VQ pinger
What I don't like about VQ is running around the vast area searching for the last monster. It's annoying and doesn't give much fun to VQing.
So just a little ping on the map when you reach 95% VQing would help a lot every 20 seconds.

Wish something like this would have been implemented a long time ago would have saved alot of time on vanquishes. As long as it's not too annoying /signed

I'm not sure if you can say it will be too annoying even if it is every 5 seconds.
After reaching 95% completion, you want to look for the last monsters. And even if you reached some monsters, you'll kill them and look for more. Because the vast lands are empty.

This "problem" is now probably the only good reason to bother grouping with other people to vanquish. Players can just spread out and quickly locate what's left. Myself I've found this part, the hunt for survivors, actually the most fun part of a vanq run with PuGs (and it gets even better if you also loot stuff others didn't pick up, and trust me, you can find things unbelievably valuable this way)

Not to mention that this suggestion would be exceptionally hard to implement technically - the server often completely isn't aware where the uncovered mobs are, it doesn't track their activity in order to save on resources.

be thoroughly and you won't have to backtrack.
if you DO have to backtrack, it's your own fault.

Since they made the game/HoM easier with 7 heroes, drunkard, and survivor. I say why not with VQ pinger.

There are some monsters that do like to run around.
Minotaurs anyone?

BLOODY ANVIL ROCK! NEVER AGAIN! >.< Took me an HOUR to find that last damn patrol and MUCH profanity was spouted on Vent at the time ¬_¬
-sighs-
However, as frustrating as that particular vanquish was for me, I actually find part of the challenge of a vanquish to be to clear it in one go without having to backtrack. As I usually do cartography at the same time (and after I've VQed), I tend to clear an area pretty thoroughly. Patrols are the only really annoying part and I don't see how having a pinger would help as they'd be moving, the pings would be moving (and most likely off compass so you wouldn't see them anyway) so you'd just know there was a patrol in a certain direction. In theory it could be the complete other side of the map or just out of compass.
I think it'd also be a nightmare to implement as what if you've got two groups of foes in two different areas?
Sorry but

This has already been suggested a couple of times. Usually by someone who lost a patrolling mob and cost them a few minutes tracking it down.
You can even follow Yawgmoth's suggestion of splitting up with Heroes - Just flag each one to different points of the map and when one dies, you know where the mob is.

Keep better track of where you have vanquished and you won't have a problem. It is one of the challenges of vanquishing.

Even in some of the biggest maps I don't have a problem finding the last mobs because of the way I VQ. I simply wall hug my way around killing everything in radar then do loop through the center. Only time I miss any is when a map has odd paths and I get lost but then it's only a matter of looking on the map to see where you haven't been.
On a separate note I wish when you fully uncover a map it would give you a VQ like reward and permanent marker to show which zones are completed for cartographer.

I've VQ'd atleast 50 areas ( not very big at it yet ) and I have never had a problem finding all the monsters. Maybe its just the routes you take? if its any help the way I do it is bounce back and forth like a zigzag pattern and it always works well with me. Or bring a friend and when your down low just split up.

I'd like a consumable that did that.
A spying glass made by a Lightbringer [Consumables] NPC, or maybe being able to bring Dungeon Maps to the scrying pool, dipping them in it and turning them into 'magic maps' that work for 10 minutes, pinging the nearest enemy.
At least there would one decent use for those things.

As others said: it's one of the challenges of vanquishing. Take some time to plan a route where you don't have to cross the same path again/a lot.
I missed mobs too on the first time vanquishing, now it's pretty rare for me to miss something.
The sollution really is simple as said before:
- plan route you take;
- split up if playing with others;
- flag heroes on certain points of the map to see if something comes along there.
People just seem to get more lazy every day tbh...

Then it is also ping both monsters.
As long it hits the 95% completion mark you get a ping.

I VQed all the areas 2-3 times, some even more. The fun of VQ-ing is learning where the groups are and how they move so you don't get to that point where you need to look for the last one.

Right, so you could have pings from every direction. I can see how that's SO useful
