PvE Unlock Characters
Might get flamed for this, but similar to how a PvP character can be made and is ready to go in five minutes, I think they should add a similar feature for PvE.
If you're like me and you've already played through the game on six or more characters, sometimes you wana try out cool builds but just can't bear to level a new character. After that many run throughs, I think maybe there should be some kind of option to create a lvl 20 character than has all the heroes unlocked and can be played in PvE.
Here are the features:
- You make a special 3rd type of character that is only unlocked once you've "beaten" the game a certain number of times, or have a certain amount of level 20 characters. This character starts at level 20 and has all the heroes available to him unlocked upon creation, which are also level 20.
- This character doesn't start with any runes/mods or anything special. Just typical 1.5k level 20 armor and some kind of starter weapon. Similarly his heroes are also essentially blank.
- He only starts off with the standard skill set a level 1 character would have, and still has to capture elites/buy skills.
- Since the whole point is to avoid playing through the storyline, this character would have all the mission outposts unlocked which you have already completed on other characters (not necessarily small outposts though).
- This special third type of character would NOT be eligible for any titles except those linked to PvE skills, and would NOT receive birthday presents.
They could possibly add this as some kind of new feature in the online store, perhaps requiring you buy a special character slot to create this kind of character. Thoughts/comments?

No the game is easy enough as it is if you're lazy to run all to all the outposts and missions pay someone else to do it for you.

Maybe next they will have a socializing unlock pack too! Then the character you had nothing to do with making could make friends you had nothing to do with meeting and could do missions, maybe it could pick a guild for it to join... Someday, if we are lucky, we won't even need to log into the game, we could just rest assured that they are enjoying playing the game we are too lazy to play... Oh , thats right , digital characters we have nothing to do with are called NPCs! Is it just me or does the player base even like playing the game?
just no

Easier and cheaper way to do that: don't play PvE.
I'm sorry, but this is a terribad idea. If you want something, work for it. There's enough shortcuts in PvE as it is ¬_¬ I get frustrated at times that some of my other characters don't have certain outposts but if I need something badly, I'll ask for a run. Other than that, I play the damn game to get to where I need to be. That's kinda the point, no? Either that or I've REALLY missed something :P

So you would require playing through the game x amount of times,to enable you to play through it again?
Is that not sort-of how it works now? Only most actually get a bit smarter and more aware of what they're doing second, third, fourth or fifth time round.

Lets see - Razah you get after completing nf and done a quest , thats a hero unlocked after completion.
If your so bothered about heros then why not purchase the merc pack and that way you`ll have all your lvl 20 mercs just like you want youe heros - gettable from the start.
The idea is bad because its screaming - im lazy / im a bad player .
You complete / play gw on multiple chrs so they can progress themselves otherwise why the hell give us so many slots ?.
Why start a new chr and get them thru gw when i can jump in a new lvl 20 pve toon - wow makes farming so much easier , we only need 3 chr slots - 1 pvp chr , 1 pve chr and pve chr lvl 20 to do everything else - damn i got 5 spare slots doing nothing.
PvP has lvl 20 chr creation for a reason and thats to keep the playing field at an even level .. you cant see a lvl 3 pvp monk going into ab - or even being accepted.
How the hell would you lvl a pvp chr ? by doing pvp quests till you reach lvl 20 against pvp foes coz no way would you survive against other players.Oh wait doing pvp quests would mean your going to end up doing a type of pve clone .. defeats the object of being a PVP chr.
When we get 7 hero parties and the games made a lot easier we get someone who seems to imply they want the game even easier , give us a lvl 20 pve chr creation - and why not give us all obby armor , cash and err what the hell just give us entire hom and gwamm so we dont even have to play gw and gw2 we can be spoonfed our titles.
Cormac i lol`d so hard i fell off my chair when i read what you said - true tho .Btw your male warrior`s been socialising too much with my female ele and now shes pregnant !!! lol

Basically the dude has never played any other game.
Imagine you roll something in WoW/Aion/Warhammer/RF/Everquest/Rift/DCUniverse, level it to max level and decide you want to change your character completely. Do you think they let you start at max?
/notsigned, mostly because it sounds like you're whining over 9 hours of levelling. Boohoo.
I don't understand why people want to roll PvE chars just to do something in PvE. Aside from farming, people should look to migrate their chars to PvP for a more aesthetically pleasing killing spree. GW is PvP and people need to realise that again!

Creating a PvE character... and then not playing PvE with it...?
o_O
Get 10 characters slots for PvE.
Make one character of each profession.
Acquire all skills in each of them.
Done, now you can try as many builds as you want.

You sir, just took lazy to a whole new level. I played through storyline at least 15 times, deleting some characters that completed something, only to recreate them a couple months later cause all of a sudden, I need them again.

Dumb idea. Make whatever characters you want and work on them, if you don't want to do that then you don't really want the profession.....also um...PvP says hi.

My friends and I used to have a joke where we had a code for our NES and we could put a game in and push the power button and we would win the game. This reminds me of that joke.

Its not about being lazy, its about the fact that GW has ZERO replayability and the missions/storylines are all really bad.
"Playing PvE" is not about grinding through the same old shitty missions over and over. For me it's about experimenting with different builds and coming up with new ways to beat difficult areas.
Sometimes i'd be nice to try out a paragon build you think would be really effective in a certain area, but you can't because you'd have to play a boring ass paragon through more than half the borescape called Nightfall. In the same way PvP would suck if you wanted to try out some build but had to play RA for 20 hours to do it.
I understand you guys have put the majority of your lives into the game over the past 5 years, but a lot people enjoy the buildmaking side of GW, and don't want the whole RP/horrible VA/grindbecauseimaloserwithnothingelsetodo aspect.
Builds are fun - playing the story for the umpteenth time isn't.

Ohai. Guild Wars is an MMORPG. You may not know this but RPGs involve a story.
By the sounds of things, you have no interest in the lore and the story. Well, sorry to say, but a lot of people do. Maybe you're playing the wrong genre if you just want to rape things. I suggest Dynasty Warriors OWAIT THAT HAS STORY TOO!
Also, I've been playing for less time than you. I joined Guru when I started playing GW. Your argument is invalid and I am wearing an umbrella hat.

If you want to mess with builds making a level 20 takes next to no time tomes are cheap and PvE skills take no time to get and once again get runs if you played through the game as many times as you make it sound you should have a semi decent reserve of cash. You're just being lazy about what you want to do suck it up and do what everyone else does and play through the game to get where you want to be and what you want to do.

Then please don't play Guild Wars? you're delusional to think that Anet would ultimately uproot their entire campaign just to allow kids like you to go swing their bats at NPCs for "buildmaking".
"buildmaking" has always been zone specific or PvP related. Zone specific. I heard you can change skills and attributes in towns and outposts for free in GW...... And i'm sure every areas instanced, so you need to enter from said town/outpost.......
The summary of your whining is: you would rather choose an area instantly and go kill things in it (like a mission menu)? I'm sorry but experimenting with builds vs the PvE landscape which has unbalanced mobs for a reason, doesn't not constitute valid experimentation. A warrior with power attack in the same area will do the job just as well as your "theorycrafting".
Funny how you complain that repeating the campaigns has no goal when all you want to do is farm NPCs.
Go play PvP.

Another absolutely terrible idea. If you want to experiment with builds then level a character and do it, doesnt exactly take very long. Otherwise pvp or play something else.
