Everlasting Tonics and The HoM
Dear Guild Wars Players and Fans,
I would like to express and discuss the idea of being able to add everlasting tonics into the Hall of Monuments.
In the minipet section of the Hall of Monuments, it talks about keeping a Hero's pleasures, I say why not everlasting tonics?
As minipets, everlasting tonics have no use in the game. They don't give bonuses, fight, and only a few can be used in explorable areas.
Face it, as do minipets, the only functional use of everlasting tonics are for guild parties and stimulating the economy.(I do not place normal tonics in this catagory because they count towards Life Of The Party.)
Of course if this was implemented, dedicated tonics could be used by other players.
Technically, as far as I know, all tonics with the exception of reindeer and henchmen tonics are available to all people, and I believe if Arenanet feels that tonics are good enough to be contest prizes, that we should be able to keep them in Guild Wars 2.
The 5th year aniversiry is coming up in the next month, and for animators, I don't think it would be that hard to do a 3d everlasting tonic in the HoM.
Please my external guild brothers and sisters, let's here your views.

Sounds like a good idea to me BUT I did not know that tonics were to be a part of GW2. But like you said, why not.

I would much rather be able to customize put my favorite weapon or two in the h.o.m. instead of the ugly tormented weps or even uglier destroyer weps. So if they are going to ask the janitor to slap his mop around on the keyboard to do some valuable programming for them, since they do not have anyone left to do these things therefore the persistent glitches and bad nerfs, then I would much rather him try to get my favorite weps into the h.o.m. than stupid tonics.

Besides more e-peen than there already is, it wouldn't matter to me if they do it or not.

HoM is not for stuff with aquisition method based on luck. That's why we cant add every single weapon to HoM: because lets say for a dryad bow or voltaic spear you have no guarantee that you will get one when you open the endchest...you just might get one...same for tonics: you just might get one fron Zhcest.

Yes, I know there are minies that are just lucky drops, but the diffrence is that you can only get everlatsting tonics from Zchest or contests, while minies you can get by doing a simple quest(Black moa chick) or just by simply not deleting characters.

It appears to me that there is an assumption that HoM would transfer minis verbatim from GW1 to GW2, so why not tonics as well. I find this assumption rather unlikely and a much more probable alternative would be that you get the same, unrelated, reward regardless of what you put in, as long as the monument is full. Since you can fill the monument with dirt cheap white birthday minis I can't see any harm in the ability to throw in an EL tonic as well, of course with the understanding that you won't get the same bottle back in GW2 (the main reason being that it would dump a huge amount of wealth in the new game from the get-go, creating irreparable inequality).

Eh, undecided myself. Originally I thought it sounded good, as I thought the wording on the HoM descriptions was more generic and may have referred to 'gifts' or 'treasures'. However, looking over it, I see nothing in the Monument of Devotion that would lead you to think of anything but miniatures. And since the display already gets crowded with 20 miniatures, and a bottle of a tonic wouldn't be anything exciting, I don't see much point in adding it. As noted, we do not know what we will get in GW2 for out HoM achievements yet, so expecting a tonic, mini, weapon, etc. is silly at this point.
If they add it, I won't care. If they don't, I won't care.

Yes; and the people that got to keep the duped armbraces didn't kill the wealthy end of GW1 either right? wrong. There is irreparable inequality already-just something that we have to deal with; if you got it, you have it - if you don't, you're screwed unless you get something else.

Yes, and while it's too late to do anything in GW1 ANet would be crazy to let it seep through the HoM to a new game as well. Hence you cannot expect to dump a MPB to your monument in GW1 and claim it back in GW2.

Maybe just add the really rare ones i.e. Transmogrifier, Elf, Bettle, Sinister and such. I so would love to use my Transmogrifier in GW 2 =D

Oh no way are they avialable to all players! not ever player can afford a EL tonic. so unless you're allowed to add normal tonics this is a stupid idea. actually its another epeen idea! if you want to show off your everlasting tonic so badly parade it around town.

el tonics are avaiable to all players; theyre in the same price range as armbraces or some minis, which also go in the hom. secondly, gw is a game that revolves around epeen.

You get mini's without having to spend any gold; they're free in most cases and therefore you're more likely to use up the space in the HoM. For people who don't spend their gold/don't have the gold to spend on tonics that space will be left completely blank. A waste of the programmers time, and more importantly, a waste of time that could be spent balancing the games PvP.

i'm not missing the point. i know gw=epeen. but the part about ANYONE can get a el tonic is wrong. 1) not everyone can afford ectos 2) not everyone can go to elite areas for some reason. so tell me how a casual player can afford a el tonic let alone the 20e+ minis or a armbrace? hmmm? didnt think so. i've friends who played for over a year and she cant afford el tonics and i bet a lot of gw players cant either.
