Dedicating weapons not customize
Before I go into this subject, I want to say that if there has already been threads on this, which there very may well have been, then mods please close. So, I was think that instead of having weapons customized to your character, it could be just dedicated. This would give the same effect as the mini pets, making it so that people could dedicate it, and then possibly sell it, or use it for multiple chars. Such as using a destroyer staff for an ele for fff, and then giving it to a sin for farming ectos and such. Please post your feedback on if you think this is a good idea or not and why.

I like the idea, and feel it should be done to an extent...
Once you dedicate it, you should be able to use it for another character (instead of just hero's), so it is dedicated to your account, not to just that character...BUT, should not be able to sell (ie; use on another account)

In a sense, the issue of putting useless weapons into the HoM is getting fixed, since it's moving to be account based. On the other hand, if you want the weapons to all still go towards the same character, the problem persists.
I wish that dedication would show who something is dedicated to (Dedicated to "XXX YYY"). If that doesn't work, you can always dump the extra weapons onto your heroes.

But the whole purpose of "Dedicating" is to make the pet's main purpose pretty much useless. What does dedicating a weapon do? You are still able to use it and won't lose value just because it says "Dedicated to " "".

One thing about dedicating a weapon to HOM is that it customizes to your character but doesn't give the extra 20% dmg. That, in my opinion, is a waste and something that should be fixed.
I'm all for a weapon that can be used across an account instead of just one character, and as long as the weapon isn't customized, selling is fine. But again, make it like the mini pets so that it can't be dedicated more than once.

Question: what exactly is the main purpose of a mini-pet?
Because I have just been letting mine walk around my character in town.
Wow, maybe I can do things with it that I never knew of...
Please reply back!!!

I think weapons should be able to used over the whole account once they are added to HoM.

All customisation should be account-based really. It's just way too annoying otherwise.
I have a lot of expensive/rare wands that are useful on a lot of characters, which I just cannot bring myself to customise.

I think Tender Wolf is half right. Dedicating at HoM was originally bugged such that the damage bonus was not given, nor could it later be customized. Customizing, then dedicating worked, I believe, but I am not sure. ANet has since fixed this issue.
On topic, don't customize items that you want to use on another character. The 20% benefit comes with a price.

Well it used to be that if you dedicated one of the destroyer weapons it wouldn't add the 20% extra damage. Not having any weapons in HOM, I didn't realize they fixed it. So soooooooooooorry to you damn flamers that have been hating on me all day. I'm looking at you, holymasamune.
But I do agree that they should be locked to your account if they're added to the HOM instead of just your character. Mini pets don't do anything but walk around and they have that avantage, why not weapons?
While we're at it, allow all weapons to be added in there instead of just the ugly and expensive ones.

Tenderwolf, you're right with regards to the buggy HoM.
But these days it works fine.

Hopefully it'll allow you to do it on any character when it goes account based. (Don't hold your breath, you know they'll screw it up one way or another...)
I'll /Sign is anyway.

While you are right, even then you could take it back to a weaponsmith and customize it again.

I 100% totally agree with this.
But heres a question for you.... (not meaning to change the subject, but here goes)
For those folks that at the moment have a "full" hall, when they implament the torment weapons of being able to go into the halls, is this going to mess them up? or are the torment weapons going to be just an add on, but not needed for a "full" hall? This question has been running around in my mind ever sinse they staerted talking about puting the torment weapons in the hall.

I don't understand why dedicating makes it customized. Just make the weapon dedicated, i.e. so it cannot be dedicated again. No customization, that would be like if once you dedicated a minipet, you could never trade it. bad idea

I'd rather add one Prestige set to each campaign (Titan, Shiro'ken, Torment, Destroyer) and make the Valor monument account wide.

HoM is gonna be account based so dedication should be an account based thing. it's just logical.
