Primary Profession Change?
Think that could ever be an idea? Instead of 2nd prof change, where u can buy/do quests, then any time in town, more like the stylist. Could be a great way for A Net to make some more bucks off people being lazy and not wanting to remake a guy. 30 bucks a change, so people dont do it to much. (Doesnt have to be 30, just threw in a price).
I came up with this idea because ive been going for LDoA on my ranger.. 700 hours put in, lvl 17... lately i started suppresing the fact that i dont like rangers much in pve... adter much denial, ive finally come to terms with the fact that id much rather make my main a monk (get LDoA + other titles). Ill remake if i need to BUT if i could buy a primary prof change, i would do this asap.
plz discuss, dont see why not. anet could make some money and i dont see how it could be exploited.

Been discussed a million times before. Always ends in no.
My personal opinion is also no. My characters barely feel unique enough as it is, this would only further that.

I find the problem there is also, certain high end elite areas are easier to get with certain classes, take some of the HM dungeons, or the UWSC, whats to stop you setting a perma assassin up, doing all the Elite areas then changing out to say an Ele, which would have a far harder time in such areas,
Not to mention the time it would take to code, esp when it comes to weapons, armor etc all being changed.
Rangers are handy in certain areas, we always have 1 or 2 with us when we are running The Deep or Urgoz

This would be a coding nightmare such as has been already stated. Armour, weapons, skills would all have to be switched as well. This is why anet gave us multiple slots for various toons to be created and learning areas to test them out to see what you would like to play. Shame you wasted time on a character you have chosen to not like. But make another and start again.

Why? Because of bloody titles. They're really the only reason to be playing anymore, and if you play multiple characters, you're screwing yourself over by wasting time. Anything you achieve on one character is something you could have achieved on your "main" character. This is ok for achievement tracks like protector, guardian, cartographer and such, but it is not ok for the grind tracks (like EotN rep and SS/LB) and the money tracks (like sweet tooth, party animal, and skill hunter).
In other words, if you want to get these titles done, you need to stick to one character. This means you need to stick to that one primary profession. Now, it's true that most people are probably happy with their primary, else they would have made a new character a long time ago and focused on that instead. But, sometimes it's fun to play something else. Maybe you usually play Monk, but sometimes you want to play an MS/DB build. But you can't, not on that character. It's especially bad if you've done the skill hunter tracks and have all these elite skills that you'll never really be able to use.
Would it require additional coding? Obviously. But does that matter? No, it does not. This would be a very good game feature to add.
However, it should not be a pay-to-do-it feature. It should not be a one-time-only feature. There should be a drop-down box added next to the existing profession box, that changes the primary. When you use it, your primary profession changes.
I think the main issue is that this would necessitate reworking the armour system into something more similar to the PvP armour system; in other words you can take runes, mods, insignia, and armour skins to an NPC; doing so unlocks this skin in a PvE equipment menu. This item is deleted in the process. Anything you make from this PvE menu is customized and cannot be traded.
Changing profession causes your current armour to be unequipped. Then you open the PvE equipment menu and make a new set for your appropriate class.
This is also good because people who add a rare skin to their PvE equipment menu are taking it out of the economy, permanently. This helps keep the value of these weapons up by reducing their numbers.

Just make a new toon and do titles on him. If you are tired of rangers, then you should have no problem.

i know it can be annoying doing loads of stuff on a char only to wake up one day and see lfg sf everywhere, however i'd prefer not to ahve the option, yo see some people with elite armor on, however if the proffesion changes were available it would make the world less unique everywhere would have primeval armor wars. also i'd rather have Anet stay as it is rather than being a complete sell out (example: title unlock pack)

only bcuz it would be confusing in pvp to have professions look like other professions.

think of all the crap that anet would have to go through to change your primary profession, you did the quest to get in touch with your primary and how to do it not to mention how each profession primary shapes the story of the campaigns.
having a dervish getting to the end of nightfall to get primeval then changing him to an assassin then having to go through the stuff to make a primeval armor for assassins.
just the setup and not to mention how to determine which skills you get to keep of your old primary...

This would be incredibly hard to implement, and I don't like the general idea anyway.

Exactly the same post a few weeks ago with exactly the same lack of thought as to how to implement this beast, just QQing about something being inconvenient.
FYI, every time ANet implements a new service, it's almost always in LA. What makes you thin it'll be implemented in pre if you can't even change your secondary in there?
As for titles in general, KOABD is implemented like ass, and EotN grind skill titles where a s*** idea in the first place, but its a whole separate problem. There are better ways to fix it than to induce a service than the rigid armor and rune system simply can't handle.

Genuinely, this is not a bad argument. I see where you're coming from and I understand your frustration in "wasting" time with other characters because of title grinds.
Ultimately, though I do not think we should have the option of changing our primary profession. The game is convenient enough, and there are very few of those 'no turning back' moments with your character (primary profession and customizing weapons are literally the only ones I can think of).

Another way would be to be able to use all of our characters as a sort of henchman/hero hybrid.
Log in on that character, set build and equipment. Repeat on all characters. Log in on character I plan on controlling directly. Add characters to party. AI controls them. Rep points, mission completion, etc - all are added to each character in the party as the controlled character obtains them.
That way you can pick, at any time, which profession you'd like to be playing, while still progressing for your title hunter (for GW2).
