Hmm... how about forget about weekly changes etc. Use the currently available GvG and HA Henchies as "costumes."
When you enter the battle, each player gets 1 min to pick a costume. Both sides will have access to the same costumes. Players will then be able to chat with their team members to "organize" a team based on whatever available costumes, hence pre-made characters, there are. After 1 min is up, all players will have to already have picked a costumed character to play as, or will be randomly assigned one. They will then be transported to the arena for the fight.
