Hands down this is the greatest idea I've ever heard.
Yeah flags are nice, but when you have to stop what you're doing to place down a flag it kinda breaks the "flow" of battle. Something a little more substantial would be greatly appreciated.
So this gets a big fat:

I like the idea of having some type of spread control. Not sure on how they want to implement it, but overall would be nice.

In fact I've suggested this at the NF beta. Formations.
Even just one "Spread the F** Out!" button (click again to return to standard formation) would be awesome.
Heroes are dumb and can't see incoming huge AoE damage, they only spread after taking a significant hit, but in HM it's often too late.

/Signed for the love of all that is good and holy! We need group stances
EDIT: I propose the idea of simple buttons that change how your group stands before aggro. Like you know how they allways stand around you like so;
o=hero/hench x=you
--o--x--o--o
--o--o--o--o
Perhaps we could have different settings...
---o------x----
o------o------o
----------------
o------o------o
Anyway, you get where I'm going with this.

I'm going to bump this again for you corpula, since I was at work the other day reading this and couldn't post. I have been playing over two years and this is the best idea I have seen yet.

and to both ideas - i like the idea of a slider for formation tightness - would help amazing in a lot of areas.
i'm also very keen on the idea of a called target being a locked target, even if i move or stop attacking.
both very good suggestions by the OP. now to see if they get implemented...

I thought of an 'interactive' way to set this. For every single way:
http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...php?t=10157317
Basically, it would allow player to set the flag at the same time that you set the are in which the NPCs linked to the area would be.
Click, do not drag, works like current flags.
Click, drag, a circle with its center where you clicked appear, keep draggin to increase radius, release button, area set.
That would be a bit faster and dinamic.

Very nice. I missed this one the first two times it came around.
Thinking about this a little, wouldn't it be nice if there was an 8x8 grid that you could place yourself and your heroes on to create customized formations? Set up a few saved versions to adjust to various situations and you're golden.
Also, I commend this thread for being completely troll-free. That says something to me about how good an idea the OP is.
