I'm willing to bet a third-party chapter background mod wouldn't be too difficult to pull off. We have texture/model tweaks, replacements and mapping mods already.
There may be difficulties in how the engine handles them however, I know Eye of the North is the only one which my old system's 9250 card displays all broken up and with clearly visible lines, so it's possible they changed how it applies the textures. As a result Proph/Factions/NF backgrounds for the main screen may display broken, or not have the textures wrap properly.
What we need is for someone to try ripping the resouces for one campaign's main screen and overwrite the EOTN one with it.

What I know for sure is that the Eye of the North login skin may use a much more postprocssing and shaders if you activate the options.

The eotn music ist just totally !##@! The prop music was so beautiful

And also walking in eotn is harder for a machine than walking in prophecies, on my old rig i got 30fps in prop's and 13fps in eotn, but now i get 60fps everywhere

just sugested this on a thread about remembering the old screen, id like to be able to switch the screens and also the music, i sure want the old guild wars theme back those remakes suck.

I think this is a very good idea and must be seriously considered. It is a non-essential kind of update to the login background but it'll b ea great reminder for those who have been playing the game for a long time and have seen the different login backgrounds and miss them. Also for new players who simply want a change. Definitely a must-do for Anet, if not out of respect for those who have been playing Guild Wars since the beginning then simply for aesthetic value.

But it might never happens, as someone said (i don't remember who) each time Anet was changing a log-in screen, they needed to modify a code (or kinda )which cant be inverted after...

1) Intro
Hello Guru's. I've been playing GW for 2 years now. I’m an elite guru member going on a year and half. I will continue to do both as long as the game is around and people to enjoy it with. I don't post much but only when I need or feel it. so here it goes.

2) Purposes
Like most of you I want some change. Some call it balance. I could go on about AN AUCTION HOUSE! Adding Heroes/Henchmen to a lost or disconnect human player. ETC... Let’s just focus on this one ideal.

2A) I know Anet and NCsoft have to make money. Welcome to the real world. They have to promote there latest product. Most us love our 95 Honda civic (or other car) if you don't have one or care oh well keep reading. So I don't blame them for keeping the Login screen to the newest, freshest, and coolest screen. It's advertising space
2B) I could be wrong. Maybe all the dev's and people are working on GW2 and will come back to GW1 when they have time. Maybe, like the auction house, all the codes there but just not turned ON. Maybe GW2 login screen will run GW1?
2C) So far 78 have signed this thread where 4 disagree. 8 Have liked the ideal but not signed off. 11 have commenting on tech issue, GG statements or a just a comment in general.
2D) My eyes are sick of Eye of the north. I love the Factions music and screen.

So before this comment get's flamed or trolled and buried i want to say thanks for looking and reading. If you dislike or hate my ideal... oh well... But i'm sure in the Big picture this doesn't matter. I think most online games hardly change their login screens. But I wanted to put some time and effort and suggest some ideals for my favorite game. I pray somehow the dev teams or on the GW wiki they get linked to this ideal and reads and we get some feedback or comments.

"You know it can be done". No, no it can't. It is about the added functionalities that have been added to the login screen (in game store link, ability to sort characters, ability to display more then 4/6/8/8+ character slots) which had not exited on previous versions.

Yup, they would have to take the latest screen, the older models, music, skins and effects, and mix them to make completely new screens.

But even if we can't choose, it would be GREAT if they changed the screen each season:

- Prophecies-like for Outumn
- Factions-like for Spring.
- Nightfall-like for Summer.
- Current Eye of the North for Winter.

That way there's no need to add a a way to choose, the change is mad for everyone (the only way possible right now), but we get actual changes once in a while.
Being cyclical it could be also automated like Zaishen tonics.

I never saw the Prophecies and Factions screens in use. (only in screen capture movie) I liked the Factions one. I know ANet already said they could not easily add this feature but on the other hand: the content is still there (assuming they DO make backups

) so only the selection system should be programmed. Knowing the skills of the dev team this should not be an impossible task. (Understatement)

I started playing GW when the login screen changed to Factions (the first screenshot I took showed the logo for the Factions preview event), so I missed the campsite screen. I would love to be able to choose the Factions login screen, for the sea view, the whale, the lightning striking over the volcanoes, and the music was beautiful. If the current game engine doesn't allow for the old screens to be shown then that's a shame.

A question of naivety......has anyone tried using texmod to replace the current login screen with captures of the previous login screen backgrounds?
