Anet please remove the lux/kurz boundry system
As the title says - When ab seems to die the pve players end up suffering due to the lux/kurz boundry not changing at all.
Some of us may want to vq the zones for faction or for title but having to vq an area thats usually say lux and its under kurz means no bounty and we rely on the vq bonus.
I know many alliance retake towns etc but for those who dont care if our alliance owns a town it means little who owns it.
So an idea would be the following - change the whole concept of ab map changes control who owns what in pve , Ive even seen ab players complain the maps same for a week or more - make the maps in pve change but have it that they reset weekly and do the same for ab and a simple map rotation.
Infact - change of idea , make each map in pve give the same amount of bonus regardless of who controls it.Eg if your lux then you speak to lux npc for bounty and you get lux reward - if kurz u speak to npc for bounty and get kurz reward for vq - that way neither side misses out .
Id hate to see gw2 released and gw1 have a pure dead ab and the boundry in pve stuck for months.

agreed. I swore that the lines were reset every week or something but it seems to have been unchanging for months

You've got a point, but complete removal?!
The best would be if the border just moved to center by 25% of it's distance from it every week.
Or by 5% every day.

Agreed with Sagittario. I always hated this system but complete removal would really take something important off factions. It's the only thing that actually reminds us everyday how the faction war goes on.
Oh and I'm lolling at actual border...when I needed to do stuff for kurz points the border was always totally in luxon favor (for months in a row), now that I'm doing nothing like that the kurzicks got all :P

I doubt they'll do anything tho. -_- Maybe it's worth a try when you can post on the GW2 forums again.

I am against complete removal but I also wish they would implement more ways to get faction. The grind in my opinion is terrible for this title and the boundries can make it complicated to get the faction you want.

I thought they had already given us a way to deal with the shifting border by having outposts which CANNOT change sides (House Zu Heltzer, Cavalon, and all of the mission outposts).
What I'd rather see implemented is a bounty that stays with you when you zone.
That way you can start at a mission outpost or HZH/Cav, get the bounty from a shrine outside, and farm anywhere you can go without entering an outpost.
Granted there aren't many areas you can get to that way, but I think it could help with the shifting border, especially if it gets locked into place via a mass migration of PVP players to GW2.

Except, of course, that for the last week or so it's swung heavily in favor of the Kurzicks, whereas the previous few months have had it in favor of the Luxons...

i dont care 1 bit about AB or any other pvp thing, but i hate the faction differences
when i go to kurz places, want kurz faction and need to use a merch after a mission, i'm always bothered with the other side (i first do kurz, maybe lux after that one maxed)
especially with merchants.... cant sell stuff, so gotta either go to kurz places or my GH, and this is worse after getting help through WoC, as i get lots of stuff, and pickup gold unid's and dyes and such, but then i gotta travel, merch and travel back... after every quest (yea, purples are worth money too, and some upgrades can be good
can tell me to buy the 2 more storage slots i dont have, but i shouldnt be forced to use rl money for some space only cuz of kurz VS lux
removing it all? i dont care, but at least make the places doable for pve-ers like myself
vqs are annoying, doing missions/WoC is really annoying with the question "will i be able to merch in the outpost i go to now?"
then getting bounties from kurz in lux areas is funny, but works annoying, as when i farm/grind kurz fac to get kurz points, i sometimes cant get that much (remember its the longest title, most likely), as i have to count on the vq reward instead of vq reward AND kurz blessing, which makes it less annoying and boring
same iwth lux areas, i wont farmk kurz fac there with vqs, as then i waste my time on some kurz fac and more lux fac which i'll lose anyway
maybe make it work like it does now with some sort of AB quest (like the WoC quest which brings back old spawns), which gives you the normal factions ways, yet normal players can farm and vq the normal way, but wont be able to get discounts or fireworks and such, like it is now
it doesnt need an overhaul or deletion, as long as it wont bother people who dont even care about those alliance takeover stuff and AB results (i dont know much about it, as i never cared about it at all)

You can 'bribe' the shrines.
But what I really want is being able to defeat those in the shrine, and then pay to have the faction you want in that shrine, by 'using' the shrine itself.
Shrines are often near doors, so they could come from there, walk to the Shrine, and put themselves in position, like when they do that in Outposts.

Remove the border, make the AB maps change every 2.5 hours (so that the same map doesn't appear at the same time of day every day), and have the vanquish bonus relative to the zone vanquished (Kurzick in Kurzick, Luxon in Luxon).
Or....
Keep the current system and have the shrine priests and vanquish bonus give Imperial Faction rather than Kurzick or Luxon. That way, it won't matter who currently controls the explorable for vanquishing purposes.

It would be a nice idea but it would completely remove the point of a border...

Really, other than just setting the border to the middle (declare permanent stalemate in the Luxon/Kurzick war and have the Harvest Temple be neutral - give it a second exit and the side you leave from determines which set of NPCs'll be at the starting shrine), the only reasonable solution would be to advance the timeline by 47 years and going to a 4th stage of Winds of Change: the Emperor moving in and conquering the Kurzicks & Luxons (as per The Movement of the World, replacing the shrine NPCs with Imperials to give Imperial faction...

Good idea but will never happen.............Zkey farming would explode. Not thats a bad thing, would make a more plausable farm for that title since HA, RA and most PvP is dead now.
I like it, but dont see it happening

This completely removes the whole purpose of factions campaign. As the title states "Faction". If you need Kurzick faction then Vq kurzick territory and vice-versa luxon. If you dont want to do that then do PvP and collect Imperial PLUS your faction.

dont forget that factions was based on pvp, but that doesnt mean pve-ers shouldnt be bothered with their stuff in factions, especially with GW2 linked HoM and kurz/lux skills
so it'd be nicer if non-pvpers would get a pve way, like just having the kurz priest and such in kurz areas, at least

The point would be that you won't have to kill the NPCs in the shrine, and then pay to have it enabled, AND defend the NPCs while they come from the door to the shrine. They'll be already there, ready to use.
Along a high enough price, the border is still important.
What kind of price?
Welll, X Jade/Amber, X platinum, X faction of that allegiance, or a combination of them.
That way, you keep the importance of the border, while still being possible to get either faction from any shrine.

I don't think the border system should be taken out entirely. It has its purpose. I've worked on both Luxon and Kurzick titles, and have taken advantage of the border shifts accordingly.
However, it can be really frustrating to have the border sit deep into one side's territory for weeks on end, so I very much support the idea of the border receding back to neutral after a certain amount of time of inactivity.
Conversely, I think tying the border movement to the other Factions PvP formats could be a workable idea. If JQ and FA (formats that are much easier to get into a match because they're still played) had some effect on it, I think we'd see more frequent border moves.

I can see what you're getting at, but it wouldn't feel right to me knowing that the border was dependent on the current number of bots.

I had that thought in the back of my mind when I posted... Though I'd rather have the border be determined by bots than crickets.
However, don't bots mostly plague JQ? I don't play FA much, so I don't know if there are a lot of bots there, too. I'm proposing a combined contribution -- AB, JQ, and FA. So the bot contribution would (hopefully) be minimal.
