Sorry, but this suggestion would do waaaay more harm than good if implemented. Yes, I agree the "old glory" days of Prophecies are gone and will never return, which is a shame as most will have fond memories of it.
But to remove something that aids individuals to do something in game outside of normal guild/alliance activities would just be a case of "last one in turn out the lights please". It would kill what is left. As others have mentioned, lets do this to Factions too since it never had heroes either.
If you REALLY want to relive the days, try this - take only hench, dont use flags and walk in with a Prophecies only skill bar (PvE skills banned too). No consumables either. And make it even more "realistic" by adding Mending if you are a Warrior, Heal Other/Area if you are a Monk.....
That will suffice in going back in time. Otherwise, let heroes be!

You forgot Ogden's inability to heal parties members. I hate that freakin' hero...

OP - If you want the glory days of Prophecies, don't use heroes there. (And have fun with that, because the "glory days" of Prophecies were garbage.) You do your thing, we'll do ours. Your desire to exert control over the play activities of everyone else is unnecessary and unwanted. /anti-signed.
Missing HB - You are making a common mistake in assuming that heroes caused the lack of pugging (and that therefore) the banning of heroes will magically create a pool of players with whom you can pug. This simply isn't so. Heroes were created as a stopgap solution to the inevitable depopulation of the game as it ages. Removing heroes will not give you the pugs you seek. I do understand your small-guild woes. But if you're not willing to trade your small-guild for a big one (I wouldn't trade my dear friends for a chance to do more content either) then you'll simply have to find something else in the game that keeps you here -- or move on.

Totally agree, if ya want to play without heros then the choice is there for you to do so, if ya want The Old glory then play old skool.

Henchies and PUGing are just fine for proph. Back in the day when heroes didn't exist, nobody complained about it.

Well you see that was back in the day people actually played and were good at making builds, now the current player base uses wiki builds and doesn't know how to play. They need runs for everything not just from town to town.

Hard. Mode.
Also: there were people around "back in the day", so you didn't have to do everything by yourself. The days of people grouping up to do random missions are not coming back, period, even if you kill heroes.
QQ thread reaaaaally needs to die now.

If you want to play with humans, join a guild where people think same way and form groups. That is the best noob filter you are going to get. It is not perfect but a lot better than random groups.
Actually I'm happy that Anet decided to give singe player option for PVE. Instead lowering the difficulty of the game to kindergarten level (like WoW does), player can control the whole group enough to face the challenges.
I miss the days when people played games for fun. Now you have to earn visible trophies and brag about them to be motivated for something. Guild Wars had "trophies" in early ages which were called as creative skill builds. Discovering something useful and new was a nice feeling. Another reward was wide confusion on PvP areas where new skill builds were "overpowered" because most players couldn't change their playing strategy quickly.
This game requires more thinking than most of the online games. That is why community is bad and that is why account number is so low. Retard kids which didn't got money for game card from their mom, will play Guild Wars, those who got, will play World Of Warcraft or something else.
