I went in and killed Rotscale for the Z-Bounty using "The Tarnished Emblem" quest as Keiran Thackeray but did not receive the reward for the Z-Bounty. This seems like a bug to me and if it is not, there should be a disclaimer added to the Z-Bounty to let players know that this can't be done by this method. Thanks.

So what you are saying is that wiki does not tell ya that the HoTN quest which gives you a soloable toon to do the bounty is bugged wiki alreadys says you can't use that quest to do the bounty heres the proof:http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Rotscale_(Zaishen_quest)

PS i always check wiki for the Z stuff just incase

I was afraid this would happen. I was hoping it would let us use Keiran, but in the back of my mind I knew it wouldn't from a lore perspective.
The player is not Keiran...if Keiran kills Rotscale, why would the player get rewarded?

my point is that it should say in-game that this is the case. a player shouldn't have to rely on wiki to gather info about whether it works or not. the quest bounty text should have this included in it. ty for the info though. it frustrates me from time to time that players have to use the wiki as a crutch when the game should provide a note about it. EDIT**Snoopy, I said nothing about the wiki in my OP. I said that the game should provide the info.

The thing is why in the world of GW would they allow an easy Z bounty there ment to be a team thing. Why would they say in the txt for the bounty oh by the way ur not allowed to use the solo quest and if i'm not mistaken many players use wiki. As a simple method to get the Z stuff done, ie wot skills to bring i have done rotty many times all with the help of wiki i know you have not mention wiki in ur post. But i was pointing out a simple thing Anet or who ever would not just make a new patch for the bounty cos kierans able to solo the thing and then say btw dnt think we are letting u solo this would they think about it for now do they have the time do do a stupid thing like this to mention it in the txt Short answer is NO. And sorry if I sound rude in my replys I just hate it when people think they are a 1 man killing mechine.

You do realize that the information put up on the wiki is by the players figuring this stuff out. Anet isn't saying go to the wiki were we will hand feed you how to complete our game. If you choose to use the wiki to save yourself time from trying things on your one, or finding locations on your own, that's up to you. You don't NEED to use the wiki, it's just a location were players have compiled all the information learned about the game.

Just go out and try things yourself if you don't want to use the wiki, no one is forcing you. If killing rotscale in the solo quest didn't work, then go kill him normally. You tried one way hoping for quick success, now do it the proper way.

I think it should be pretty obvious that it wouldnt work this way, sure i could see why someone would try it just to see if it did work but you shouldnt expect it to work. Its a solo mission/quest, why should it work when u are playing as a different person?

Because when I play Keiran's quest, my main character somehow ends up with the loot that dropped during his adventure

I actually agree with you that Keiran should not count for ZB. I just also kind of also always wondered why my character gets the loot for his adventure. Did he offer it all to me when he came back? If so, why? Is he keeping a secret nest egg so that Gwen can't see? It makes no sense!

because i get rotscale's bow when i kill him as thackeray and my character gets a reward for beating that gwen/thackeray lovefest quest as thackeray too. and it's repeatable. i am not asking for some crazy thing here. i am asking for a simple note at the bottom of the z-quest that says "...not completable as Thackeray." Why am I getting rude responses from this?

Im not meaning to be rude, im simply saying, its a solo quest and it takes you into an area far away from where "you" are. I just dont feel its necessary to write this because i wouldnt expect that a lot of people would try this and feel offended when they dont get the reward. It takes maybe 5 minutes to do it with thackery so if you dont get the reward its not a big deal.

Its just not meant to be done through other quests

Not a bug, pretty obvious why. Its probably along the same lines how anet doesnt put notes that certain bosses dont spawn when a quest is active. You'll quickly learn what it is that that made the boss spawn or not spawn, and then either avoid it or abuse it.

Actually you dont get Rotscales bow if you kill him. Have you looked at it before picking up the bow (or any other loot for that matter)? Everything is asssigned under Thackerays name.

If you take that fact, then its pretty obvious that this is not a bug and that if you are playing Thackeray, then for the game you are Thackeray at that moment...GW has no code saying that Leutenant Thackeray took the Zquest, so you dont get the reward.

EDIT; Just go 600/Smite Rotscales behind in HM. I did it with my Necro as 600 Tank and 1000-1600 Damage every 10 seconds plus whatever the smiter deals with Retribution and Holy Wrath is pretty neat... in the end its even faster than with Thackeray in NM.

Glad you brought this up because I was actually going to do the same thing next time Rotscale come up. But it is true, why would you get a reward when thackeray is the one killing it not our char. Saved me a wasted journy so ty.
