Autopicking allows for easier botting so it won't happen.
Use ; (default hotkey for target nearest item)

No, just no... for so many reasons the mind just boggles.

I wonder how many posts there'll be telling Potestas to use the search function, considering that both of his suggestions have been made many times before?

BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD. Ok, now that I've said that, we don't need anything helping the already prolific botting problem. I understand the desire to spend less time picking things up, but hotkey (spacebar near the items) if the half second it takes is too much effort, not sure what to tell you. Now cheaper storage? That's something I think we all get on board with. Discounts happen periodically, just keep an eye on the in game store.

People are getting so lazy nowadays, they don't even want to have to pick up their own loot..(no surprise that there are so many bots now, and so many people getting hacked for downloading shady programs to automate game functions) There are so many ways to simplify and speed up this process as mentioned in previous posts that i cannot understand the need for an autoloot function.
Regarding storage costs, cormac mentioned that NCSoft sometimes has specials on the store goodies. If you're not keen to wait around for one of those specials, start selling stuff. Or, if you are a kleptomaniac, stick some of the gear you hold in the storage onto your heroes.... Or, do what I do:
roll PvP toon
buy bags
put items on PvP toon
????
Profit
Also, what Yol said.
that is all.

As said for the looting: d+space picks up the loot quite easily.
For storage space: You must be disciplined: Salvage all that yields iron and granite, its easy to sell, merch rest. Also its a good to have a small storage of mods for when you need it on a hero, new char etc. Keep a small section for stuff that might be valuable and find some friends who can PC it for you or use this forum. After the PC it might turn out that it is just for the merch. It can be done
Go through your storage regularly. If an item has been taking space for long time and isnt particularly valuable, merch it. If its valuable, sell.

I just had to login and say that I love the idea of a minipet running around with backbag and picking up loot =P. In general tho, anet won't be having time for that =P

Lazy people being lazy. I mean, really? You don't even want to have to pick up your own loot?
In my day, we had to walk 15 miles through demon infested dungeons to pick up our loot. Up hill both ways.

Asking storage panes to cost less sounds more like a complaint than a suggestion, and having minipets pick up drops is an idea that is very, very old.
