Interface: Necro minion selection
Probably all necros are familiar with this problem. In the middle of the fray you have very difficult time selecting your minions. Especially when they are not visible via Alt (nor Ctrl).
The new icon that shows your number of minions is usefull (especially in the big battles when you cannot see them.
So, my sugestion is that when you click the icon to select one of the minions, click again select the next and so on. This will allow very swift use of skills like death nova, taste of death, even other non necro skills (for some builds).

*thumbs up*
Good idea, I hope they will change it so we see minions under the party list as "Allies"

I think the OP's suggestion is very elegant. Would you mind if I link this thread in the Index? The suggestion for better minion selection is already there, but it doesn't have a thread for discussion.

Hope the mods are happy, I actually dug up this thread before trying to make one of my own.
I'd like to see a seperate interface pannel with a list of your minions, and you would be able to select them from there. I suppose this could also pertain to spirits as well. The big problem is where would they put it (by default)? I've fully customized my interface and have numberous places where I can set something like that though.

Yes, this would be the simplest and least cumbersome solution, I would like to see some sort of interface that allows us to select our minions faster.
I don't like the idea of having a window with all our minions in it, with 8 people in your party the window is basicly full, add any Mission allies and it is full, and that doesn't account for any members who may have brought pets, 2 or 4 of those can easily scroll the longest party menus. Having a your minions show up in the party menu would be crazy, and even in your own personal menu, you would not be able to see all of them unless you scrolled down, and in a seperate menu it would take up too much room.
A very small streamlined menu which had very small Minion icons or tiny health bars might not be bad, but the OP suggestion is plenty.

I'm definetly for some sort of interface for minion selection. Even if it's being able to macro a key on the keyboard under your "Control Setup" in options. Then there'd be the question of....
1. Should you just be able to select/cycle thru your own minions?
2. Should you just be able to select/cycle thru all your parties minions?
3. Would a macroable key thru control setup work better, or just being able to click on the minion icon (left-click for previous minion, right click for next)
4. If go the "click on minion icon" route, should each "set" of minions have it's own "minion icon" to cycle thru? (to be able to death nova more effectively certain minions rather than cycling thru 9 to get to the one you want before it croaks).
4.5 Or stay with the seperate minion icons, and as well give each seperate minion it's own visible lifebar/percentage # over the icons?
5. Somewhat change the customize layout feature so you can check on/off a "minion party window" on the left side?
This of course could be taken outside of just "necros" and done for sprits, timers or traps and when they get triggered, and probably more that I'm not even thinking about yet...
But I'd think that anet wouldn't mind doing something along these lines, especially since they reduced the number of total minions per person to 10 and even put a "total number" on the icon. So it is possible to keep track of them, and I wouldn't think it'd be so difficult to at least make a party window for temporary things like minions, spirits, traps, ect.

This would help me a great deal
I also like belegs idea for it ^^
I would like it if it told you what type of minion you're selecting too, or maybe even show their health? This way you can find your Fleshy in Alliance Battles.

Yes it'd be nice to actually "see" how the minions are doing rather than spamming BotM hoping they're staying alive while not killing yourself. Yes I know there are ways "around" that... but just in health/energy management it'd make managing minions and your energy more efficient.. and perhaps even be able to break away from static MM builds if you can manage things better.

How about also changing that damn "# Minions" at the top to something more usefull like 1 box for each type of minion you have? I mean I don't know about you but in big battles it would be nice to know just how many bone horrors or fiends or my only Flesh Golem I have since you need a good balance of ranged and melee minions with you to be more effective. And yes the total of all the boxes would still add up to ten and since I am sure most of us players have passed grade 2 the adding up to see if you have 10 minions should not take too long!
