Soldier, Adventurer, and Scholar Armor Rewards in WoC
So for "Winds of Change", the new content update, I suggest that we get armor rewards that reflect how armor is going to work in GW2. In GW2 armor isn't profession based, but type based. Soldier classes would be Paragon and Warrior. Adventurer classes would be Ranger, Dervish and Assassin. Scholar classes would be Ritualist, Elementalist, Necromancer, Monk, and Mesmer. There would be 1 or 2 sets of armor for each of these divisions. Just like how it is going to work in GW2. That way, we as players can still get new armor, and the Live Team gets a condensed way to make us armor without having to make 1 set for each individual profession and sex. It would also be a nice tie-in to show players how this new armor system is going to work in GW2. Heck, I would be happy if they just did it like the costumes and we got 1 or 2 sets that everyone could wear.

And how would this work with regards to the individual professions having a unique body shape? A Paragon dons this 'new' armor and suddenly has the physique of a burly warrior?
Costumes have failed terribly in this regard.
I don't think you thought this through.

On paper this sounds like a good idea.
But, Like Nerel Pointed out, Not all professions have the same body shape. I'm sure Anet could easily tweek the sets to make it fit each profession better though.
I like the idea, but I'm afraid of the end result in this situation...

I don't dislike the idea of a costume that looks different depending on profession.
But I don't see why should it be for free, since costumes are a way to pay for the Beyond updates.

Paragons morph into Guardians. Check it out.
I like the idea. If it's feasible, I'd love to see it.

Well, there still are the costumes that people buy. Heck, even if they did this and released costumes, the costumes would still be purchased. We got weapons in WiK and this would be a great way to add armor, not have it be time consuming in the vein of different armor for every profession and it would tie-in nicely to a GW2 theme. This is just a way to give players more meaningful garb that is earned through playing again. It would be great to get something cool like this and be able to put runes etc. on it. They have pumped out quite a few costumes already in just over a year, so this couldn't be crazy out of the question.

why not? your ele, necro, and mesmer in GW2 will all wear scholar armor that will look exactly the same. this would be perfect for bridging how things will be in gw2. and furthermore, the armor wouldn't look like necro, mesmer, monk, or rit aromor. it would have its own style. besides, with costumes don't monks and necros look the same now anyways?

Presumably the professions linked by sharing an armor category will have the same body shape in Guild Wars 2, that is NOT the case in GW1.
This is GW1, not GW2, what is happening in GW2 has little bearing on GW1... I can't swim or jump in GW1 either, nor are there shared non-instanced explorable areas. Different game.
As for your point about the costumes... yes, and it has been the cause of many complaints and looks downright ridiculous in some instances, but then you were asking for armor weren't you? If not then you were just asking for a 'free' costume.

Actually I am looking for some rewards in the new update that feel meaningful. Armor to me is a meaningful reward. Costumes can't match the coolness of playing through content and getting the carrot on a stick. With costumes, you just slap your credit card down.
