*jaw drops* Brilliant!
What amazes me the most, is the potential. What else are they going to do for us...things we have been screaming for this whole time.
Any word on why they have come out? Is there some small chance that the suggestions made by us pathetic little end users have affected the devs decisions? Any at all? Just a little bit?
I am confused though: Why such huge focus on certain foreign contries? What does Korea have to do with GW that is more important than, say, England or Russia...or why does Scandenavia get a special BWE and not some place like Australia? Are we just not hearing the stories from these places?

Hi Ranis,
I'm tired and I'm lazy (as usual), so I won't post the exact links.. but there's a separate thread discussing the Scandinavian BWE as well as another one that talks about the Korean tournament.
There are very valid reasons for both -- for the Scandinavian BWE, it's because they couldn't play the march BWE due to a key glitch.
As for the Koreans, they have an entirely different culture/outlook on gaming. Hence, their society has more opportunities, and I hope I can safely say, is much more friendly to mass gaming as a real competition (hence the 30,000 prize). NCSoft, of course, also has strong ties to Korea.
EDIT: Ok ok, I'll do my one un-lazy act of the day.
Here is the link for the discussion on Korean vs. US beta.. um.. allowances? What would be a better word.. ?
This is the thread on the Scandinavian BWE.
P.S.. Kirbie.. are you sure you're not seeing Alpha testers? For all you know, you might be seeing Spooky, Scapes, Mooman, or any of the other alpha testers running around.

*Dies laughing at that mental image* Oh god...you sound just like my friend when you do that. (Who incidentally seems to have a touch that kills hamsters in 2 to 3 days...she's gone through several in the last month)
Ahem...at this point, I'm not too sure what I think of the new colours...I think I'd have to see the male faces and hair additions before I could say anything final. For some reason, the blue and green just dont do it for me.

They're hats.
With more and more brownie points from Spooky, or other certified Kitty Ear Alliance leaders, your kitty ears will slowly grow in power and prominence until they become firmly attached to your head.
Then, all that trouble and pain of headbands will be gone! You shall be forever ushered into that holy, light-filled existence that is the KEA. Of course, it's light-filled only when you don't want to take cat-naps.. which is.. less than 10% of the time.

I'm sure they've been listening, but my guess is the biggest reason we're seeing customization stuff going it at this late stage is they've been fairly busy, and always intended to work on that kind of stuff last.

Sarcasm? Joke? Bah. KEA has a long and storied history, though I suspect that there are not many people left that were there at the beginning to know the tale (or should I say tail?)
It all started back when headgear for professions other than the Warrior (originally, only the Warrior could have helms .. things like the masks, etc, were added later) were added into the game. A screenshot was released with a few examples, and lo and behold, there was the Elementalist with a circlet kind of thing. And I figure, that's nice and all, but we've been down this route in Diablo 2. We needed something a little more .. unique. (Cute, too.) So, I suggested that instead, we have hairbands with kitty ears on them. At this point, Gaile showed up and decided it was a great idea, and went to suggest it to those in charge. Sadly, Patrick Wyatt thought I was possessed of a bizarre fetish. But on that day, the KEA was born with its first two members .. and it has since only grown in numbers and power .. an all-star coalition dedicated to getting these in game. Heck, this started even before I was an Alpha tester .. so that's going on nigh 3/4ths of a year ago, now. Now you can see what comes of our cause .. but there's still more work to do.. I wouldn't mind a tail, too!

Blegh. I hate April Fools. For some reason, I'm so gullible when it comes to April Fools jokes. I have absolutely no ability to tell the difference between those who're serious and those who're yanking chains. I refuse to believe there are actually kitty ears in the game until the calendar reads 4/2/05.

this is a little too surreal.... itll be a bit fairly mean if it was a joke though
however
My girlfriend would love guildwars 10 times zabilltilion folds if she knew there are actually kitty ears and all these other cute ways to customize the game. Hearing that there are actually more cuztomization features added I wonder how much more cuztomizational features will be added later and later on.... geez makes me excited seriously.
I hope this game is for sure a keeper where I can litterally stick too for 100s and 100s of days.
sigh... I remember being hyped with all the promises from matrix online only to figure out its just a rpg game.... not the "Matrix online" that it was supposed to be while playing the beta... So I quit and didn't waste my 50$ with the 15$ monthly fees heh...
Anyhow I'm getting off topic, but one thing is for sure so far GuildWars is living to every single hype I'm living off of and only thing left is Cuztomization. Can't wait to try it.

Wow, spooks, you finally got your kitty ears. How does it feel? It sure took a long time, but I guess it shows that it's worth fighting for what you believe in. ...

But this has to be the coolest addition to GW in the future!!
"What playable races are there in Guild Wars?
In the first chapter you will be able to play characters from the human race. In subsequent chapters of Guild Wars, you may be able to play members of other races."
I dont like how it says "may be."

the necro males have a new, very odd hair style.
also the body scarring on the females is much improved.
