1) Would cause massive trouble in PvP unless the clothing was like armor, and class specific. In other words, a Monk can't wear what a Ranger can, etc. Notice the Costumes (clothes) already introduced can't be used in PvP)?
2) We just recently got the Costume slot introduced, as well as 2 costumes. Give Anet time, and they will probably introduce more constumes. Either through in game events, or through the store for purchase.
3) We have already had many topics asking for more armor. This is something most people would support, but it takes a considerable time and resource load for Anet to do. And if they did add more armor, most people I'm aware of want balance in numbers (Rit, Sin, Derv, and Para get more sets).

so either just restrict it from pvp or let pvpers learn to live with it. a mage in dark crystal robe set in lineage 2 may be a sorcerer, a necromancer, a warlock or a bishop (so, nuker/weirdnuker/summoner/healer) and you NEVER know for sure before he uses a skill and you notice it. and pvp is much more open there, where taking down a bishop as first is reaaaally essential (as he can resurrect the whole clan/alliance with one spell, that's getting 30+ people up back to fight with one skill), and people there can live with it.

If you're talking about appearance armor I'd be all for it. In EQ2 we have slots for just appearance and slots for the real armor. And if they made appearance armor for rewards from maybe some new quests that would be great!
And if they "borrowed" some of the templates for appearance clothes from Aion I'd be really happy. Heck even if they were in the store like Station Cash in EQ I'd like that.

We have costumes and multiple sets of armor, I'm not sure what the point of this thread is.

I already wear plenty of clothes on my Monk. It's like a 3D dressup game.
/notsigned, make a caster if you want clothes instead of armour.

i'm not here to defend l2 as a game, especially that it got more and more shitty since early interlude. i'm not fond of the OP's idea either.
but i find 'pvpers won't see what class are you if you have a costume on' argument invalid. l2 is not the only game that has the same looks for different classes and looking at someone's armor is not the only way to know his class here.

you obviously got used to the gw pvp mechanics.
i'm pretty sure i saw that even pvp is boring, it's all the same, there's nothing new, there are no new surprises for old pvpers - that sort of threads. not knowing who you face at the very first glance might be a fresh breeze.
unless, well, gw is all about having everything given out, shown and done the easier way around.

The problem is that PvP in GW is different than in Lineage. They are different games. And the PvP of GW has people using VISUALS for their movement, skill use, and reaction timing. Not knowing what you face certainly would make PvP different. You acknowledge that, but you don't seem to understand that the kind of change it would introduce would not be one that fits with the GW game mechanics. Although a bit different, it would be like a Monk casting Aegis using the Meteor Shower animation. It would cause confusion to the opponent, and the game is about skill, not confusion.
