Ok, it's not the same, since you don't get skills that deal more dmg or something, but it's still actual SKILL based on a title..

And, treasure, wisdom and lucky also give benefit since you get less change of breaking picks/breaking items

As for the OP...no. Buying increased power in this game is not the way to go. Costumes and skill packs are one thing....those skills aren't more powerful because you bought them and you don't have more armor with a costume on. Even if titles are made account-wide, they shouldn't be able to be purchased.

Maxing them with the first characters is not really a problem.

Maxing them with 10 characters is the problem.

I wish you could ask for 'letters of recommendation' with the characters that maxed them, so you can bring one from each character that maxed the title to each one of the rest.

What are this letters?
-These are items that can't be traded, are customized to the one that creates them, and can be placed in storage.

How do you use them?
- A character that has a title maxed can talk with any of the Historians that give points for non-account wide titles (like Lexx or Source of Whispers) and as for a letter of recommendation for that rank.
They can ask for as many as they want, and they stack. All they received appear 'cutomized' to that character.
- Then, they change characters, and go talk with the same NPC the letters are from, and bring the letters of recommendation. For each title and character, they can use ONE letter or recommendation customized to the same character, and they get some extra points like that.
- You can repeat this for each character that maxes the title, and each letter gives you 10% of the total title.

That way, if you have 10 characters:
- 1st character maxes norn, and gets 9 norn letters of recommendation to use with that
- The rest of the characters can use one of his letter of recommendation to get 10% of the title. They can use 1 "Customized to 1st character" letter each.
- 2nd character maxes norn, and the other 8 can get another 10%.
And so on until the 10th.

But just paying for the title... nah.

I think grinding should have stayed out of this game in the first pace.
When Nightfall first came, everything went to crap with grinding.
Eye of the North added more even more grinding which made it worse.

I don't want to buy PVE-only skills but it would be helpful to have maybe tomes for pve-skills.Once you unlock them on one acct you could get them using the tomes. Now they wouldn't be powerful cause you would still need to progress the titles, which you can do by just playing the game. I have 6 chars and trying to get the PVE skills for them is just not fun (I'm looking at you polymock

) Sure I don't have to have them in order to play the game but I would like to use them for some fun and for something different.

Still, i wouldn't mind that possibility.

As some of you, i'm against being able to buy something that gives an advantage in the game. But it only makes sense when applied to competitive things - if PvE-only skills were usable in PvP, it would be unfair to be able to buy them. However, as the name suggests, they are PvE-only, so you would gain no edge over other players in terms of competition.
At the same time, there would be more players with max PvE skills, what is good for pugs and even guild runs.
Moreso, ANet would get a penny from it.
What's the problem, really?

I'm annoyed by the costumes - the only way to get them is to buy them. If there was any way to obtain them in game, even by the most grindfesty quest line that'd repulse me a kilometer away, i wouldn't mind them. If there was one crappy costume to get in-game, so that you hype yourself towards buying more of them, i wouldn't mind that much.
But PvE skills? You don't have to buy them. You can get them by playing, for free. You can't use them against other players. If you use them while playing with other players, everyone benefits.

e: i'm in support of unlocking skills of the highest tier, as separate skills with fixed numbers, not the title.

I guess the problem is that the skills are linked to the title and to code it differently might break existing stuff. It is probably using the same construct as the normal skills are tied to your attributes. So they would have to recode every skill in the game to do it, or have two separate classes, one for PVE-only skills and one for skills.

No no no no no. Makeovers, names changes, and costumes are pushing the F2P envelope enough. PvP unlock pack makes sense but paying to get titles or anything else is just a big no no.

Im all for Anet introducing gimmicky little eye candies for money but nothing that affects actual gameplay.

@Mithran, i like your letter idea. I think you should have to work some on other chars for rep titles but starting at 0 everytime doesnt make much sense.

That's irrelevant. Why on earth would they have to recode every skill in the game to achieve flat performance on skills when there are already skills that have no progression?

Scaling associated with grind titles is an abomination that should be eradicated. I have a neutral stance towards this suggestion for that reason as I agree with the motivation but not the means.

Nope. He just wants skills with max values. Nothing about titles whatsoever.
So ANet could create a new set of skills, with fixed values, that would be given to someone who bought the pack. Completely separately. You could use only one copy of a given skill, eg. Mindbender (Title) or Mindbender (Store), not both, as it's with Lux/Kurz versions.

yeah, not signed lol, kinda good idea, but it doesnt really require that much grind to max the titles anyway, got my Delver to r9 in 2 days, Asuran to r9 in 1 day, Vanguard to r9 in 1day, norn maxed in 1 day. you just need to put in the effort to get it all done. various dungeons can be a good source of rep.
