Don't Fear the Reaper Quest
Is there a reason that a difficult master solo quest is the second quest in a chain of quests? I'm not saying get rid of Reapers, but put it where it doesn't block the chain? Or, perhaps make it so that each reaper is a tick mark on the quest. If you get the Plains reaper, that's marked off so you don't have to keep going back to the same reaper. Maybe reward a large bonus if you get them all in the same run so there's still incentive to do it all at once, and a smaller reward for doing them one at a time.

It's honestly not that hard of a quest, you just need to be patient. The "master" level difficulty is misplaced here, in my opinion.

That's not really hard quest.
It's all only about when and where to go, when to use KD or influence.
There are many guides to it.
And it unlocks the best Halloween farm which I find rewarding enough.
P.S. Many friends of mine tried-> failed a few times-> used BU-> failed-> complained like you-> tried again-> did it.

Edit: I agree with madriel222, I did both quests for the 1st time without ever done complete UW and only done Something Wicked This Way Comes last year.
Not really hard.

I remember a time when I was complaining about it too, because of The Bone Pits, but after a few tries it was a walk in the park and like Sagittario said it unlocks the best halloween farm,so....

OK, people that got the quest done... said that quest is really easy!
Am one on the frustrated group that cant get quest, and not just me theres a lot of the people in my alliance that have same problem. This people is just letting this part of the event and jump into something else.
Not sure why the quest is so easy for someone and so complicated for others.
The true is that quest must be out of the quest chain in order to all enjoy the event quests.

yes, having a solo quest as the first 2 quests in a chain with the final ones being groups is very strange....and having the 2nd as a 'master' level (which I believe it is--I am one of the 'cant do it even with bu') is just wrong....it should be easy, med hard, hard, and then master levels...not master smooshed inbetween. (and from the pm's I have received --I am not the only one who says its a very hard quest).
so
yeah...

Some people are better at GW than others.
It isn't hard. It isn't a race. Just takes patience and timing.
Things shouldn't have to be dumbed down constantly because a few people can't do it. It takes the fun away for other people.

I'm not asking for it to be dumbed down--I think its just fine; there are areas in gw that I know I will never be able to do (doa for another)....we just think that having a master level quest in the middle of a quest chain is ...not right, ---quests should get harder as you move along, not have a hard one (that many cant get thru) and then a bunch of so easy-my-cat-do-it quests AFTER the master level. (kinda like having the battle of LA being the 2nd quest before the other ones --before it was nerfed).
it doesnt make sense.

Even though I have no issues with the quest, I have guildies that do, so inturn hear about the frustration that this quest can amass. Moving the quest after "every bit helps" seems completely reasonable as it and "steaming the skeletal tide" are noticably easier.

I've talked to way more people who have problems with the Reaper quest than people who don't. Some of these people are afraid to speak out because of the 'omg, it's easy, you're a bad player' mentality that comes out.
As Cosyfiep said, we're not asking for it to be dumbed down. Heck, keep it as it is. We just think it's misplaced in a chain of quests.

I had trouble with this quest today and finally just gave up. Count me in that "bad player" category, not having a ton of experience solo running in general.

It really isn't that hard at all, ive done it on 8 chars. Just do pits reaper first because that seems to be the hardest area for most.

I made it on the second run with near 0 UW experience before (I've had gw for a long time but never done the halloween quests before for some reason), the only reason I failed the first time was because I miscalculated how much damage these non-moving worms do (forgot their names), I'd made it on the first run if I wasn't so shy of using 4.
It really comes down to KDing the casters (especially the mesmers and necro's) before they get their degen spells on you. If you catch a degen spell, then hit 4 and run and hide until you've got max hp again.
1 is really used on cd in order to speed the run up. But if you see that you're going to face a dificult mob, then save it and use it a bit later so you rush away from the mob instead of into them.
2 is really used as a semi 4, it's most effective on melee, but can be really effective in combination with 1 in order to get away and hide.
I think people who have trouble with this either:
#use 4 too sparingly
#rushes into trouble with 4 on cd
#don't use 3 enough (do 3>tab>3>tab>3...)
#use 3 on the wrong targets
#don't understand how 2 and 4 aoe works (2 is around you target and 4 around you).

Signed for one reason I like my festivals to be open to all players of all skill ability and character levels.
Festivals are about having fun celebrating and definitely not about providing challenging quests for the better players.
Nothing wrong in having a chain of quests and making the last one rather tough or having increased rewards for doing the quest chain in hard mode.
Compared to Wintersday and the Dragon festivals some of the quests are a little hard or long.
Wish they would just open up ashford abbey on halloween and have a quest chain there.
It was quite a nice undead area in pre, turning it into a halloween dungeon for the lower levels might be good.

OK I finished it on my 4th try. The reaper area is the hardest so you do want to head that way first to get the hang of getting past that area (the rest of the Underworld is fairly easy). As mentioned in this thread, most mobs of foes can be knocked down one by one (3-tab-3-tab-3...). You want to use the Mad King's Influence on the pop up of Mindblade Spectres on the Chaos Plains and against the Coldfire Nights in that area.
I did cheat and pop a cupcake a couple times just to keep my speed boost going constantly.

If anyone else has trouble with the Twin Serpent Mountains/Obsidian Behemoths, if you take off your ranged weapon or equip a melee weapon, they'll shoot at you less. They'll be too busy laying traps.
On-Topic, I guess: Although I've struggled a bit with this quest this year (weird, since I've flown through it in past years; but as I remember some of the tricks, it's getting easier -- observation is key), I'm on the side of not moving it, sorry. It's an appropriate bottleneck for the highly-farmable "Every Bit Helps," and comes perfectly in line for introducing you to The Underworld. Makes no sense to move the "tour the UW in relative safety" quest after quests that drop you into the Underworld for real.

I also tried this a few times, did Bone pits first, barely got thru, did all the other areas, then was on my last area got hit twice by Ataxe dead. got too excited that i was almost at end. gave up after 6 tries, I think the quest is easy but at bone pits if u get hit twice by the hexes its over, the hexes is what is the problem in bone pits rest is easy but annoying, i think if u die u should go to a shrine try again, instead of being kicked and having to start all over again. actually u can just do the first quest skip the rest, and just do the other quests from Hakewood LA and King Thorn Kamadan and the 1 Wicked this way comes,if you do all those with each of your characters u get 2 stacks ToTs per character.

How about you dumb the quest down to a level, where you only need to use a con that costs 3k, press a button every 20 seconds and navigate through an area without any danger - WAIT! That happened.
Registering on this board is harder than this quest.

So I bought the game and have got to lions arch and hey there is a festival on i'm up for that.
First mission fight my way to the temple of ages with lvl 10 henchmen ok done that now do the 3 part mission with 7 lvl 15 henchmen ok done that.
Now all I need to do is defeat rotscale with those same henchmen and take out the mausaleum.
Then its fight my way to the fire islands for the last part.
Or I can jump to Nightfall and do all the missions there, once on the start island I fight my way as far as vabbi and do those quests.
Of course the first underworld mission is doable as its a question of avoiding everything so too can the second though each time you fail you need to be able to get transmog potions to keep at it and its a long trek esp if you have no idea of the layout.
I happen to think its unfriendly to new players and expecting a lot from them, good for them if they can do the quests.
I still think some easy content is a must just like the other festivals.
Its all doable with a lvl 20 character and lvl 20 heroes and enough skills unlocked for decent builds.
Festivals that are supposed to cater to the entire player community should not require that.
Anyway enough said its too late to do anything for this year but I would like some effort put in for next halloween.
Nice idea to give extra tot bags for surviving Mad King Thorns appearances Stay alive and get 100 bags is pretty good and something all players can get.
Well done anet.
