Way better then having to keep typing in people who can't spell out their name properly.
"IliIl Ringo Rulz IllIli" (enter correct text lol!)

Chat with one , ignore rest of entire channel . If you are chatting with a few and dont wanna see X person comment , then ignore. Use your brain and ignore things instead asking for a function to do it lol .

*use the ignore list
*ignore the comments yourself
*whisper the person you're talking to
*invite them to your party and talk in party chat
plenty of options here.

so how come your ignore list doesn't get full? I got like 10 people in there, and cannot add anymore.
also a good Idea to put random Q.Q'ers in the game to rest, without having to add them, and then to ignore the next 15 people trying to QQ. though most of the time I turn local off, and I just read the text above people's heads.

I don't treat the internet like real life?
That being said, ignore function really should be client-side. This way the people that put 30 or more individuals on ignore every day can happily take up their own resources without complaint and Anet's servers might actually get a break.
Also would remove the terrible "xxx has you on ignore" messages.
