So, what. We didn't need Assassins, Dervishes, Ritualists and Paragons in Prophecies either. Make it that they're not allowed over! Have one of those secondaries? Nope! Even if you're Tyrian: GTFO!
Seriously, what a crappy idea.

No. Henchmen,as a rule, suck compared to heroes. Besides,it's far too late to implement this.

You serious about fixing PvE?
Don't bother. There aren't any easy solutions. The only way to fix PvE is to remake the game.
For that reason, /notsigned.

Im sorry, but thats got to be THE most pathetic and selfish reasoning I have ever seen here in the past few years. I bet yo would also Sue AMD, Intel, NVidia and ATI for making better and faster computer components and so "Downgrading" yours. Or maybe you are unhappy because modern cars are faster and use less Fuel than yours and so your car was "downgraded".
To recap on your own arguments... Anet bought out newer and better games, so you think that the game you have has been downgraded? That is completely incorrect. Downgrading would mean that the game you have became worse... this is not true. Prophs is still exactly the same as it was earlier (Minus the new content [Shining Blade vs. White Mantle] that was added in the last few days... which would be actually be an upgrade if you want to take it as that)... its just you that decided not to buy the newer games which makes you imagine yours got worse.
/deffinitely not signed Id say.

Whenever someone starts babbling on about rights when that has nothing to do with the actual argument he or she basically lost. As if the simple fact that no one can stop you from thinking whatever you want protects you from being wrong. If that were the case then no one would ever be wrong about anything. All it does is prove you have nothing left to defend your opinion so instead of changing your mind to what is the more logical and well supported argument for some reason you choose to believe something that everyone as well as yourself knows is false.
The argument is whether removing heroes from prophecies is a good idea. Considering the overwhelming negative response and your acknowledgment that was going to be overwhelmingly negative it's safe to say it's a terrible idea.
The real reason I even responded was to use a concept I read in a book about logic. So on a scale from 1 to 10 how logical was that %*@&?

I hate to say it, but we all know it. The game is dying (or dead) by comparison to it's glory days. With the announcement of GW2 and just the fact the game has been going on for so long, there aren't enough people to provide an alternative to Heroes, of course you can Hench some of it but it's such a chore to find other players in Prophecies that you would most likely have to rely on a party pretty much made-up of Henchmen. No, without heroes I would most likely give up, I can't face going thorugh everything in Prophecies and/or Factions with henchmen.
Guild Wars 1 is best left as it is, keep the changes for the next installment.
@ Robmdq- I'm sorry that you feel that you have been cheated out of your Guild Wars experience due to the extra campaigns, but seriously I think you are overreacting to something very trivial, without heroes the game would, at this point, suck (pardon the childish word). I do get what you mean when, I have to admit that I don't like exploiting Hero builds such as Discordway, but I do it because everyone exploits builds, and I don't want to have to work harder than them just becuase I'm too proud to do it. Unfortuntely, I don't see eye-to-eye with you about your "consumer rights" ravings. The new campaigns and introduction have not made it impossible for you to play the game, but have made it easier for people to play by themselves should they choose to "upgrade".
However, I do agree that Heroes are exploited, and hope to god (despite being atheist), that GW2 leaves NPC allies/party members as cruddy as possible compared to human players in EVERY aspect.
All in all, I wouldn't worry about it, you can get GW2 fairly soon if it suits you, and if you feel that you wasted your money, hell it's only £30 tops (or $50 or 40 Euros or whatever it was when it came out). If you don't like, I advise you stop playing the game if you haven't already and wait for something else to come your way. Nothing's gonna change now.

this.. and for the rest of us that bought the other game for use of heroes in such areas would be getting cheated out of what we paid for as well so thats a pretty flimsy excuse IMO.

There are some ideas you should just keep to yourself, I mean seriously.
Proph henchies are the worst thing you can add to a party, not to mention the most retarded.

The negative impact of this suggestion being implemented would be huge. More players quitting, even less people in Proph areas (its been pretty empty for over a year) and not to mention making VQing even harder because its nearly impossible to form a full group to VQ without using henchies/heros.

I said that after they took my HB away...i paid for the HB arena and it was the main thing that made me buy GW. Fact is, this game changes and we as players either deal with it or quit...only reason i joined this forum was to protest hb being removed..now i troll all i can.

What's amusing to me is I didn't buy this for the hero aspect. I bought it because a couple of my friends told me about it and how they thought I'd enjoy playing Guild wars with them. I actually spent most of the first campaign with no hero's since other than M.O.X. I didn't really understand what they were or how you got more of them.
And when a fellow guild member explained that to me, I had practically nothing to put on their skill bars anyway so they weren't any better than the henchies. They were probably worse at first. XD
I wouldn't be amused if they got rid of them, but I wouldn't be put off from playing if they did. And I still find the argument that 'this is what I paid for so they should change it back' amusing since my point is, based on that logic, equally as valid. lol
Also, I agree, things change and it's best to just deal with it.

If you want a challenge, play through prophecies without heros, using henchmen.....
just do it. I know you can
Others would rather use heros, just dont team up with them, find likeminded people, and play the game the way you want.
Removing heros from prophecies is a very very bad idea.

You could give heroes the same skill bar as henchies. Would't that be a hoot?
Just on a side note, if you were Anet would you losten to the guy who bought one campaign, oe the one who bought them all?

Does anyone remember doing the Shiverspeaks and Fire Islands with just 7 henchies (and without the flags) swarming around you? Now connect that memory with Hard Mode.

Have to chime in with the hate. Sorry, but that is possibly the worst idea I've heard in ages. Prophesies is almost completely dead every time I actually go there save LA, ToA, and the Zmission of the day if it's in Prophesies. I don't even do the ZM's if they're prophesies unless a guild member specifically requests it. I personally avoid Prophesies because it IS the plague. The only reason anyone seems to go there that I know is vanquishing, legendary cartographer, and legendary guardian. Woops, we all finished guardian thanks to the zmissions. Cross that off!
No. If my heroes stupidly got turned off as soon as I appeared in Prophesies I would most definitely never play anything else in prophesies. All I have left there for myself is vanquishing, and you can't do that with just henchmen. Particularly not the Prophesies henchmen, which have the worst skill setups in the game.
I can reasonably expect (from the 2 and some pages of replies before this and the hundreds of GWAMMs out there) that most other people would very much have the same negative response to something so stupid.
I will give that if you're into role play it makes sense to not bring heroes along for the missions when you are roleplaying the completion of the missions. Cartographer and Vanquisher? Even if you're role playing with people while doing them, your timeline for them could just as much be after all the campaigns so you have the heroes as it can be immediately after just the Prophesies campaign where you don't. Still. Role playing is optional, and largely not opted for.

Well , thing is , where do you find people then to do , for example , divinity coast mission , or vanquish snake dance ?
Anyway , as i already told it , even if whole gw community agree on a suggestion , they won't implement it ( check number of updates for 2 years + how good they were )

Press G, and look there. Ask people in your guild, alliance, and friends list. PUGnig gets no sympathy, because this game is not designed to be done randomly. Random grouping is certain possible for some things, but looking at the name of the game, they certainly intended for people to join together for various activities.

That's all the problem : more and more ppl leave the game for some obvious reasons .
You already had told me that answer for pvp, but in pvp , if pressing G could solve all problems , we would see 10 full dis in HA , GvG at every hour ; in fact , you can go ( or simply press B ) and you will see how dead those are. So , this statement doesn't work for PvP , but anyway , we are here to talk about pve .
The main problem in pve , again , is that upon many guilds i joined ( quite active ones ) , most people only go play Uw/Fow 24/7 .Some people already did those areas , and don't want to do those again , since it's bit annoying .
Aswell , all people don't have the same playtimes , etc... . Let's take an easy example : i have 45mn ( which is enough for 1 average area vanquish with heroes ) . Do you seriously think , if no henchs , it will be even possible to do half the area in that time, after asking everyone , waiting , etc.. since you would need 6-8 people ?
Maybe your guild is very active and you got a lot of time , and that is why you suggest that, which is obviously true , but you need consider some people aren't in that case .
