse shockwave has a so great animation.

Some spells are not suposed to have much visible effect though, like most mesmer spells. In my opinion it would be cool to hear the effects of these skills instead, like at least a moanful cry when hit by specific skills. or actualy the sound of nearly every skill-effect.

Dont take me wrong, the sound is awesome in GW1 already, but mostly for the attackers. casters are quite left aside from that.

Another thing i was thinking about is something like an aura. No ingame effects, just visual and sound amusement. Hydromancers with the frosty fog a little like Grenth's statue, or pyromancers smoking a bit. Shadowy necromancers with particulary threatening shadows visible for players farther away too. Blood necros with an aura that turns everything around blood-red tone. i could go on. it's realy just a matter of imagination, and it would give even more freedom in customization.

While I agree it would be nice addition to the game, I would make such elites only available in PvE environment, as this would have impact in competitive play. And to be honest, if let's say a Me make a spell "Oh hey!", how does player know what this spell does and how to counter it before it's too late?

Cool Player Owned Boats/Ships

In Guild Wars 2 or even Guild Wars it would be cool if players could own and customize their own boats/ships.

If anyone likes my idea and supports it, you're welcome to expand on my idea, and/or give feedback on it.

I know but player owned and customizable boats would probably allow people to have small or big parties depending on how big the boat or ship is and people could invite freinds on their ship/boat for a cruise.

I don't know if this has been suggested yet, but I think it would be cool if you would be able to add your other GW characters to your party as heroes! (and being able to add up to 7 or 11 heroes depending on the mission ofcourse)

This way you can make your own perfect team, great for people who don't want to or can't play with human players. But ofcourse (to encourage playing with others) you should get less drops, just like using henchmen.

1) Zomg that aionline is amazing! Even the kind of eyes and muscle size are changeable (or at least looked as if it is) You have my full support on that one (And man I'd like to have a character with a face full of piercings. A necro of course )

2) and /blowkiss and /getscared and so on. Also full support

3) already have that (mainly in prophecies) but yeah more of those would be nice

4) could be fun yes. If you provoke someone neutral they should be able to get mad at you like: go to innkeeper and use /taunt and he gets his sword out and teach you some manners!

5) Could be a nice feature in pvp to actually get SURPRISED when an assassin is suddenly behind you and such. /signed for that too

6) hair dresser... hmmm I wouldn't mind it but wouldn't use it either

7) more booze! Many foes SHOULD have specie or race specific drops as you say. Not all of course but a lot

8) More storage space is always good but of course there should be limits to how much you can have. So /halfsigned here

9) No the primary profession should be as said primary. However making the secondary professions easier to use could be a way to go.

10) Many games make it so that the HUD used in the situation pops up or you make it pop up manually. For instance you normally can't see your health bar unless you press some button or you are in a battle situation. So that would be nice
