New PvP format
Well, I was talking to friends the other day, and came upon this idea. I have heard people ask for 1-v-1 before, or the return of 6man HA, etc. but never heard this idea before.
Free For All PvP
Numbers could be altered, but I would assume 8 would be easiest to implement. No restriction on class, secondary, skills, weapons, etc. outside of PvE skills. The game would randomly select people like it does for RA, but instead of forming teams, you are placed in an arena to fight the other people who entered. Each person would be on his own, and the last one standing is the winner. Tanking may become common for griefing, but you wouldn't be able to kill much with a tanking build, and it would be hard to survive if several people teamed up on you. Healers would struggle as they wouldn't be able to kill, so Monk's would be stuck as Smiters, if used at all.
Would also be possible to 'team' up with people from your guild/alliance, but eventually 1 person would have to be left.
Thoughts? Would number of people make a major effect on this, would specific maps be best for it, would potential exploits be easy/hard to prevent?

Something similar will be one of the new features in GW2 called "World PvP".
But instead of limited numbers, pepole on whole district/server can be fight (up to 300 i read).
If we are talking about GW1 - answer is more than obvious - it's too late and i don't see future in that idea.

I voted maybe. Can't really see how it's gona work. Not to mention it'll be full of griefing builds like E/D tanks.
I just voted maybe for the concept of 8 people running around like retards blowing each other up. Could be funny for 5 minutes.

Maybe not "Last man standing" but Killcount? Kill +2/3 points, death -1 point.
Would discourage tanking builds and suicide builds. However, would be hard to determinate who gets the kill.

This has been suggested before but is a horrible, horrible idea for GW. Firstly unorganised is NOT the way to go, look at FA/JQ/RA, it's a complete joke. Secondly it just doesn't fit in with GW playstyle, it doesn't support solo play. Thirdly as mentioned before and by others, making it 'random' based is just a gateway for noobs and griefers.
A MUCH better idea would be organised AB (12v12,with objectives and teams you can actually pick).

Free-for-alls are not what GW is designed around, so no.

Similar idea to:
http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...highlight=free
/Unsigned for the same reasons as mentioned in the one above. Running rangers, defy pain tanks etc will make this free for all area of pain.

We need to encourage team-play, not chaos and griefing. What makes FA/JQ/RA frustratingly bad is the very little team-play experience the people there have.

& different objectives to facerolling shrines, like capture the flag, king of the hill, relic runs and stuff like that? Basically HA stuff in a 12v12.
Could be fun.

Sounds good but whats to stop a person entering as a monk and using 1 skill to kill low targets and KS'ing everyone.

You are not the first one that thought of this, but this has many issues:
- Some people will just hide until there is one one more left.
- Others would team up in others as you say.
- And there are lots of problems from different farming-style builds.
But I would agree if it was an endless brawling tournament arena with no "Victory".
16 enter, hit each other, and only those that do not manage to stand up again leave. With this:
- Since it has no end, those that run away won't get points, will just waste time. Only those that lose leave. And the fight only ends when no one else joins, but not with a "Victory" and bonus points, but with a "no more challenges found".
- Since everyone would have the brawling builds, there won't be any problems with balancing or faming builds, since the brawling build is a build all about timing and interrupts with much more damage than defense.
- Since everyone is the same, teaming up would just be random, or when friends and allies are lucky and met themselves inside, not because someone is of this or that profession.

No. I foresee teaming up.
What WOULD be nice would be Random HA - like Random Arena and HA combined. Only once syncing actually gets fixed, though. Random GvG would be neat, too.

Free for all solo. I like it.
At no point in GW do you really have a huge engagement. With every campaign i kept looking for one. like when am i going to get to fight an enormous army of char clashing with the ebon vanguard? never happened.
A new format of pvp free for all would be cool. I would just up the limit to at least 16 players.
