suggestion: Guild Wars 10th Anniversary Edition
With the 10th anniversary coming up next month and no news from Anet if they are doing something special we've been throwing ideas around in the Guild Wars: A New Hope, FB group. And even though we threw out some big ideas we would like to see, i'll just post the simple version.
The 10th Anniversary Ed. would consist of
-Guild Wars Prophecies
-Guild Wars Factions
-Guild Wars Nightfall
-Guild Wars Eye of The North expansion
-Guild Wars bonus missions
-10 character slots (+2 if you already have the other games and haven't bought additional character slots)
-ALL pre order in game items from all games & expansions
-ALL promotional items (Examples Coke Items and mini pets)
-ALL in game collector edition items (Examples Divine Aura, Kuunavang, Varesh minis)
Additional updates
-bug fixes GWENS FLUTE!!
-the 4th anniversary panel to be renamed "Anniversary Panel" and unlocks for everyone during Guild Wars Anniversary
-Mini Pet Book
-El Tonic Book

^This minus the last 3 items. I don't have most the promotional/pre-order items or collector's editions but I feel like it would take away the "limited/collector's edition feel" from those who actually paid more to have those things when they came out. I don't know, just my two cents. I would like to see all 4 expansions in one cd key that costs a little bit less! Buying new game keys should NOT cost as much as it did 8 years ago, just saying.

Lord Asakurra, you mean like this?
http://www.gamestop.com/pc/games/gui...llection/98664
Guild Wars Complete Collection has existed for quite some time. Its cheaper than buying them all seperately as well ^^
Yeah it doesnt have the bonus mission pack, but if youd just like to see 4 expansion on one cd key like you said in your post, there ya go.

it used to only be available in Europe (not in the USA), now it is available here.
as for the 10th anniversary edition, would just like them to tell us that they are still going to be around for years 11 and on. (and perhaps something NEW ingame--new mini, new pet, new costume.....or how about those updates they had said they would do before-----).

Haven't seen that in any local stores in the last few years, actually!
What I should have said is that I wish there was one CD-Key to unlock bonus missions, expansions, and 10 character slots like OP stated that is far cheaper than what the store currently sells them for. It would not only encourage newer people to play the game, it would also encourage someone like me to buy a few for storage alts, seeing as my 3 storage accounts are already full :/
My full list of 10 year anniversary wishes-
- CD Key that unlocks ALL 4 games, bonus missions, and 10 character slots
- Account Recovery option restored (so that maybe I can get my main acc back from 2008 xD)
- AT LEAST a 3 or 4 man part/time support team, or at least some representation in the current gw2 support crew.
- One balance update per month- I don't think pve is the issue but pvp is currently extremely bland seeing as everyone either runs dual ele split or dual mesmer bot shutdown.
- Something other than a stupid voucher for us 10 year vets would be nice.

I said the last 3 items so that A: the entire world can obtain those items, B: makes new players want to try this game out, C: so old & new players have chance to obtain those items, and D: as an option for Arenanet to finance the GW2 expansion.

Well, as long as we're talking about things that won't happen...
I'd like to see a storage pane similar to the crafting material storage for mini pets and EL tonics. Also, I'd love an in-game auction hall. I hate wasting time in Spamadan.

They could also make an "Update Pack" like the 2008 one, but with just the pre-order bonus items. A complete update pack with all the /bonus for €19.99, or a pack for each game for 4.99€/each. This way the new players can buy a Complete Edition and then upgrade their games with new packs.
Aside from giving us access to discontinued content, they could also make some tweaks to the game, but for that I think that our only chance is to get back to a stronger community and start a pledge to ask them to do a little work on GW.

as for an ingame auction hall, I would rather keep things similar to how we have it now, keep player interaction and keep guild wars unique...maybe somewhere on the PvP islands we can talk to an NPC, tell them what we want to buy or sell, then get a list of who is selling what, if they are online, and be able to PM them that way...maybe even be able to trade them without being in the same location.
I was thinking about something similar to a storage pane for minipets and El Tonics.
they make a minipet book that is similar to a dungeon book, but has an appear of a storage box filled with minipets only. this book is tied into your accounts HoM. the book is divided into chapters by years (1-5, no 7 because they are repeats and previously promo can go in promo), in game, & promotional. Minis that you have Dedicated in your HoM will appear as a solid icon in the book, ones that you do not have appear faded. you obtain the book from a merchant.
Same thing with El Tonics but instead of it being linked to your HoM (obviously) you simply drag the tonic onto the tonic spell book.

i'd love all bonusitems and maybe GW2 skinned weapons/offhands..... and the cat mini, really
that for each 10 years old account (mine isnt yet)
and a few things as last update, like the ele skill "phoenix" instead of healing, it just burns foes it flies over (like lightning javelin does dmg), all kurz and lux areas having only 1 kurz and 1 lux priest, not fighting each other, so you can roleplay or just take which you like (or both)
.... and (sry for this again, my topic is dead, and it'd be a nice addition) proph missions having exploreable versions
then a few more: soothing images reducing adrenaline gain to 50% on targets in pve, desolation buff after elona completion (storyline), so we can walk over the sand, unless there are no players who completed elona
last but not least (although its harder, but doable) sin, rit, paragon and derv in pre, just as perma pre profs with some useful skills
.... its not like pre sear can be overpowered, as you get 1000xp per day if you do the quests, and newer profs wont do any bad... it'd make the pre searing community happy
then maybe all pve only skills (not splits, but skills, like eotn rep, sunspear rep and kurz/lux skills) having more effect when maxed the titles
overpowered? i dont know what that means anymore, as all pvx skills are overpowered lately... or so they say, but cant harm, and people will have a reason to max their titles instead of getting rank 5 (in eotn rep titles case) and thats it
i bet it'll make people happier if these things would be the last thing they'd give as last big update, as 10th anniversary
people will wake up from the endless grinding or whatever they do as robot (not bot), and they'll be like: wow, nice.... lets go and work some more!!!
and would affect GW2 too, as people will be done for real after that, and might (if anet dont screw up) join GW2, to take a break from GW, which they might play when they take breaks from GW2 again
anyway, these are some stuff i like.... love to have
and i dont think balance exists in a game where millions of people have different ways to complete everything..... and they can endlessly buy consets, which i never use, as those npc's are there forever
reason i brought this up, is cuz i have most likely a last go on this all
and if my top 3, and more likely to show up, (proph mission exploreables, soothing images and kurz/lux priests at all kurz/lux outposts) would be done, i'd have hell of a nice time
*the top 3 is in that order, although the 3rd would be replaced with newer profs in pre if anet would take the time*
ps. the newer profs in pre is made to have more fun in pre, with its community, NOT to make pre easier..... as if thats possible nowadays
people who dont like it, wont do it anyways
FOR FUN!!
EDIT: oh yea, add that kormir costume which was removed with the ingame store
oww, also let WiK enemies only spawn when you have a WiK related quest with you, even before you have done the storyline
now you cannot let the WiK spawns disappear, as you would need to do the whole storyline (which i find real hard), and WiK starts right after eotn or proph completion
and as for WoC, let the "normal spawn quest" be obtainable RIGHT after the first WoC is done, so we cant vq and walk around without any problems

Really? I got one about a year ago from the local game store. Had to ask them about it but they still had them in the back! Which I was very happy with as I needed another account to link to my NA gw2 account.

would really like to see luxon and kurzick armor for my paragon and dervish. (since they are in the hom....)
and the conclusion of the war in kryta-winds of change--(elona wXX) arc. as well as a way to NOT have the spawns in kryta show up if you dont have eye (they can do it like they have when you finish the battle of lions arch--if you dont have any bounties nothing shows up....type thing).
and non-celestial minis (really REALLY wanted the mouse, was rather perturbed when they only did the celestial and had the pig----)

Dervish Kurzick armor similar to Warrior armor would be cool, and I agree with everything else you said

I actually spent a couple of days making paragon armor and dervish armor for luxon and kurzick, but its a bad drawing....basically I took parts of npcs from both sides and patched them together (worked well for the luxon since they look that way normally )....seems only logical since those armors get extra points in the HOM.

Idk, maybe I just have a bad attitude toward certain things, I personally think allowing pre-ordered/bonus items that should NOT be obtainable unless you own the collector's/pre-order editions is a bad idea. Not only does it devalue the items, it also takes out the "rarity" of said items. I know they aren't tradeable but still, why would you want to see everyone running around with all the same stuff?
Maybe I'm just salty idk, I literally salvaged all my obsidian armor on all my characters back in 2009 once I saw all these kids running around with it.
I also agree tremendously with Ayuhmii about the pve-only-rep title ratio being broken atm... If they changed it back to having the rewards for max skill be at r10 that would be perfect. Again, just me being salty about having grinded all my rep titles to 10 back then and then watching them lower the max skill power requirement to 5...
Oh, and one more thing to add to the list (if I didn't already)...
Nerf Mesmer damage. That crap is so easy to abuse and take advantage of, it'd be nice to HAVE to think up of new builds to run to complete things!
Edit- Yea Mckenzie, they haven't carried any up here in the last couple years, or so I've checked- I can only find them online :/
Edit- Didn't see Frogman's post til last minute...That would be awesome! If only they had a way to sort between the dedicated and undedicated version you own, though :/

first part: we'd like to use more special weapons, so we can make more builds (at least thats my intention)
also, why would it be bad? people nowadays dont think about that anymore.... unless they are elitist and think the game is too easy, but they only talk about items nearly noone has anymore
all with same weapons??? thats exactly what they do now!!!
and their rarity = (nearly)non-existing
value??? when we all can get em, we could use em to build some more, and have MORE fun
heck, some even might stop copy-paste pvx and make their own
second part: i didnt mean to change it back, just the way it is, but at rank 10 having the skills a lil more buffed
example: "You Move Like a Dwarf!"
Shout. Target foe is knocked down and takes 44...80 damage. That foe is also Crippled for 8...15 seconds.
change it to:
Shout. Target foe is knocked down and takes 44...80......90 damage. That foe is also Crippled for 8...15......20 seconds.
last numbers being rank 10, but the middle numbers are from rank 5 to 9
so make them stronger when you reach rank 10, so people would need to max em to get stronger skills, means alot of work for a small buff, and many would do it, and have more to do

Well I'm not an "elitist" as you describe, but the game is definitely way too easy with the ability to customize all 8 bars in your party already- definitely doesn't need a buff to pve only skills that are already powerful as they are. I get the "some skills need more diversity/utility" argument, but adding DAMAGE (in your example) and cripple (which is somewhat worthless in pve anyway) to already powerful abilities would ruin them entirely.
I hate arguing about skill balancing, but you should read up the talks they did when they were having issues with Ursan Blessing being too weak during testing. IIRC the same exact situation as what you're describing now, but they ended up breaking the skill as a whole and had to nerf it completely after realizing how overpowered it actually was. In reality, pve only skills are extremely broken the way they are, you play through eotn for 3 or 4 hours and all of the sudden you can do max damage with a rep ability? Rank 10 was much more satisfying to attain, at least that's what most of my friends would say, and NONE of them are what you describe as "elitist". Making the game "easier", for lack of a better word, will not make it more FUN. In fact, it will discourage a lot of the population from experiencing the full game.
And about the "special" items- what you described in your second paragraph is EXACTLY what would happen if they decided to make all the collector's items obtainable- they wouldn't be "special" anymore, just like some of the minis they cycled through the 7th presents. Like I said before, I don't even have HALF the collector's items, but I don't think I should get the items that I didn't take the opportunity to get all those years ago. Does that make me elitist? No, it makes me realize that some things need to STAY special or there will never be anything left in this game that is special. Do you think they should do all the giveaways for all the extremely rare minis they did in the past? Of course not, it would only diminish the "priceless" quality of those items.
I WOULD, however, agree to say that it might be a good idea to make the collector's editions available again in the store? Like, lessen the price a LOT and just make the in game rewards part of it? That might be feasible, however unlikely it is. Definitely not the pre-order ones, though, no game that I can think of has EVER made their pre-order rewards available again. That devalues the players who've stuck with the game this entire time.
Edit- please don't take offense to this, I'm just very passionate about these sorts of things

my point is that the titles will have more than 1 use to max
and i meant that most elitists talk like that, that stuff must stay as it is, yet most left the game cuz nothing changed, even before GW2..... isnt that what they wanted??
what i call elitist is also those who want everythjing to be harder for everyone, no matter what others think, like newbies having more troubles, vuz the game they just started became harder etc
and items being special, yet useless (i dont think any accounts still play) and why not sharing the fun of building chars with those? they will make people happy, meaning anet gets a better name
the weapons cannot be traded or sold, so noone has any benefits, and we can only have more fun trying them out, which is a good thing

You know, people who bought the Collectors Edition aren't the only ones who've stuck with the game this entire time, and I daresay a lot of people who bought the Collectors Edition haven't even stuck with the game up to the present day. Saying they're the ones who've stuck with the game this entire time, as opposed to us, the hardcore fans who still play even when most Collectors Edition purchasers have probably quit, is insulting.
I would personally be quite happy to see the Collectors Edition content made available again. With regards to players who had the luck of having stores that carried it available to them and want their content to remain rare, allow me to play you a sad tune on my imaginary violin.

for the record dude(ett?) I have a few preorder items and a few promotional items, I've had my fun with them for the last several years, now it's someone else's turn...to enjoy those items, lets breath some life back into this game with an anniversary edition as I outlined in this thread.
Personally I've always hated exclusive items that were available for a certain amount of time and missing out, and I felt even worse when I had that item and was teasing someone with it unintentionally because they missed out.
there were some other good ideas suggested I see more as updates.
