I always hoped they would balance out the heroes so we had 3 of each but I am not sure its the right thing to do now we have mercs.
Anet seem to have listened that players wanted more heroes and chosen the pay for them method much like they did with storage.
Adding a new hero like they did with wik is ok but creating too many would probably be seen as a bad move by those who bought the merc packs and I couldn't really blame them.

No, because it would solve nothing. People would still complain about not being able to do the mythical uber 7 heroes of one prof group.
To stop the complaining would require the addition of 8 optional profession heroes to replicate any possible configuration of mercenary hero groups. A duplication of the highest priced merc pack, sans customization. 7 would not do it, since they would find some outlandish "advantage" to a Mercenary purchaser having 8 and having "slots" that can be reconfigured to different professions.
Hot on the heels of a free 7 hero update that many decried as making the game too easy you want even more based upon some imagined advantages of the mercenary pack. Not much gratitude, and even less consistency.

other....yes to mesmer, NO to another totally useless sin! (meh on the rit). I already have a bunch of melee heroes that never see the light of day (heck I doubt that ANY of my antons HAVE a skillbar other than the one they came to me with!).
Now they did say we will probably get another hero with woc--nothing says it has to be a rit or sin (we got keiran in prophecies as a PARAGON --)... I would be fine with a 3rd mesmer, but at 26 heroes already I just am heroed out.

always wanted an extra mes and rit for some builds, the assassin doesn't matter as much but if you're gunna have 3 of each you might as well.

@Lasai - You would only need 5 multi purpose heros to make a full 8 team, as you can only add 7 heros to a party, and the minimum heros of each profession is 2.
1 + 2 + 5 = 8
Maybe writing down the sums might help you work that out. And it's not our fault if you bought the Mercs for something other than to have cool looking heros.

First off, why would this possibly not happen?
and even if it didn't WHY wouldn't you LIKE it?
What would your picks be for the new heroes to be...Assassin, Ritualist, and Mesmer?

Rit- Oola, Blimm. Has to be from the Tyrian continent.
Mesmer- Ghost of Lady Althea? ; Well there hasn't been a Kurzick hero yet...
How would the change benefit you?
Free heroes. woot.
I can create possibly a few more builds without having to dish out 40 bucks to get my merc slots.
Why do you support this change?
What bad could possibly come from it? People can already create these by buying them. White it is certainly POSSIBLE that the above could effect the value of mercenary slots, it's not like ANet is completely dependant upon micro-transactions for their flow of income >.>

I voted neutral. I think there should be 3 heroes for every core profession, but since there already is 3 paragons and dervishes, they could add As and Rt, and Me, of course, as it is core profession. I really think they are going to add those heroes as we just got third paragon and before that we got M.O.X as third dervish. They just added mercenaries for impatient people. It would be killer if they added Assasin next... I can already hear the QQing.

Excuse me? That is the only reason I bought it, and I run with two heroes of the same prof at best. The 7 hero update is all the power I need, and appearance was the sole reason to buy it. I would have not, ever, purchased stock, ugly heroes, have plenty of them already.
I am not the one screaming advantange here. Back off the personal insults. I am merely pointing out that anything less than full parity with a Merc pack will still cause people to claim unfair advantage for the same reason they are screaming advantage now.

I would pick a ritualist. I run a modified version of Discord with a rit hero as a resto healer. Another rit hero would let me give a try to spiritway (atm I just have a SoS). That's not a big deal, but 3 rits would be a nice addition.

If they do add more heroes let them be none human ones.
It would be nice to have more Charr Norn Asura etc then they could add some interesting conversation lines between them.

Considering that's obviously one of the purposes of the mercs, yes, it is your problem. ANet will not completely screw over the loyal customers who actually paid $50 for merc heroes by subsequently removing the one reason why many people actually bought them. Save for the possible inclusions of an additional mesmer and rit, there's really nothing that you can get with 7 mercs that you should be coveting beyond the cool factor of being able to try out some novelty builds that do not, in the end, function any better (or even as well as) the builds that everyone has available with 7 normal heroes. And yet people bought the packs for that cool factor, and you want to take that away and destroy ANet's credibility with the fans most willing to give them money...why? Because you imagine that people with 7 mercs are steamrolling content that you can't? Think again.
One rit, one mes. That's all we need, and I'm quite certain that we're going to get both (and an assassin besides) at some point in GW:B.

Because of all the Merc discussion I do fear that all we'll get is a (useless, perhaps less so with the future melee AI update) assassin hero so as not to upset Merc buyers. Had the Mercs not been released we'd probably get a mesmer and rit too. This is speculation of course but I think not unreasonable to worry about.

Wtf kind of reply is this? When I'm in the grocery store, I'm not forced to buy anything, I can stroll in, play around a bit and leave as I wish. Same with GW, it's free to play, and buying merc's is an extra, and I refuse to pay for something as stupid as merc heroes. And so do a lot of people. In my opinion, there should be an equal supply of heroes of all professions, that's fair, isn't it?
