Reuse GW1 Beta Codes for GW2
I know i'm gonna get flamed for this but..
How about letting the people who played the beta weekend events for prophecies in on the GW2 beta. We could just enter the code that got us into the first one. Also it would give you your bonus item, (canthan targe) for example, on your character in GW2. I sure would love to run around GW2 with my oldschool preorder bonus item. Not expecting this to really happen, but interested in what you all think.

Wouldn't be surprised if there was new pre-order / special edition items already.

There should be equal opportunity to participate in the beta for any and all.

I don't think they care about their old userbase; it'll be whoever pre-orders. Like Aion.

Are you suggesting that this be the only way to have access to a GW2 beta?

I'm sure if you have a GW1 account you'll have access to a preview weekend. It's a win-win for Anet. GW1 vets are happy, the newcomers who want to experience the preview weekend will buy GW1 so ANet will get some money.

No because I came into Guild Wars in March 2006 and I want to be able to beta GW2 like everyone else, not because I came into the game a year late, but yet played for 4 years and not get anything beta worthy for GW2.
Equal opp.

They've already stated they plan to have a closed beta. They just haven't said when, and how people will be selected.
I would prefer that they give eveyone an opportunity to register for it, and they can randomly draw to fill the spots. If it IS about a pre-order, I wonder if it is a special pre-order. Like right now, for example, you can pre-order gw2 from Amazon. But will NCSoft have their own?

Who the heck still has a beta code from 6 years ago lying around?
I don't think this is a good idea. For one, it is unfair/excludes a lot of people. And, well, even people who were in the old beta might not be able to get into this.

I've seen some pretty horrible ideas in this sub-forum but this is in it's own league. I'm pretty sure they don't want to alienate the majority of their player base any further (I hope...).

If it is set this way, the Beta Code is already going to be on your account, isn't it?

Once you eliminate all the GW-beta people who have moved on from GW, all the GW-beta people who have no interest in GW2, and all the GW-beta people who no longer have their original GW-beta keys from almost 6 years ago, you'd probably have 5 or 6 people (outside of A-Net/NCSoft) left for the GW2 beta.

Im not saying only people from the first beta could beta gw2, im saying if you have a beta code from gw1, you could beta gw2. No where am i asking arena net to only let people with a 6 year old code play the beta, its sort of a taking care of the people that were with them from the start, and stayed with em.

And yes, i still have my preorder box, my collector's edition box, and all my boxes and codes, I guess im a gw collector. I still use the music CD that came with prophecies in my alarm clock..I must be a fanatic.

So you think someone that was there for the beta and played for a whopping month after release is more important than someone like me that played for thousands of hours and spent tons of money over the past few years? Who really deserves a VIP pass?
Stop hoping for special treatment and get in line with the rest of us when beta time rolls around.

Don't like the idea. As it has been stated, equal opportunities for all.
