Well deserved, this game is pass its expiry date.
None of you exploiters deserved to get away, its the only reason this game has deteriorated at an exponential rate since 2010.
As most people said, don't act innocent, you know what you did wrong and there is no point qq'ing about it.
I must say though it is a bit too late to rid these cancerous people from the game, this game is in its terminal stage.

I did use GWDressup as well in order to check armor sets I wanted to buy.

Unfortunately I think that goes under match manipulation. So yeah, you did something that's not OK. May have not been because you are this evil match manipulator but afaik it isn't ok to do.
Also, they don't care about your wealth. You don't need to be a dodgy hacker dude with 2748932 ecto, you just need to do one thing that they don't accept and you're gone.

i've been thinking
my suggestion to anet would be to first ban all botters and those who abuse the system..... and goldsellers, and wait with the sync-ers (i'm not one of them, as i dont sync anything but vizunah square, lol), and see what happens to the community and such with so many botters gone and many sync-ers left
i think pvp was dead enough if you dont count the bots, except on AB and JQ weeks
who knows what pvp areas will look like if they ban all bots AND sync-ers.... maybe dead for real
but i wanna know how it'd go if syncers werent banned, and see what they'd do without botters, maybe pvp would stay alive, and people would be able to do pvp
isnt that better than a completely dead pvp?
as for the arena's..... let them, be exploreable by default anet.... thats all its good for

No botting/ syncing/ gold buying/selling = No ban.
I can play the game still because I have always played it correctly.
Have fun.

It seems Arenanet is just blanket banning multiple accounts with very little investigation (how can someone thoroughly investigate 2,120+ accounts as of Jan 16th (reported by Shazbawt) in a matter of a few days?) Answer: they can't. Some accounts are being flagged for the tiniest infraction, or perhaps for no infraction at all.
For example - way back when, people were banned for "pre/post trades." Which is when one person trades someone an item in pre (the prophecies tutorial area), then they accept payment in post. These accounts were being flagged as goldsellers and buyers since oft-times there would be nothing else offered on one side of the trade. Since then, it has become common practice to put a worthless item in trade when receiving something for free because of this.
That's just one example. Suppose someone wants to try out PvP, they go to HA, get a random invite from a team that is match manipulating, then join the team inadvertently. It's almost impossible to join a PvP team and know with 100% certainty that they are not engaged in some form of match manipulation, particularly if the player is new to PvP or to Guild Wars in general.
Or as Warrior Bradols pointed out - how "thorough" is Arenanet at examining individual accounts if they ban for a different violation than the user committed?
It may be unlikely, but it is possible that more than one person logs on to accounts from the same IP. One may be engaged in an illegal activity and the other one is not. But since they are banning the whole IP, that doesn't support Arenanet's statement that they are "thoroughly" investigating individual accounts and proving "beyond a reasonable doubt" that the user was involved in bots or third-party programs as they claim.
It's not good form to pass judgement and make accusations against other players that are being banned. Sure, some of them may be lying, but not all of them are.
My hope is that Arenanet will release official statements regarding what are now considered bannable offenses (i.e. Multilaunch) and if it is safe to play PvP because of all the match manipulation going on.
I am currently awaiting a response from Guild Wars support regarding the legality of Multilaunch. The former Arenanet Community and Content Leader, Emily Diehl has been quoted as stating that Multilaunch and Texmod are ok to use (Massively, May 26th, 2010). But this was many years ago, and it is possible that Arenanets stance has changed without informing the community since then. If this is the case I would find it highly unethical of them to completely terminate accounts for using Multilaunch. While Arenanet may be within their rights to do so, what a great way to reward some of the most dedicated players after all these years (sarcasm.)
|
+1.
THere's no way He could have done that by himself. As you said he went with even the slightest infraction & banned all acc's on that player. Seeing I still know his method is flawed imo it should be thoroughly reviewed by members of Anet but they probably won't take the time to do that.

The Rules of Conduct
If you take the time to read the Rules Of Conduct: http://legal.guildwars.com/en/gw-rul...conduct-en.pdf You can see that Arenanet has the ability to terminate anyone's account for practically any reason.
You call someone a noob in RA - BAN! (violation of rule #1)
You call someone by their real name - BAN! (rule #2)
You spam all chat with a guild recruiting message - BAN! (rule #5)
You jokingly say "Hi I'm gaile gray and I want to sell my frog." - BAN! (rule #6)
You get a DUI in real life - BAN! (rule #7)
You tell everyone about a great movie you just saw - BAN! (rule #8)
You create a guild for atheists and don't allow religious people - BAN! (rule #15)
You tell someone there is an exploit going around - BAN! (rule #19)
You reported someone for botting because there was no option for goldselling - BAN (rule #23)
Yes, this was written a bit tongue-in-cheek but it doesn't negate the fact that the Rules of Conduct are written in a way so that Arenanet can find a reason to ban you for anything.
The bottom line is - if they are going to ban people for 1 sync'ed match in a noob arena to help someone get a cartographer title, they need to be banning for every infraction, all across the board. That is real justice.
The only safe way to play this game is: Log in, kill monsters, don't talk to anyone, log out.

...and they need to ban ALL those who were there for it (I had 2 accounts doing that noob carto and ALL of my accounts are just fine--granted I used 2 different computers for it--so perhaps there is more to the multilaunch ban---), not just a few.
But yeah, they can ban you for just about anything and everything if they so desired.

That's what it feels like to me now. Now I might be back to logging in now and then to farm a few bounties in one go for the heck of it(Destor, Amilyn, Carnack, etc). Same triple necro hero build, Razah for a fourth, hench healer, hard mode.
After the ban wave or however we would call it, there are still some known alt runners in HA. Someone last night in a team said one of them actually bought more accounts to alt with after his were banned.
At one point, another known alt'er tried to invite me to his or her team in the outpost. There was no other team forming and I ignored it for a while, then just left the game. I don't know why they keep doing it, but it looks like the alt botters still have a lease on the place. And there are still mesmer bots being ran in HA.

The only thing constructive that I have to add to this conversation is some food for thought for everyone.
I really don't think anet is out to ban the average Joe GW player forever. I really think that even if you make a trade or 2 with someone that has been perma banned for botting or gold buying etc, that you won't be banned. I think people are using logical arguments and then criticizing the result they get when they take them to ridiculous proportions here. For those of you math affecionados, it would be like trying to integrate a convergent function and then coming back that the integral is infinite.
You won't get banned for playing HA with a known syncer once. You won't get banned for trading with a known botter or gold buyer once. You won't get banned for syncing yourself once. What you will get banned for is REPEATED offenses. I.e. doing it every day when you obviously know what you are doing is wrong and just to take advantage of the system. That is what anet is looking for probably. They aren't out to ban the average Joe user like you or me.
Chill out everyone. Anet is not gonna ban the average gw player. Take some deep breaths. Stop fighting.

To those banned, you all exploited, bought gold, botted, synced, whatever. The excuses and the innocence acts are really pointless, and nobody is falling for it. Move on please. I hear you can actually buy gold directly from the gem store with real money, go to GW2 maybe. Perfect for low skill players that prefer bots and RMT.

I've been playing since beta. I have maxed nearly every title in the game. Lately I decided to start on my hero title which I abandoned before team arenas was destroyed. I joined 2 teams that someone apparently was using alts to push us which no one told me because they were all on some voice chat, soon as I figured it out I left each team. I lost all accounts for this. But you narrow minded self loathing "gamers" won't believe me because Anet could never make a mistake right? If you think that I deserved to lose my account my brothers account and a storage account for this then I hope that you will be put in my shoes one day. No response from so called support and reading Shazbawts twitter where he acts like this is all a fun joke has destroyed the last of hope for me.
Just so you know how far I got in my hero title. I went from r5 to r6. In about a month. So there wasn't much ground gained as I mostly just took henchies and picked off other hench teams.

If you could read you would have known it was two different teams over a course of a month and each team I left as soon as I knew something was up. But instead you take it and play the idiots stance. Why think about anything from anyone else's standpoint when you can lob insults at them and act like a fool. You are what is wrong with Guild wars. Horrible people who don't care at all about anyone else in the community.

On the contrary, you my friend are what is wrong with Guild Wars. Hence you just got perma banned for match manipulation. The community will be better off with you and your sync buddies gone.

You do realize that you can be banned without any reason, right? It's their right, that's what "All rights reserved." means...
P.S this thread should be closed, it won't lead to anything constructive and is just full of people whining

I have no buddies in game. I never would talk to anyone. Those teams I joined were pug groups in Ha not some friends I knew. And you are not my friend nor would I consider any narrow minded person like you to ever be someone I'd spend any further time with. Banned or not. I consider myself lucky to not be as arrogant and close minded as you.

I consider myself lucky to not be so god awful at a game that I have to cheat and match manipulate. Or be as arrogant and close minded as to do so and ruin the game for others. Good riddance to you.
