I'm not seeing any sort of "bring hb back" momentum on guru or in-game. As such, I can't take this quote seriously.

"I'm sure" is not reason enough to bring back a flawed arena, especially when it's quite obvious that Anet doesn't invest time in the "lower" pvp areas.

Of course people want it back, it was one of the fastest cash-making farms available to the average Joe who unlocked HB.
Flawed survey is flawed.

flag and cap - free 4v4 hero combat in RA / TA arenas would be far better than either HB or TA.

That's typically the answer of someone who never played HB a lot , like people who are saying : " No it's not coming back they said it " , or " RR yes i want it " .
Those facts happened only at very low rank , thus if you at least played it a bit , you wouldn't have seen any opponent asking to roll or to RR. For players who did HB a lot , it was very competitive due to At/MaT . So it would be nice if people who got no idea what HB was ( and who got no idea how codex is atm ) argued less. If pvpers were asked about that dervish update coming , they would all answer : are they serious ?
Anyway , Elnino said a very good idea , making the poll choose between HB and TA , or CA. I wouldn't see any problem doing it , so people could judge by themselves which upon those is the best , and if not done , it would be nice to get an answer about Codex , the reasons its kept , and if something will finally be done there.

Monthly HB finals are 1vs1, that should be enough for anyone to understand why finals were thrown.
And for the record there were only 2 finals that were thrown like that, trust me, I know what I'm talking about, I'm like one of the few people who's posting on this thread that actually played HB seriously.

What can be done to solve the issues, and they were all really good. The ideas that came from the HB community (the true community, not the RR abusers) would have definitely improved HB. Anet thought they were band-aids, but they weren't. The topics on the sub-forum changed from "how to help HB" to "how to exploit it" only AFTER Anet announced HB's removal. And even then, there was a brilliant thread by Massacre that would have saved HB, but I'm sure none of you guys read it.
How about a poll where people choose between HB AND TA or CA. HB and TA can't be chosen separately since they both met the same fate. I think it's obvious which option would win.
All your feelings for HB are YOUR opinion, not everyone's. Understand the fact that many other people enjoyed HB for what it was.
OH, and just to point out (again):RED RESIGN ONLY STARTED AFTER ANET SAID HB WOULD BE REMOVED

This.
Believe me or not, I had fun in HB along with alot of other players, and if that isn't enough to make a format worth it, I don't know what is.

Of everyone on this forum, Sauron is probably the most knowledgeable when it comes to Hero Battles. After all, he is one of the greatest Hero Battlers and, I think , he was also one of the people making good suggestions on how to fix Hero Battles.

So yeah just remove zquest and HB will work and be fun again. But really just make a poll see what community thinks... that choice between TA, CA and HB would work too... because CA is obviously complete fail. Seriously adding back Hero Battles would make so many ppl happy and more satisfied with Anet not doing useless dervish update... even after the update noone will use dervish in HA/GvG and not even in uwsc and doasc.

Red resigns were only a matter of HB. iirc the reasons for the removal of TA were lack of players/dead hours and difficulty to balance skills.

When 90% of the players in the monthly tournament were named "fix crossing plz" or some variant, you know the system is broken.

/not signed because there is not point in adding a poll about something that is not going to happen. Hero Battles is dead, done, over, kaput, ended, no nore, pushing up daisies, "gone the way of the dodo," has bit the dust. Let it go.

Red Resign started when they removed the /roll command from PvP areas. They removed the /roll command because that was how too many people (especially Z-Battle day visitors) were deciding the outcome with /roll. I'm pretty sure that /roll was removed before they announced the end of HBs.

If they bring HB back, they'll also be bringing back /roll 100, red-resigns, shadow-stepping abusages, etc.. There's nothing fun about that. People did it to build their Commander titles and flaunt it.

/roll was removed from PvP 5 days after the 4th anniversary update i.e. 5 days after the zquest was introduced. The HB zquest was probably only available on one of those 5 days (even then its not 100% certain since there were more than 5 pvp formats). So /roll was a problem before the zquests were introduced. People were not abusing /roll for the zquest.
The concept of Red Resign was around for a while but it only became a problem after the announcement of HB's removal (in August 2009).
As far as I know, Red resign was done by very few people (usually groups of friends) after /roll was nerfed and it never became a public thing until after Linsey announced HB's removal. I remember the thread was started by Ares. He was trying to gather a group of people to do it with him to help him get max commander. Soon, it became a huge thing that thousands of people did.

This
And if Anet does decide to focus on Anet, I would rather them focus on fixing codex rather than adding back HB.
Is there really a point to this thread though? Anet said that HB isn't coming back, so what is the point of asking for a poll related to HB?

I wasn't sure how long after the Z-things were added that they removed the /roll form PvP areas, but I was 100% correct in saying that RR came up right after it was removed. Here's proof: http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/g...ght=Red+Resign (find the humor in post #6 on your way down to post #15 in that thread)
P.S. Rock/Paper/Scissors never caught on.

And most of the people who don't want HB back are the ones who don't give a crap about it, they probably tried to play the format and since they failed to be successful they hate it.
There are ways to fix HB from being abused, EASY ways.

Players had names like these because they were trying to get attention from anet, they wanted HB fixed, but instead of fixing it, anet removed the format, it's like giving HBers a big middle finger.

I've played HB since the format was implemented and I can tell you that Red Resign only started to be popular when they announced that the format was being removed, and I'm sure that if anet announced that HA or GvG were being removed then people would abuse it too to try to farm the last points for their title.

All of you people saying "Red Resign" never played HB that long and obviously dont get it. Red resign was only a real problem after Zquest shit was added to the game. It allowed noobs to come and farm the crap.
Abuse is rampant in every form of pvp atm and HA is dumb. I agree with others that HB was a place to go for a fast match that didn't require 20 mins to form a team. I also agree that HB showed more individual skill than any other arena. Removing it was a bad idea and removing TA was a bad idea. Four years old and they remove arenas that were staples in GW and replace them with cannon fodder that sucks.
I think anet should make a one time voting poll for players to use when they log in.

It was competitive in the fact people were fighting to get to the finals in AT and MAT....what the winners do is their choice. IDC what they did, they earned the right to be there and do what they want.
HERE MY VOICE AND OTHER"S VOICES

Also, before anet makes any other changes like that again. Let the community vote on it with a poll.....Why should we eat crap and have no say n the matter? And people talking about pve stuff need not post here with hate like Mia.
