The animation is done pretty well....slightly better textures needed IMO.
But I don't quite like Devona's voice or the way she speaks tho...maybe its just me.
Other than that...the Executioner looks really cool.....same thing with Firestorm animation. Would be pretty funny if Devona actually shouted "For Great Justice!" or some other war shout

Did you get much of a sense of gameplay in StarCraft from the cinematic of the two marines talking to each other in a jeep before they run over a zergling? Were you bitterly disappointed later to discover the game doesn't even have jeeps, much less the ability to run over enemies with them?
When you watched the opening cinematic in WarCraft III, did you expect you'd spend a lot of time in the game sleeping and receiving visions in your dreams?
Did you expect to do a lot of negotiating with Baal in the actual game after watching the D2LOD cinematic?
It's a cinematic. It's not supposed to reflect gameplay AT ALL! That's not what cinematics are for. No one should get a false sense of gameplay from the cinematic unless they've been buried under a rock for the last 15 years...

So thats what this big grey thing is on my back. LOL I think the cinimatic is fun. But it would also be good to show actual game play. Some game advertisments show actual game play and some don't. I have seen incredible eye candy both in the cinimatic adds and on game boxes then purchased the game to find out its little colored blobs on the over head map. IE Grand Theft Auto and Grand Theft Auto 2. What a waste of money those games were. I played them for about 5 minutes each.

Something to consider...
For what I remember of the WOW trailer theirs played in theatres prior to movie presentations. It appears based on quality the same is likely with this cinematic. The WOW theatre version had few in-game scenes becuase they knew how distorted it would look on the big screen (Please remember Blizzard is a subdivision of Vivendi-Universal Pictures too.). That cinematic would look great on the big screen, most of the in-game movies would appear almost evaporated.
Hypothetically, if you were the one with the software company promoting this game which impression would you want people to go home with? A rather well done cinematic that is purely fiction about fiction? Or would you actually prefer an in-game sequence that people including children are straining to see due to the insane amount of resolution you need to support light projection? Oh wait, this will be on DVD, that makes it better--if the television sets people had were standard and carried a signal the same as the computer sure, but they don't. The 555 line res is gonna distort the color and resolution of the in-game movie and no one is gonna want it for the simple fact that you as the head of the company allowed yourself to be represented so poorly. See the audience doesn't know what the game is yet, but now they'll never make the effort to find out.
So if you are gonna whine about the cinematic, please oh please get off the techical Holier than Thou Soapbox from Hell. They did this movie for people who aren't as informed about the game as you are, and likely, like myself, not as technically knowledgeable about it. Figure out that first you have to get people interested in knowing what it is, people who aren't as much gamers, not computer nerds, not artists, etc. so far as you know. These are faceless people you haven't met who haven't met you. All they know is they are at the theatre to see the Passions of the Christ or whatever movie and they expect that quality on that screen--not just visual but alsocontent, rythm, music. etc.--drama/entertainment is what they are open to receive and in that time that is what you must give them to get them interested, because you know they haven't been interested already or YOU WOULDN'T NEED TO MAKE A CINEMATIC! hahahaa
****Elythor I mention the shout idea as part of a suggestion in a previous post. Thank you for seeing that too!
(Comments, corrections etc. welcomed and I apologize for any mistakes. )

Honestly speaking, I didn't feel too much from this movie either... Some people would like to say "this is probably aim for korea" or something like that... but as an asian under asian culture and some asian education influence... I would say that is actually pointed more to western side of the world instead... But, as we all know by now... it was pointed to the world, and I can probably tell you that the movie going to be the same even if NCsoft was an english based company. It wasn't just for a certain side of people. (If they really tried to point for korean audience... then I don't know what to say... perhaps it is like a western cook that tried to cook chinese dishes with western style cooking)
I think they done a nice job with their level of resources... they aren't blizzard with deep pocket or something. Although I do hope they could spend more time in perfecting the movie... They must be working really really hard right now, as the dead line is comming... or perhaps, passed @_@ (they did delay the game after all) I remember I had to work on a project with couple blizzard days that lock me in, then later I have to rush everything... it wasnt fun at all...
The future is defintely better, I will be waiting =)

That trailer was extremely good for a first trailer. Even though the bullet-time thing was a bit exaggerated, I'm looking forward to the next trailer(and the next BWE).

Animation and CG use was great...art direction was great...fight scenes I thought was good, I mean, yeah they had flips and slo mo scenes...but if they kept solely to the game animations, that'd be a seriously dull trailer...I don't wanna see some warrior hack away at a big lumbering beast for 5 minutes...no matter how hot she is, so they used their imagination a bit to spruce up the regular hacks and slashes...
...voice acting?...overdone...didn't like it. The actual voice was ok...but just the material was so derivative and melodramatic at the same time...I'd have been happier with no voice...and some good music instead

Well, that's twice I have seen the phrase "holier than thou" and now it's accompanied by "whining" and "Soapbox From Hell". Believe it or not, we can not enjoy something as much and have an adult discussion about why we may not have, and what we would have preferred without it constituting "whining". I have the impression that some here are so into the game that anything less than adulation is considered an attack. It's not a soapbox when you discuss the trailer in a thread devoted to (gasp) discussing the tralier. If I were to stand up and launch into a tirade about the misrepresentations of ghouls and announce that as part of PFETOG (People For the Equal Treatment Of Ghouls) I am offended by the way ghoul society is depicted as a 2 dimensional stereotype (and was serious) THAT would be a soapbox. Talking about one's impressions, whether positive or negative, in a forum that is discussing that topic is hardly a soapbox, nor from Hell. Lighten up.

It did sound like you were crapping on the Cinematic, when by far that was the best Cinematic of any game, Or movie.
I loved how the ghouls climbing the bridge gave me the same chills as doom3, that trailer was just nothing less than Breathtaking. Cant wait for the Movie.
Bet it would be better than the passion.

-You may have missed the post(s) above by other people, everyone a critic.
-You may have missed the post(s) of everyone being a marketing genius for Arena.net (including yours truly who later realized it was out of hand, thus the post that you do not appreciate).
-You may have missed the post(s) about someone being racist.
-You may have missed the post(s) about the admins being tired of assumptive negativity.
-You may have missed the post(s) where attempts at levity were made to lower the "temperature" in the thread only to be batted down.
-You may have missed the post(s) where people make suggestions in the way of (CONSTRUCTIVE) criticism about the cinematic to make it better (which you may have been one of however, I am not good with names unless they stand out, and, yours doesn't.)
And, it appears, you may have missed these things due to assuming a superior position over others "...have an adult discussion..." Your inuendo above is unnecessary as I do not see your name at the top of my original post directing everything there at you, or referencing anyone specifically for that matter. However, if you care to not take what was said as directed at you and thus subject to your interpretation, judment, review, and attack, you might notice someone that was clearly frustrated as was inde and others in the thread with the bantorous negativity. Although you may assume the negativity is necessary to the learning process, this may not be the case with constructive criticisms.
Lastly, it would appear you might still be holding on to the idea that a cinematic so removed from the real game was actually made to sell the people already playing it--thus our input of some useful purpose (You know the ones that purchased a pre-order?)--however, I doubt you would be so self-punishing.
In any event, talk amongst yourselves I will make no further effort.
