Minion Skin
For the ingame store, I would like to have different minion skin.
For example, I would like a Lionguard soldier on my Bone Horror, a Lionguard Archer on my BoneFiend, a Lionguard General(Larger version of Lionguard Soldier) on my Flesh Golem, a Lionguard Assassin on my Shambling.
There are tons of skins available to choose from,
-White Mantle
-Shining Blade
-Zaishen
-Cantha
-Luxon(Salt Spray Dragon as the Flesh golem)
-Kurzick(Juggernaut as Flesh Golem.)
-Sunspear
-Order of Whisper
-Norn
-Deldrimor Dwarves
-Asura
-Charr
-Palawa's undead
-Vizer Khilbron's undead
-Kournan
-Corsair
-Bog Skales
-Jotun(They'll be scaled down except for the flesh golem version)
-Stone Summit
-Tengu
-And anything on this list.
It'll be a great profit for Anet since there are so many skin to sell to with very little work.
Plus it'll give me more immersion because I can summon the Shining Blade to fight back the White Mantle. Or I can use the White Mantle because they look so purty!
The only thing be changed is the skin. Attack speed, armor, and weakness to holy damage still stay the same. So it is still cosmetic. These skins are PvE only.
Lore-breaking cosmetics are nothing new, Disciple of Melandru, Disciple of Balthazar, White Mantle Robes, Tuxedos, other costumes, summoning Stones and tonics are lore-breakers. The exception is that Minion skins is strictly outside of the outpost like Summoning stones and several tonics.
If you still want Lore, the new minion teleports to your place using the corpse + your energies similar to the powers of Consume Corpse.

Lore-wise that makes absolutely no sense. "Hey man what's a minion maker?" "Someone who turns dead people into Charr." Maybe different UNDEAD things within reason, but not anything that already exists. The lore is that a necromancer makes creatures out of the flesh of the dead, not makes them into random things. If there were a few different sets of undead skins to buy then ok, but as i said not ones that exist.

If you want to get technical with it, show me the lore Behind typing /rank and have animals appear on front of you. You can't. OP's idea is just another way for Anet to get some money while giving the players something to drool over like the shining blade costume. It'll just make the game slighty more entertaining and let's be honest, Anet could use the money to hire a new skill balancer... <3

I'd rather the minions look like what they were summoned from. (If you summoned a minion from a dead skale, they look like an undead skale, instead of a tangled mess of flesh. It would still attack upclose like they normally do.) That would be neat, but a shitload of unnecessary programming.

the only ones that would even make remote sense would be the various undead and Shiroken.

wont make sense, imo it would be anoying rather than fun too (if I team with someone who has those, cause obviously I would not buy or use) can't really explain why... thats just how I feel.

I like this idea, gives us more things to entertain ourselves with; cosmetically. The OP is just proposing a skin, just like a costume. AFAIK, there's no lore pertaining to people spontaneously turning into magical candycorn people from chugging down concoctions. Lore is irrelevant when it comes to cosmetic appeal.

Prefer the idea of undead looking like the dead creature they came from as suggested by Zenzai but have no objection to the basic idea if people want to spend money in this way.

Well, I do like the idea, but don't think it would fit on a necromancer, concept wise. I think this would fit better with a rt to be honest as they are meant to summon dead spirits from the spirit world. I can see spiritual and chained versions of the skins you mentioned and even dialogues from them. However, it wouldn't be too bad an idea to kill a monster, reanimate a monster and have the minion look like said monster. I can picture an army of jade brotherhood vs the Am Fah. However I think this aesthetic change should only be really considered after more pressing issues like skill balances of relatively underpowered classes or adjusting hard mode monster armor.
/Signed for later after a few relevant updates of what I said comes out

If you want your minions to look like it has personality, go for it.
I know I have a MM hero who would do the summoning for me while I charge through

Did you read the part where it should not take too much time + gives great profit to Anet? This means your 'real' problems is noted.

No one is forcing you to buy the skin. If you don't like the skins, you have every right to not buy it. Someone else may feel immersed lore-wise by being the General of the Ascalon Army while doing the Shiverpeaks Mountains Mission, because they know how to ignore their MM hero. If you are a MM, you don't have to buy the Ascalon Army skin or vice versa, just buy Palawa's Undead or another animated creature like the golems. Then you'll feel like the Necromancer or something.
It isn't like that one of your Guildmates that brags to you about how they got the White Mantle skin for their minions going to affect your playstyle or your lore-wise since PvE is Instanced.
Even if you could prove me wrong, lore-breaking cosmetics are nothing new, Disciple of Melandru, Disciple of Balthazar, White Mantle Robes, Tuxedos, other costumes, summoning Stones and tonics are lore-breakers. The exception is that Minion skins is strictly outside of the outpost.

minion skins may be out of outposts but I might still affect you if someone you play with or you pug with someone who use it.
Costumes are not that much of lorebreakers imo. most of them might as well been armors.
Im still /not signed for the ops idea.
however I could sorta agree to minions being clearly undead mindless versions of whatever was killed, don't see that happen though.

The only change I would make with minions is giving unique appearances to each of them.
Currently, the Flesh Golem, Celestial Horror and Celestial assassin use the same model.
Also, Vampiric Bone Horror and Bone minions use the same appearance.
- For the Celestial Assassin, I would use the ghostly assassin models seen in the CE dances.
- For the Celestial Horror, I would use the Abomination model.
- For the Vampiric Horro, I would use the Flesh Golem abomination model seen in the Ring of Fire Islands.
- For the Bone minions, I would use reskin of a Jade Scarab, to make the model look all fleshy and bony.
Custom reskins? Heh. No way.

If a player has a White mantle skin fighting against the White Mantle army, how do you distinguish between them?
Answer: Press Ctrl. I am not sure if you use it, but I definitely use it all the time to target my enemies.
Costumes are not lore breakers? You might as well say that this isn't out of place.
And what about summoning stone? You fail to mention that it does affect someone you pug with.
And those tonics when people use gnomes or candy korn tonics.

Technically speaking, a "Skin" Is a "redo" if you will, of the original model. What you are proposing, is that they add/change the minion MODEL to different creatures.
As for new SKINS, you can do that yourself by Skinning (as modders like to call it) the desired model into something different/better/worse. HOW? I have no clue personally.
/notsigned
MODEL wise.

SKIN wise (However you can do that yourself)

I am well aware of the ctrl key and use it often... so besides the point entirely.
Besides I was commenting on the post saying it is in instances and implied it would not affect anyone that might not like it, which is not entirely true as human teams is still out there.
I rarely ever pug and doubt any of my friends or guildies would buy this thing, so Im unlikely to be affected.
I can still dislike the idea, weather it is lorebreaker or not. For most part I don't really care about the tonics used in towns, sometimes it is even fun when at in game party. But yes they are lorebreakers in a way too.
And I said most costumes aint lorebreakers imo yes the headpiece on luna costume sorta is... the dress however could be armor design too.

A.K.A you're /notsigning this for no reason, with a few sentence with no contribution.
How many people complains about Summoning stone destroying lore? It does affect people. It is nothing new, period.

If you want Lore, the Norn teleports to you but the Necromancer uses the teleportation powers such as Consume Corpse to transport the Norn to the Corpse.
Oh snap, Norn doesn't pop out of the Imp, they are teleported! Makes a lot more sense to lore-forks. Consume Corpse is a Death Magic skill, so it still make sense mechanic wise with Lore.
So assuming you buy a minion skin, if you still don't like how it says Animate Bone Horror, get a marker and write, 'Teleport Norn Warrior.'
