Not only the subject of GW vs WoW has been beaten to death but it usually leads to heated arguments.
This is a Guild Wars forum. Do you really expect people to tell you that WoW is better?

Hi, i have played WoW, and i have to say, that IMO, WoW is boring, PvP is boring, althought WoW does offer some nice things, i feel its killing my brain cells by playing it.
Dont even get me started on the Bnet kiddies on there! if you mess up, even SLIGHTLY, then a barrage of "OMFG N00b!" and "WTF [Insert random insult here]". I understand that these L337 kiddies get annoyed when someone is trying their best to play the game, and failing, but rather then help them, they just insult them. give me a casual gamer over a L337 Haxxor anyday...

I agree with you there, some of the people on WoW can be a bit retarded. However since this game is really dependent on groups and guilds I think you will find that there are people like that in this game as well.

For months, I had followed World of Warcraft like an aimless sheep. The game sounded so very new and refreshing, especially when you consider Blizzard's reputation when it comes to making video games; however, after playing the beta, WoW became repetitive once I left the starting Gnome/Dwarf area. It was painful to even sign on.
Then, Guild Wars caught my attention. Could the game that was being created by the same developers who worked on Diablo 2, a game that I so vigorously enjoyed for atleast 5 years, be better? I soon found this out to be true and thankfully so.
All in all, Warcraft may be enjoyable for some, but everyone has different tastes in video games. I chose Guild Wars; my brother chose World of Warcraft. Do I question his decision? Yes, sometimes. Do I hate him for it? No, of course not.
In conclusion, think for yourself!

Wow is horrible. They've been having serious server stability issues since November 23rd. There is a lack of end-game content. Everyone who reached level 60 is now bored because there is no PvP (other than lame ganking).

Well even though I haven't played yet (less than 3 hours of work to go argh), I know I will like both games equally well for completely different reasons.
I think both are excellent for the way each game is structured.

Personally I play both. Only PvP being Ganking on WoW? Must be your server, the PvP community has always thrived on mine, and I'm not on a PvP server and refuse to because of the issue of possible ganking. As for grouping and raids and such, there are pretty always people in IF forming raid groups for places on my server, not every second of the day, but anytime I am in IF for any extended period of time I see the people making those groups.
A majority of players I have met are not the type to call you a noob if you make a mistake, I havnt had the unfortunate luck of grouping with those types either.
Either way, this thread of pointless, people are going to come and say one person is dumber for playing one of the games, which is really stupid and pointless.

Yeah, I notice that GW is a very friendly teamwork atmosphere. It's all about helping each other out. There are tons of new players in Pre-Searing Ascalon right now. I hang out sometimes just to help new players to learn the ropes. It's a much better community. Because the better they play, the better team mates and guild mates you will have in the future.

I played shadowbane for 2 yrs before going over to WoW. Now if you played SB you know how horrible the lag, duping, cheating, and hax where. But i can tell you what, the story of the servers i played on was awesome. I was on fear and there was the beta guild known as ebonlore. They basically ran the server. They tried to smash upstart guilds, recruited heavily and had ridiculous amounts of resources. Then the stopped because the GL sold the guild and her toon on Ebay and the whole situation turned around and it was a struggle of rogue nations vieghing for power. Of course this was just based on how the players played, there was no storyline put in place, no gm ran events. That was the most fun MMO, the thing that killed it was crappy coding.
WoW was fun, but basically i can't stand the grinding for levels, and grinding for loot. Even worse they suffer from horrible rebalancing issues, sweeping changes to classes, and items giving ridiculous bonuses for some classes. So I stopped enjoying wow for the same reasons i stopped liking uo...except instead of taking 2yrs to stop liking it only took me ~5mos.
GW really looks like the light, at least for me, no item grinding, PvP being a major feature (although i would like to see how much reward other than enjoyment of challenges there is for PvP), and a good community.

Yeah, GW just has all those elements coming together. I think they are gonna turn the MMO industry on it's head.

This is sort of funny. In an earlier quote, I stated that "I also think that many of the subscribers who have played WoW will probably also be the players for GW for very similar reasons." With all of the opinions on WoW in this thread alone, I can see I was right. Interesting...

I never played WoW because it looks like a shallow piece of MMO crap. But GW appeals to me very much.

If you have never played WoW then you can't say it's a shallow piece of crap because you really don't know. Ah, gotta love opinions based on hearsay and rumor.

Trust me.. I highly educated myself on the gameplay before deciding it wasn't for me. Hearsay and rumor have nothing to do with it; experience and knowledge do.

I appreciate that, but even still, if you have never actually played the game then it isn't the same. I read articles too. I also watched videos from the E3 conference. I read the press releases too. It's still not the same as playing the game and residing inside the world.

I don't know how many of these I have locked now. WoW is its own thing, GW is its own. Asking such a loaded question on a GW fansite will only result in loaded answers.
